OK so today I have looked at our house and other houses online. I would like to get our house valued to see how much we might get. There is a lovely house in the village that I would like to live in and with a small mortgage there is a possibility that this might work. It is next to a rail track which is why it is cheap for the size and state of the house. At the moment we are a few rows back from the train station so I would need to hear / see what it is like if a train goes by. Not sure it would put me off though yet. I also doubt it would be available once we actually sell our house. All the children would be very happy to get their new rooms and space and driveway without wars. School / college and possibly universities would all stay the same, we would just be sleeping elsewhere. DD1's BF house is a similar distance away so she is happy.
I would worry about the cats being so close to the tracks, and I am not sure if there is more to think about when buying a house next to tracks?
I did a quick mortgage approval with my current bank account for £50k and they said yes it should be possible but obviously it was only an idea and not a real application. I think it would all depend on how much our house is worth. I also have to remember that we were on the market for 18 months a while back and almost no interest at all. We have since done up the bathroom, made the garden secure as well as making it from a 3 bed to a 4 bed house and added a downstairs bathroom.
Never thought that I would need to apply for another mortgage, at least for a good number of years anyway. I guess I need to get my bank in a tip top condition to give myself the best possible chance, should I need it.
Plan is to book valuations for the weekend. Have a good think and then if we are going ahead I will get going with a few bits of DIY before having pictures taken and getting on the market around half term. I will then try Debt Free Wannabes manifesting that our house gets a good offer very quickly and that the house we like is still for sale and they accept an offer. Not much to ask is it?Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well I spoke to 4 agents who are coming to value our house (Sat x 2, Mon and Tue). We are looking at the nice house we've seen online on Fri pm. I said that we are not even sure if we could move as yet but the agent said that as it was empty there wouldn't be any harm in looking. It has been on the market since just before Christmas and reduced in price in the last week or so. It was rented out to the owners family from what I can tell so some areas like the kitchen haven't been looked after as much as if it were their own house. To be honest if we had stayed here, the kitchen would be the next big job so either house would need work at some point. Not sure if that means it would be chain free upwards. Very early to tell as yet but at least we are looking into it.
Been busy at work and got plenty done, but houses have been on my mind for most of the day. I have a lot of cleaning to do. I will drop DD2 off at band and she will stay there until 9pm tonight so I can try to get some bits sorted. I think I will start upstairs and work my way down. Need dad to come and collect the radiators at some point too.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Thank you - I hope I can tidy the house before they get here on Saturday. I have booked slots at the tip for Thursday and Sat first thing. I already have enough to fill the first car load. I took a half day and am hoping that maybe I can have a few more short days this week. It will help both me and the extra time I am owed.
Today I have sorted the landing and my bedroom, which is the main dumping ground for bits that have no home. Now they are out of my room it looks a bit bigger. It is fully cleaned, hoovered and dusted. Just need to put clean bedding on but then it is done.
Still many more rooms to do but that was the main problem upstairs at least. Not sure when I will get the garden sorted and I have to hope DD1 sorts her room out before she is exhausted from the next round of work shifts which starts tomorrow. That will just leave downstairs to sort .
Trying to decide which meal takes the least effort to do, but also need to check the dates on the meat and pop in the freezer if needed.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Thank you, I really do want out of here and have done since before XH left but even more since then. What I do is still reported back to XH sometimes as a mutual 'friend' let it slip not so long back. I wish once the builders put the plans in that I had tried too as it would have save me a lot of grief each morning and afternoon. I just hope someone with a growing family needs a little house like our in a local to town and train station for the right price.
And if it could sell super quick too that would be great. Move out and settled in time for summer.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Yes completely all mine. It is quite exciting but scary as don't want to get hopes up but then again I need to think positively. I need to speak with the bank to confirm numbers and then look at house costs - no solar panels to help with energy, higher council tax, more fuel to work etc

Today I had another half day (going to be busy catching up next week!) and have made a start on the living room. Decluttered a box full to take to the charity shop at the tip tomorrow. I also have a clothing bag and a few general rubbish bags from the last few days. I still have a pile of paperwork to go through from my table next to the sofa and then will hoover. Although I may wait until Saturday for that, as I will need to do it again before then anyway. My friend is bringing over some pinecones for the fireplace. We got rid of the coals many years ago and have pretend candles in there so it doesn't look empty. Going to put the pinecones in there as they can be left behind.
Pasta bolognaise for dinner this evening and it was good. Made enough for tomorrows lunch too. Will probably have another half day, but will do no harm having something ready to eat.
Saw the lady who I work with and is off on sick leave this evening. She is doing well but still a way to go as yet. It was lovely to catch up with her as she is missed in our office by everyone.
No money spent today.
