What a week - it has been so busy.   What with work being super busy, after school activities and DD1 missing home late at night, I am exhausted.  DD1 arrived home at 4.30 this morning from her holiday.  I didn't sleep well last night as knew she would appear at some point.  We are all dressed but not functioning today.  It will be mainly a day on the sofa doing not a lot.

I cleared the fridge out last night as there was something very wiffy in it.  Turns out the cucumber in the bottom was no longer edible.  The fridge now looks very empty, so will be ordering a food shop for tomorrow.  DD1 has requested pizza for dinner as she had been wanting it all week, but it wasn't available where they were taken to eat.  I said that it will only be shop bought ones tonight as I need a good nights sleep before I am functioning again. We also need to nip to the farm shop as it is the only place that sells the onion chutney we like.

The builders have ripped everything out of our bathroom and it is now ready for things to go back in.  We are showering at the local sports centre after having had a swim.  This will continue until the room is complete.

Ok must make some effort to at least put a load of washing on.

This week I am running on fumes I think.  Although I have had plenty of rest and sleep I am so tired and achy, and wonder if I am coming down with something.  DD2 was sick through the night so is staying home to keep the other 2 company.  Being back down to only 1 small understairs toilet is not fun lol.  I only have a half day at work, but not sure the builder will want to be in the germ infested house.  I have disinfected surfaces and have all windows and doors open to get the germs gone quickly.
I have another problem - flies.  I think one of the cats may have bought something into the house without me knowing and it is now festering somewhere.  I have been swatting flies non stop and then 5 or 6 more appear.  I just cant find where they are coming from.  I have cleared the areas that I can get to and apart from pulling appliances out I really cant see where they are from.  There is no smell so I don't quite understand, but they are most definitely multiplying at a fast rate.
Right I best get sorting things out ready for the builder to arrive and then work.

Hope you feel better soon, slm. Is it worth doing a covid test? A work colleague had something similar the other week and it was a new variant of covid, but her symptoms were the same as yours, very tired and achy. x

I think I will as there have been some people at work with it.  I must admit I feel a little better this evening but still not right.  DD2 hasn't been sick since the early hours of the morning, so hopefully she can go back to school on Friday.

Listening to the football while reading through things on here.  Need to look at the budget again and make sure things are going to plan.  The tiles are now all on the wall and are awaiting the grout.  He is back again tomorrow morning.  We looked at flooring today and will make a decision on Monday when they come to measure up the room.  Maybe by then we will have a toilet or shower cubical?

  • Good luck with the bathroom makeover! I bet it will all be amazing when done and the memories of struggling with one small toilet will soon disappear. I did my one last summer and for two weeks we had no useable bathroom really but when done it was so lovely to use it!

Could it be end of term exhaustion? Even though I'm not at school myself I always seem to suffer with sickness and exhaustion as the terms draw to a close from having gotten up early and being in that school routine for months on end. Hope you're all well soon 😊

Thank you DFW, the bathroom tiles are now complete and it is looking good.  Not heard when they are next in but I did read that the grout will need 72 hours to set properly.  I am hoping that early next week we will be able to use showers etc.  We are off to the sports centre this evening for our showers.  I need to nip to wickes and get a mirror and a toilet roll holder so they can fit it before they finish.

It may be end of term exhaustion, there are so many things to get done, as well as end of term events happening.  Today at work it was only at the end of the day that I started tackling any of my actual job.  There were lots of other people wanting me to help them, then lots of deliveries that I needed to sort through.  It will all get done, but it doesn't seem like a week before the summer holidays.  Not sure why, maybe the lack of sunshine?

DD1 has her prom tonight, but has lifts to and from.  Just sent her off as she is part of the committee and needs to get there early.  Tomorrow DD2 has a concert at the park, and we are hoping for no rain.  It is just non stop around here.

Thank you.  Woke up after a little lie in.  Not sure a restful week is really on the cards.  DD1 is attending and working at her friends parents wedding tonight so she wants to buy them a bottle of fizz and a card.  Only problem is she is at work all day so I've just popped out to get it.  Went early to avoid crowds as it is the carnival in town today so road closures for the parade and thousands of people.

Last night was last night of the proms for the carnival on the local park.  DD2 was playing in it as her first time with the older band.  They are really good and she has her own little band jacket (which actually quite suits her).  Unfortunately the weather was awful and hardly anyone stayed.  I had my camping chair, winter clothes on and a blanket over my legs while it poured with rain.  It did not feel like July that is for sure.  We got home and had a hot chocolate but she was is high spirits from playing, especially as her friend didn't play last night.

DD1 got a call asking if she was still interested in an apprenticeship, but was unable to take the call as she was working.  They emailed her and she has replied yes please, so finger crossed an interview may be coming her way.  She is not really keen (mainly because it involves answering the phone I think - just like a lot of jobs) but I think it would be a good starting point and lots of experience and for almost £18k worth taking if she gets a chance.

I bought a newspaper too that has a voucher for national trust in it.  I am hoping to visit a castle near to where we are staying for our holidays and it will be free with the voucher - not quite as it cost to buy the paper but better than the entrance fee normally.  The car park is free too so cheap day out.

I also won a free treasure trail last week for a fairly local town that we go to.  I will be nice to look at things from a different perspective and spend a few hours walking around.  Just need some nice weather now please

So for the rest of today I need to sort the house out, do washing, bag up clothes to return that I got for DS (he is growing at an unbelievable rate at the moment).  I don't plan on leaving the house now and hoping to have a fairly relaxed day

Such a lazy day yesterday and I feel a little more refreshed.

Today DD2 and I are off to visit my Dad as it is his birthday.  Will take a cake round and his cards and gifts.  He mentioned about bringing wash stuff with us as we can have a shower which is much appreciated.  Really hoping that by the end of the week we can shower at home.

Other than that we have another 2 loads of washing to get done I think, and home made pizzas to sort, but will then sit back down and relax again.  DD1 & DS have gone off to work - expecting DD1 to collapse soon as she has done quite a few hours this week and is not used to it.

    Ok best get moving :)

Another fairly restful day here.  The sun was even out for a little while.  Went to dad's and enjoyed cake and a chat, as well as a shower.  We then came home tidy up a little and continue with the normal weekend bits.  Pizza was lovely as always and I am now sat reading while the football is on in the background, wondering if DS or DD1 will win the box of Maltesers in the family sweepstake..

The builders have confirmed that they are back tomorrow.  First to paint the ceiling and then main builder will join the younger lad to continue with other bits.  Hopefully we are on the home stretch now.

Final push at work too this week to finish everything off as well as getting a head start for next year.  I have a meal out with the ladies from work on Wed too which will be lovely.  I will certainly be ready for the holidays
