Just received a voucher for DS uniform which is very gratefully received.  We have been through his clothes recently and there is not much left that fits him.  The £60 will help get a few more shirts and a PE top for him which will help.  All these little extras that we get help with really do make such a difference.  I need to glue his sole back on his trainers too.  The shoes are in an ok condition but the bottom bit is a little flappy.  A bit of glue will keep them going for another month or 2 hopefully.

Where has the summer gone?  Raining and grey and chilly with no sunshine on the cards today.  We are all dressed in autumn clothes.  Fingers crossed that we will get some nice days soon.

We went into town to get the uniform (thought as he is a larger size it was better to go asap so they have stocks in), but the shop is shut on a Monday.  I was hoping to cross that off the list but I guess it wasn't to be.  We did drop off the clothes in the charity shop though.  We are hoping to go back into town tomorrow as we are off to crochet at the library maybe.  I also posted some letters that had been on the side for a while so not a complete waste of time.  Ooh and I collected the free ice cream that I had a voucher for.

Tonight's dinner is sausage mash and beans.  A firm favourite in this kind of weather in our house.  Might get my blanket out at this rate as my legs are feeling a bit cold.

While browsing fb I came across a company / book called Rebel badges.  It is like brownies / cubs badges but for adults.  You have to buy the book to see what you need to do to gain the badge, but from the website some of their monthly or quarterly challenges don't look too difficult.  I was a brownie and a girl guide and had arms full of badges so think I would enjoy this.  It will also get me trying new things and aiming for something.  I have used some of my vouchers to buy it off amazon and will have a look through it.  It will be a bit of me time each week.  I am looking forward to trying it out.  It might also be a good present for Christmas for a few people I buy for - we will see when it arrives.

Tomorrow we are off to the library to learn to crochet (hopefully).  They have a learners session in the am that we can only do in the holidays.  So we have a month to master it lol

Another wet day but managed to get a lot done in the past 2 days.

Yesterday we went to the library and joined a lovely bunch of ladies who taught DD2 and I a basic crochet stitch that we then practiced and think we got the hang of.  Next week we will move onto the granny squares.  We then went onto the uniform shop and managed to get a PE top, 2 shirts and a jumper for school.  All we had to pay was £2.70 as we had the voucher from school.

Today we went to my Dad's as we have been storing boxes there since 2018 (or at least that is the date that is on the newspapers that things were wrapped in.  We went through all of the boxes and discovered things we had forgotten about as well as things (an ice cream maker?) that we never knew we had.  We have sent a lot of paperwork to the bonfire, a trailer of things heading to the charity shop (once it has been boxes a little better), boxes of rubbish is heading to the tip in the next few days and then there was a small box or 2 each for us to keep.  All of the Christmas kitchen bits were in one box, my triffel bowl, carving knife.  We will be going through our garage next and then hopefully have less unwanted bits in storage.

So today was a no spend day - and we all received new bits to play with as such lol.  We also got some eggs from Dad's chickens so that was a bonus.

DD1 saw the old play car may being put to the rubbish pile as there was a big ink stain on one part of it so charity shop wont take it.  She decided to upcycle it to make new car mats for her actual car.  I think they look pretty cool and unique (will try to add a photo in a minute).

Love the car mats - much nicer than the usual basic black or grey and of course no cost!

I learnt crochet from youtube. Some great beginers projects on there and they teach everything step by step - of course pausing is a huge benefit :joy:

Thank you all for your comments.  I have tried to learn crochet with you tube but I found that I need someone in person and have already realised where I was going wrong with their help.  If I can learn the basics from the ladies at the library hopefully I can move onto books and videos to get further.

Just dropped DD2 off at the library for a day of art 10-3, lunch included all for free - yay.  She has done a day with this artist before and really enjoyed herself so fingers crossed for another good day.

Before this we chose and ordered her school shoes online.  Fingers crossed they are the correct size when they arrive.  We only have one very expensive shoe shop in town now so it is easier to order online.  As we have done it early enough if they are the wrong size we can send back and hopefully get a different size.  The pair she liked were £85, but settled on a similar pair for £30. The we ordered her pe hoodie and some black socks as she is down to 2 maybe 3 pairs.  They are asda ones though so not too bad.  Think we are nearly ready for back to school.

DD1's bday gift is being delivered today and I need to be home to sign for it and hide it away before she sees it as she will want it early.  So I guess I may be stuck here most of the day.  Will get older 2 to help put things away from yesterday and maybe we can make a start of the garage earlier than planned.  Looks like it is going to rain for most of the day again.  Really want some nice sunny days to get the washing on the line.

Just redeemed £10 worth of vouchers from my works perk website.  I normally claim £5 per month and then have points left over.  I have been waiting months to be able to use the extra points to get the second voucher lol.  August is the month.  I guess that has replaced the voucher I used for the book I bought the other day.  Also just received more stamps for my post survey that I do.  I have so many that I may put some up for sale or use them for postal entries for competitions.
