Hi, I’d really like to join in please - seriously need to get our grocery budget under control. Could you pop me down for £300 in January please?7

Can I join please. I have no idea what I'm doing on this thread or what to say for my budget so I will try one step at a time. I think my food bill for a month is about £350 that is for one person and 2 cats (£ 60 inc litter) and includes cleaning stuff it seems stupidly high. So, I'm going to try to reduce this month to £240 as I have stuff in the freezer, using the recipes. Next month I will have a better idea.

Lots of new people to welcome and wish luck to - don't be disappointed if it does not immediately go to plan - those habits have taken years to develop and it's hard going cold turkey (Ha!) to buying only what you absolutely need.
It really is possible and some manage to get to where they want to quickly. - me? it has taken a few years but now my budget is manageable, down from nearly £200 a week at its worst (three of us then; two now, plus pets with everything included) to an average of £200 a monthSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hi, I'd like to join please! A budget of £200 this month from 1st - 31st Jan (to include cleaning and guinea pig food) as have a full freezer and plenty of left overs, as well as enough cleaning items. I did* (*tried) this challenge a few years ago, but want to go into 2021 a bit more organised on several fronts, and this coming year would also like to reign in the food spend, as well as spend more time meal planning!
I managed a month of meal planning in November lockdown which worked well, though didn't really think of the cost, just food we enjoyed, and it was cooked from scratch. When looking at the actual meals/food we eat, I usually average around £70-£85 a month on food and cleaning, but do also spend a little extra each month to keep a stock of things for emergencies, so it's not actually that bad for 2 adults/2 ch 16 and 19. However, I have a tendency to not use what is in the freezer, go shopping, buy more items, and can then be shopping 2-3 times a week when I don't need to be! It all gets used, but I want to stop the extra trips. I have a delivery pass which will help stop me going!

I'd like to join please. I'm going to set an initial budget of £320 a month, roughly £80 a week. It's for two adults and three really spoilt moggies. I've joined the MFW this year as we only have £31 000 left on our mortgage and I'd like to get it gone as quickly as possible. Any savings I can make on groceries will go into our savings. £80 a week seems like a lot but over the last eleven months we've spent an average of £415 a month (YNAB user) but some of that could be from lockdown when OH was doing the shopping.Mortgage Free 23 December 2020

Hi @elsiepac Can I join in again please? I'd like to try to organise things a bit differently this year so instead of monthly I'm going to try a yearly budget!
Please put me down for....
£2000 for 2021.
That sounds like a scarily high amount just for me all added up, but it is only £20 odd more than I had budgeted for 2020!I'm also struggling a bit with the resurgance of depression and an old eating disorder so this needs to allow for occasional ready meals or food bought in T3sco express etc (ie more expensive) instead of a big supermarket when I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.
The £2000 is broken down into £4.50 per day (eg £139.5 for Jan) + £357.50 for bulk purchases over the year.First up is cleaning & reorganising my kitchen cupboards so I have a better idea of what I have in...Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
