What about those working Christmas Day?

Six adults, three households, none having outside contact with anyone else socially over the whole period except one couple seeing children in a split family on Christmas day itself, which I believe is allowable/excluded. I'm just trying to make sure that what we are planning is as safe as it can be and preferably within the guidelines. I don't expect the police on my doorstep over this but one of the six, an NHS employee, has already been in hospital with Covid and we know what it's like. And I ask, not just for us but for all the families who do have someone working Christmas day. Are they not allowed to have just one gathering to celebrate Christmas on a different day? Looks like another plan not quite thought through properly.sheramber said:
How small is ( smal) and what are the rest of the guests doing on Christmas Day? Are they mixing with others?swinstan said:The new limitations for Christmas are understandable but what about those having to work on Christmas day, notably NHS staff? We're in that position and we were planning just one day of (small) family celebration on Boxing Day. Has anyone seen anything suggesting that this is a reasonable adjustment in this situation?0 -
All the new rules are here. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/making-a-christmas-bubble-with-friends-and-family/making-a-christmas-bubble-with-friends-and-family which clearly state it's Christmas Day only, even for those working on Christas Day not boxing day. If you go ahead then that's a decision only you can make.

The decision was a little bit hasty imo
It should have been that families could meet up on any of 3 days but NO overnight stay (for example) - that way anyone stuck working around xmas still gets at least a day.
As is - those that are working are getting a right royal middle finger shown to them especially as these are mostly the groups of people that have kept the country running the last 9 months6 -
As above, a real fingers up to NHS and other key workers, proper them and us scenario.1

It wouldn't make sense to be able to elect to pick a different day, as it would mean people would meet up on Christmas day with one family, and on an elected day with another. It would be impossible to police (although I doubt it is possible to police it anyway).0

I can not see the police enforcing it in all but the most extreme breaches (very large, rowdy groups), as with every Christmas they will be dealing with the drink drivers and wife beaters rather than harassing someone's Grandma for visiting.Jeremy535897 said:It would be impossible to police (although I doubt it is possible to police it anyway).1 -
So any guesses at which MPs and Celebrities who will be caught breaking the Tier Guidance?1

There’s still going to be plenty of people that will ignore the guidance/law anyway and do as they please at Christmas. Already heard in local papers, on the radio and even people talking generally they won’t be adhering to it.0
