Sounds so challenging if they are both the opposite of each other! Kids eat in colour is a FB/Instagram page I swear by, she’s a paediatric dietician so has worked with all sorts from normal healthy eating to kids with eating disorders. One thing she says is if they are growing and gaining weight as normal they must be eating enough, even if you don’t think they are, so perhaps your DD just has the sort of metabolism that doesn’t need as much in? It is tough as you feel like a failure if they aren’t eating well.

My issue isn’t with quantity as such and both kids are normal weight, but Monkey (who is 5) was the best, most adventurous eater until age 3 - so easy to wean and I used to love taking him to ethnic restaurants (tapas, Thai etc) and he would hoover up tastes from all the adult’s meals. He would always eat his veg first!

Since 3 he has turned into a typical picky kid who likes kid food - he does eat a lot of fruit and raw veg (peppers, carrots etc) but refuses cooked veg, and he eats bread/toast, cereal. baked stuff like muffins/pancakes, desserts/sweets, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, soup, eggs, hot dogs, chips, cheese, hummus and that’s about it! He’s the opposite of your DD and wasn’t interested in cows milk after stopping breastfeeding but now won’t eat yoghurt anymore so I worry he doesn’t get enough calcium.

My two year old daughter was actually a lot harder to wean, she was only interested in boob 😆 but since I stopped breastfeeding she is eating like a champ and actually eats cooked dinners. I live in fear of her turning into her brother though!! I don’t pander to it, I just serve what we are having for dinner but it feels mean watching him pick at it every night 😬 so I totally feel your pain. You just want all the kids to enjoy eating and eating a reasonable amount so you know they’re not hungry.

  • Thanks @Bluegreen143 I'll have a look on her Instagram.  For now I've put a food routine on the fridge along with some guidance for me and oh re fluids and portion sizes for the kids different ages.
Will see how it goes. They will have breakfast, snack lunch, snack and supper like we did a few years ago. And if they get hungry in between they can have a healthy option (although they shouldn't need it as they will now be eating every 2-3 hours)
I don't know why but when we moved here alot of our routines went too pot. Including mine. So Im now trying to establish new routines in all aspects of our life.

    I'm feeling very tired today.
Downstairs is all done apart from mopping the floors , hoovering and decluttering the dining room.
I've had lunch so ill have a cuppa and see what I have the energy to get done

Oh I did a survey this morning which meant I could withdraw from PayPal
Sent £1 to very and 39p to the loan (I have updated post on first page)

I've also done another survey on prolific I'd done a few a few months ago too that I forgot about so once this survey is approved I think I'll be able to cash out. Its just over £5 so once I'm able to cash out I'll make another payment to very.

Today was also a no spend day.. I didn't get much done after this morning other than feeding everyone
So I'll crack on with it tomorrow..

Also I spoke to my manager I'm working 1 day a week for the next 3 weeks and having 2 days as annual leave. The rotas have already gone up and too give hours too me they would have to take hours off the other girls so it makes much more sense to do it this way, doing it that way no one looses out.
Also means I have loads of spare time to get the house how I want it and really crack on with selling stuff and surveys.

    Oh another quick update.
Dd is starting preschool next week !

Have a lovely evening everyone 😘

Good morning my beautiful diary friends,
I hope you are all well.. hugs to those that needs them..
We woke up this morning to more snow.

So we went sledging. The boys loved it..dd lasted all of 3 mins before she was saying she was cold despite being wrapped up and was actually nice and toastie.. she's not a fan of snow bless her.

In other news, I've cashed out from prolific so just waiting for that to hit my PayPal account and then ill transfer it too the bank and make a payment to very.

Despite our income dropping I'm feeling more positive and in control of the situation.

I'm hoping later in the year I'll be able to work more hours. (Health depending).

I've also decided any money left over from food or petrol etc I'll roll over to the next month or week for the times we need a bit more. If it gets to £100 extra then anything over the £100 will go as an extra payment for debt and sinking funds I'll just leave untouched. This is because in sept we have all 3 kids that will be in school so will need uniform and there are bound to be lots of school trips etc.

Yesterday was a no spend day. Today will be too.
We are doing a food shop every Thursday morning throughout this year, this is because during term time dd is at preschool and boys are at school so we won't have the kids asking for stuff (we all know that kids can make the shopping double in price lol)  This will also mean Xmas food shopping will be done the day before Christmas eve so that's fine.
I'm also going to try and walk to do the school run to save on petrol. Between mine and DP health at the moment this isn't always possible but we will try our best.

Also I have found a carboard box perfect for some of dds toys so I'm going to wrap it in birthday paper that I have and she can use it to store some of her toys in ... no spend win!

Anyway I'm going to try and get some stuff round the house and list some stuff for sale.
I'll aim for ten things today!

Have a great day everyone.. ill update this post below here with any updates throughout the day.

Love hugs positivity and prayers to you all x

ETA .. its now 6pm kids are eating dinner. I'm really not hungry so I'm gonna grab something later.
So I've made some good progress today. Our room is looking 👌 bed is made Christmas tree taken down, clothes away. Floor clear of c-ap, guest room / study is all good just needs hoovering. Our room also needs hoovering. Washing is on the airer in the lounge. Just a bit of tidying to do in there.

    Hi,
I have just read this diary and wanted to say hello 👋🏻

I did a phase of only offering what they didn’t eat for meals as their snack when I thought it was just evasion tactics. It definitely seemed to work, DS was the harder one but after a while would say I am full, I don’t want pudding, he is the younger one and has always had a much smaller appetite than DD so I think I was trying to make him eat too much for him. He is now almost 12 and eats a good breakfast but for lunch only wants half a wrap or sausage roll, either a few tomatoes or some fruit and a biscuit or cake, DD at the same age are double, both are very healthy weight so I have (eventually) stopped stressing about him. Your DD might just have a much smaller appetite and DD2 may not have the ‘full’ feeling so you might find you need different approaches with them. Good luck working it out as I know different rules for different kids is sooo hard.
  • @flipper_72 thank you. I definitely think different approach is the way to go with both of them.

Carpet in our room that has been sat in the corner 😳 is now in the car for the skip tomorrow

    Morning everyone,
Lots to get done today. Feeling quite tired and I have a headache. Hopefully I'll get a good chunk of stuff done. Skip shuts at 4 today so hoping I can get there about lunchtime.
Lots to do so I'll crack on and update later.

Made some bread and rolls. The 2 loaves of bread are in the oven one white one 50/50 and some wholemeal rolls are waiting to go in.
Got a couple of things crossed off my list and the people have come to collect the bricks I listed on free cycle.
Dd has took herself to bed to have a nap bless her
My priority today is to do at least one skip run

    Did one skip run
    Took Christmas trees down

Bread was a failure don't know what went wrong as I've used the recipe a million times before.

    Got a few jobs done.

Need to hoover lounge and dining room from taking the trees down
