Hello, we have had the first snowfall of the year overnight, it looks like a winter wonderland.Yesterday we had to try to fix our fire as it kept switching itself off so we decided to check it over. Unfortunately you have to take out the fire and the surround etc. to do that, so I took the opportunity to clean everything. Lots of dust decluttered. Nothing seemed wrong with the fire except all the dust, so it was put back and we will wait to see if it takes matters into it's own hands again. I also decluttered some skin from my arm when I fell over in the lounge
The family don't call me Calamity for nothing as I don't even need any ice, just thin air to fall over
I'm fine btw, just sporting a bruised arm and some pink skin.
Out into the recycling today a marge carton and a milk one, also more cardboard and 4 coffee pods. In the bin the packaging from the new coffee pods and a brown sugar bag. In the food waste caddy, 3 egg shells.MrsSD your coffee and walnut muffins are on the way, I hope half a doz will do for you. I'm afraid we ate 2 warm from the oven, didn't even have the chance to ice themTake care all, hugs to the poorly ones and anyone having a difficult time.nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Recycled all my old candle jars to a candle maker. I don't like putting them in the bin and she makes good use out of them. It was a carrier bag full so not the bin bags I've been counting. XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x11 -
Had a stressful week as my laptop finally died - it needed a new battery but the store was closed for lockdown and then the charging port broke. So it's sold for parts, and a new one is on the way.
93. Laptop - sold for parts
94. Broken external hard drive - luckily we have another one and it didn't have anything important on it
95. Other broken laptop MIL gave OH a couple of years ago - listed for parts now hard drive removed
96- 98. 3 candles - donated to friend - only 1 candle left in the house now!
99. Straighteners sold on ebay
100. Heatproof glove - didn't work burnt my hand through it - binned!
101-108. 8 bottles of shampoo, shower gel, bath foam, and hair serum - all unused donated to food bank
109. Dried out pack of baby wipes used up cleaning windows
110. Dried up oven cleaner - binned as almost finished
111. Deep conditioner that I hate the smell of - almost expired so binned
Also used up white vinegar spray, 2 almost empty bottles of bleach, stainless steel spray, dishwasher cleaner, and cleaning wipes. Going to stick a minimal all purpose cleaner for the next few months as I have 2 full bottles of it! Still using up all the tinned and freezer food from last year, going to declutter it all and then only buy what I need instead of hoarding."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." lE.m.m.a_2 said:😔 So sorry I have not managed to keep up with all the posts. I do hope everyone is keeping well. I’ve had homeschooling 2 little ones and a lot of real life hassles taking over but I’m trying to keep my chin up and keep on track with the mission - remembering that decluttering is my new hobby 🤣 I have found that doing a little a day has given me a little time and peace to myself. Honestly I’m *almost* beginning to enjoy it!
Just caught up with everyon's posts. I have to keep checking in to just keep up.
DH and I chopped a huge conifer down in the garden yesterday and he has been chopping it up today, until the snow started to settle anyway. DD and I have been using up brown bananas today for banana bread and wh also had a job lot form DS3's work kitchen of cream cheese and double cream. We made a huge cheesecake and two small ones to give away.
The snow gives me an excuse to do some sorting and possibly loading up the online sales.
Happy decluttering everyone and hugs for those who need it.

Ideas please - Made more soup today - made double quantities as DD seems to like soups I've been making and they last no time. Double quantities and she doesn't like it! quite bland carrot and sweet potato soup - any ideas what I can add and whizz up again?
1. Change flavour: Spice up with some chillies 🌶 (dried chilli flakes, powder or sauce bottle)? Or roast some garlic and then whizz in?
2. Change the texture: Add canned beans (such as red kidney or cannellini beans - tinned is fine). Or add boiled potatoes, rice, barley, etc.
3. Serve with different things: how about garlic bread, naan bread or lump of cheese on the side. Or grated cheese on top.
4. Change to a different dish - e.g. if a veg soup, could you use as a base for making bolognaise? Could then use with spaghetti, lasagne, etc?
5. Change the scenery.... warm soup in a flask always goes down well during a long walk outside.

I am overwhelmed with my clutter but just the little bits I’ve managed to do have made me feel better and happier about myself and my home. This is definitely a marathon for me, not a sprint! 😳114/2021 for 2021 OS declutter - have even been awarded 1x 🏅medal9 -

Changing my mindset has made a difference when I get the 'stalling/giving up' bit shifted. And yes.........a marathon !

Lovely to catch upon what everyone has been up to.
Mrs SD has a great way of motivating us, I agree @E.m.m.a.2 The words Mission rang true with me, I feel like I am on a mission to get the house the way I would like it. Also the declutter and CLEAN grabbed my attention because I also see cleaning as a major chore. I am trying to get to grips with more than just the basics cleaning wise, and also not needing to spend a whole day cleaning so fitting in bits here and there and trying not to notice IYSWIMI try to regularly give things to charity, probably more “stuff” than donating money these days, and since I had my LO I have sold some bits on flea bay as I have realised I can get a few pounds from selling a high chair and put it towards a bike for example then it doesn’t seem like such a big outlay.
I am slowly trying to use things up from the freezer, and I just cleaned the fridge and the kitchen worktops but that’s it for today.9 -

Coriander is fab with carrot, I used dried and fresh with fresh easier to add after its made., last batch I added cumin and chilli flakes .Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.9
