@Foofoopuppy....well done, especially the job and using up things and stopping things coming in esp against a backdrop of a difficult year.
Good to hear how everyone is, I've been away for a few days, abroad for the first time for many years, less a holiday than supporting DD1 - rained non stop but DD2 came 2 and we had some quality time and abit of family building, got DD2 a new passport, sorted all the paperwork (gosh so much), and declutted £££s. Back and realised how restful being in an apartment with not much - I know not RL but did feel cluttered at home and no space to unpack the many tests we have to do. So incentive for 2022.
Decluttered 100s of emails, about 100 chats on my phone and some contacts, resolution on a bank issue, and refund from train company owed since the summer. A few other frogs to try and sort out but will leave the physical decluttering for the 2022 train and will pop in there. Hope to see everyone there, and that everyone is having the best possible time. Can be a difficult time even in the best of years.
Take care and stay safe to see in a healthy and happy new year xx

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING

4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
So Boxing Day is almost over. Dinner was bubble & squeak using most of the vegetable los, some of the turkey & all the lo duck & venison. The remaining vegetables will be used to start a soup with the last of the gravy. Wudupa.
Whilst watching TV I have been giving some thought to my 2022 Daily Mantras - I have almost reached a decision 😉
2331 - 2334 Kitchen recycling, plastic bottle, cardboard packaging, small glass bottle - recycled
2335 Kitchen detritus binned
Thank you for putting up the link Radish72 👏 Hopefully it will avoid confusion 😉
Vascodakarma, what a joy to read your post - I always thought Sweden was the place to divest yourself of inhibitions 😉 You are making the most of your Icelandic trip and your determination to end 2021 on a high shines through 👏
Great work short_bird 👏 I have taken the liberty of reserving you a seat on the 2022 Decluttering train 😉
Lovely to see you Foofoopuppy 👋 and what a great idea to summarise all your successes of 2021 👏 I hope that you are proud of yourself & to bolster that feeling I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ I have reserved your seat for 2022 😉
It is always an eye opener when you stay in an apartment TC77 🙂 Whilst I agree it is not RL it does open one’s eyes to how many extra items we keep around & not necessarily sentimental items 😔 Excellent decluttering, especially dealing with so many frogs & phone calls 👏 Your seat is already reserved 🙂

Hi all, I have booked my place for next year
I really feel I couldn't have done anywhere near as much this year without the help of everyone here. I love to read how everyone is doing and when people get to the maintenance level it gives me hope that I can get there too.
, meanwhile the Dakar rally continued
Spent Christmas day with SiL and a few others, 6 altogether which was lovely, no cooking and loads of leftovers that have been eaten today. I take my hat off to SiL as despite the small numbers she was catering for 1 gluten free,1 vegetarian and 1 vegan plus 1 meat eater who doesn't really like vegetables. She did amazingly. I decluttered the last of the gifts but have some lovely things to sort out. Of all the presents I have been given there is only 1 thing I know I probably won't use so that is pretty good going
I have sorted out the wrapping paper and bags etc into what can be reused, recycled or binned and they are waiting to be put away etc. I was very lazy today as again no cooking required and I just lounged around watching the odd thing on the tv, dozing and reading. I did manage to declutter a face pack received as a gift. Tomorrow I will be aiming to make some soup from the left over bits, do a food stock take and a shopping lizt. I didn't do any real food shopping before Christmas as I knew we would be at SiL, even if we hadn't been able to visit for any reason there is usually enough food in the freezer to prevent starvation
@Mrs SD, oh what a shame about the champagne. I rarely drink as I am often driving but I would have been very upset if that had happened to me but great idea to use it to descale the toilet
I hope everyone has had a lovely couple of days
Take care everyone8 -
As @black-saturn did I joined at the end of last December, and although I've read the posts that's as far as I got
, so I'm throwing my cap through the door and sheepishly asking If it's OK to join in this year?
I did manage to declutter £££ as I had to replace a washing machine, a freezer and a vacuum cleaner!
Hope everyone is as OK as they can be. XXXXI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy7 -
Just love your beliefs, Chrystal, especially the last one.
Mrs SD, using the gone-off champagne in the loo- now that's what I call style!
A few more things out this year,
2 balls wool crocheted into another pair of ankle warmers
2 books for CS
2 glass jars for recycling. I did a maintenance declutter/stock-take under the sink.
total= 6+47=53/365/365
In other news , on Christmas Eve I went to the bookshop !!!!!! cafe and exchanged 12 books for 9 books + 3 mince pies to carry out. The books have been counted already and the mince pies decluttered. These 9 books will go back for further exchange so the overall number of books here is going down.
Of course, I am waiting patiently for the train, and continuing here until the official start date of the 2022 campaign.
Keep safe everyone and have a wee rest now and then.6 -

The last Monday of 2021 & it is dark, wet & miserable. Finally I have put away the clothes from the last time I did the washing - I needed the basket for the new washing 😉 First load of washing has finished & 3/4 of the load is now in td with rest draped over the stair banisters 😔 DSis & DH are still in their separate beds - before any of you get any ideas 🤣 Unfortunately today & tomorrow are Bank Holidays so no point in trying to make any phone calls re frogs but must make them on Wednesday.
Your seat on the 2022 Decluttering Train is reserved Liverpool_Anne 🙂 Agree with you that hearing about members of our decluttering family reaching the milestone of maintenance decluttering gives us all hope 👏 Sounds like you have had a wonderful Christmas & a great result in only having one present that was not to your taste 😉 At least the champagne came in useful 😉😉
No need to feel sheepish Chrystal - joining at the beginning of the year was your dry run at entering the world of decluttering - you have got into the habit of reading along & have almost certainly absorbed various ideas of how & where to start 🙂 I must admit having to replace so many items would have dampened my enthusiasm for decluttering 😔 So chin up & welcome aboard the 2022 Decluttering Train - your seat is reserved 🙂
retiredinfrance never been accused of having style before but I will accept the compliment gratefully 🙂 Great decluttering & what a great idea reducing your book collection gradually 👏 I love the idea of you waiting patiently for the 2022 train but at least you know it will leave on time 😉

Seasons Greetings Peeps,
Popping in here again and seeing you all getting ready for your journey into 2022. There are some simple sayings that I have applied in 2021- one being; one in one has to go out.
When up in the loft rule to never come down empty handed, it has to be with something extra i.e is to leave the house. I like the suggestion I have picked up today which is NOW. I need this as I am a procrastinator and as DH says I get easily distracted and have more than 1 thing on the go at the same time.
I never did finish the crochet blankets they are still WIP but are a lot bigger.
I really do have a problem of getting rid of clothes. Seriously some are 30 years old and would definitely save me as I always did my own styles. The statement of being worthy to wear nice clothes will be on my radar to do just that.
So I will be working on decluttering some bulk off me. I don't need or want it and as my health is OK (touch wood) at this time I need to preserve that fortunate position. I won't need any books as they are just about collecting dust.
Still WIP with DH being on board and he never questions me
Hope you all have/are enjoying the festive time and wish you well for 2022.
I'll be waiting in a wintery Lancashire station to come on board again.

2021 decluttering continues and found some less loved mugs that can leave the house.I have also tackled my only serious and pressing frog 🐸 my self assessment for 2020-21. The joy of having foreign dividends (shares in a Swiss company that I used to work for) necessitate the self assessment.Surprisingly negotiating self assessment is actually marginally easier than taking on the Swiss Tax system. I don’t enjoy either but it’s done and dusted 🎉✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

First wash-load dried & folded. Second load of washing done & half in the td. Having washed & dried the daily usage tablecloth I discovered that various grease stains were still evident so the tablecloth is now soaking in a solution of soda crystals 🤞I have used the avocados (from the veg box) & made guacamole. I have also made soup using los & lo gravy from yesterday + a bag of vegetables & a bag of precooked beetroot from the freezer. Also liberated a box of spaghetti Bolognese for my dinner (I will empty the freezer for defrosting 🤞- although it might take some time 😔) Lastly I used a bit of ribbon to make a tag to hang up a tea-towel which can now be used as a hand towel. It was useless as a tea-towel 😠 DH & DSis are having ham, oven chips & baked beans with a couple of fried eggs for DH.

Great post 2Scratters 👏 A couple of useful decluttering strategies which should help our new declutterers as well as the seasoned declutterers 🙂👏 Now, now you do NOT have a problem with clothes 😉 what you do have is a Couture Challenge which you are in training for 😂
I will be back shortly - dinner beckons 🙂
Back again.
2Scratters, I would leave your Couture Challenge until after you have successfully off loaded the weight that has crept on 🙂 I will try to arrange a blanket & a hot toddy for you whilst you are waiting for the Train 🤣 I can confirm that the heating will be on as you are shown to your reserved seat 😉
Great work on keeping up with the 2021 decluttering, florianatwobob 👏 and a medal 🏅 is coming your way for dealing with your Swiss tax frog 👏
