1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Where has the 1st week of January gone 😱 Thursday, I was up & dressed by 10:30 then the day went downhill from there 😞 Another dry, cold day. DH went to sm for usual Thursday shop. We had hm soup & crusty bread for lunch. Dinner was burgers in sesame rolls (DH & I added relish, mayonnaise, lettuce & cornichons) with oven chips & baked beans. Washing up done.I have spent the day trying to clear down programmes from TV planner but falling asleep frequently & taking 2 hours to watch a 50 minute programme 😱😞 Earnest did not put in an appearance at all ☹️66 - 69 Kitchen recycling, newspaper, cardboard box, drinks cans - recycled70 Kitchen detritus binnedruby_eskimo, quite agree best to wait until the world is safer.Well done pamsdish 👏 I never understand why people do that - wastes your time & stops you doing other things 😠 Good idea re phone boxes 🙂Great work ClaireT13 👏 I especially like your solution to DSs home schooling 😂Well done D123456789 👏 My preference would be N*tflix 😉😁

Good work newlywed 👏 Interesting reading newlywed - It is sometimes very difficult to combine decluttering & being eco friendly ☹️ but if we are clutter free then we are less likely to buy more stuff - clear spaces are rather nice 😉
What a great idea moneyonmymindsam 👏 You have been busy 👏 Also thank you for reminding us to be happy with progress & tidiness rather than perfection 👏 One medal 🏅 on its way 🙂
Great work bit_by_bit 👏 As you say, with a bit of research there appears to be far more places to ‘donate’ to & once Covid19 is finally under control it should be even easier 🤞

Eh ? ...what did I say, what did I say ?
Anyhoo.......
started this year off with a bang. Then stuttered to a stop so have decided to donate January to myself to pick a style and rhythm that I can manage.
It has taken me all of my life to reach a point where I am absolutely convinced I am ADD/ADHD. Hence no focus whatsoever and I am getting worse. So with all this self-awareness here is what I have decided.
1) Target 104 (doubled as it was 52) bags for the year as I am including EVERYTHING that leaves the house. Keeping a tally will be easier.
2) Have opened separate bank account to deposit money earned by hopefully selling a good portion of the clutter. Other bank account will cover all direct debits with surplus at the end of month going towards becoming debt free. I have never sold on ebay/facebook marketplace. Fingers crossed.
3) I have at least one thousand books. Sadly not worth much but loved by me. Have decided to let go and sell where I can, donate where I can. Every penny counts.
I hope it's okay for me to report all of this here. I was going to join some other threads so that I could track my progress but even just the thought sent me into extreme tiredness/lethargy. Let me know. Keeping things extremely simple is going to be my route to success. I am convinced of that.
What have I done so far ?
4/104 bags
Bank account opened
Taking the advice of 'just do something'.......500 emails deleted.
Bathroom cleaned from top to bottom, including walls and windows.
And then day to day cooking, walking dog, washing up etc.........
Thank you all for such a great support group. Wishing you all well.

Bala - your post made me think.i too want to make things simpler. I am similar in so many ways. I flit from job to job cant focus but also dont complete tasks which often leaves a trail of mess.I have been on a long declutter journey and realised its ok to keep tweaking things until you find something that works for you. My goal is a minimum of 1 item a day because when i take on too much too quickly i burn out. In reality most days i get rid of more but the "one thing" keeps me focused and its hard to fail . Daft as it sounds i use a timer to keep me on track ( not the one on my phone as that distracts me news checking etc😯)
Biggest dilemma at moment is getting it out of the house. Where can it go to keep it out of landfill?
Im sure there are places that need things other than charity shops so if anyone can help with that.? Ive donated a lot of books to the school library (also board games to their games club) and books to public library in the past. Towels and pet products to a dog charity.Any other thoughts would be welcome 😊13 -
Hi GT
in the last lockdown some charities allowed you to bag things up and then send the package to them. They covered cost of postage (I think). I saw it on the 'Charity Shops' thread. Will go over and ask.

What I tend to do is check the price on Ziffit (that site is usually the best for me) and see if it is more than I would have sold the book for on faceb00k. If so then it stays in the ziffit pile. If it is a few pence or they don't want it I try and sell through Facebook- often bundles of similar type paperbacks for a few £. Hardbacks and non fiction i list as (say) £1 each or 6 for £5 and put up pictures of whatever I've got. If they don't sell at that price then I reduce it and keep it on there (assuming a ziffut type site doesn't want them) x
