My decluttering offerings today-The contents of all upstairs bins.Caravan mag, finally finished the crossword !Empty carton of tomato juiceEmpty bottle of fresh n upRechargeable torch which doesn't, recharge I mean. Sad to see that go but it's served it's time.Off now to declutter the dust and grime from the upstairs, could be a while it's a devil to pin downBala I hope I'm not speaking out of turn but you must do what you need to get by, the easiest way for you to cope and I think you are coping very well. My Dad, 91, is on the spectrum we think ( it really reared it's head after my Mum died ) and lockdown has made him 10x worse. He's happy to live alone but he needs persuasion and encouragement to even sort out his shopping list for me to do an online shop for him. Trying to get him to throw anything out is extremely hard work and sometimes I have to put things back for another time before he has a meltdownSorry to disrupt the thread.nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently16

Morning all. Managed to declutter some money from my bank account by doing my first food shop of the year. That's it for today so far.13

Getting cross now, decluttering curtains, bedding and throws, selling, nominal amount, or gifting on F/B some small items gone into C/S pile, but that is reaching mammoth proportions, then people just don`t show up, I have spent the day, photoing, listing, answering queries and they don`t show, how can people be so rude, not even a courtesy text sorry, and depriving someone in real need of a warm throw, or curtains to keep out the draughts. ok, rant over.
Do I need it or just want it.13 -
thriftwizard said:The only room that's free is the one that OH has been using as his WFH office... Fitting OH's office into the small bedroom won't be a big issue (though he doesn't like the view in there!) but DS3 is going to need 2 large bookcases and a "proper" desk. So I need to redeploy a lot of books, find out what a "proper" desk looks like to him, and get hold of one, preferable without spending much money!
Decluttering here is going pretty well
73-76 Four candles unused gifted to friend who loves candles
77 headband that always slips off in the middle of washing my face - recycled78-79 half used lipglosses with glitter in that are too young and glittery for me – binned
80 straighteners – donated to teenage neighbour as I’m staying curly
81 cuticle cream – used a couple of times, got 2 Christmases ago so expired – binned
82 small wooden drawer unit from hall – this sat on my console and got stained with oil from OH’s car stuff – put in recycling
83-87 old home interiors magazines I got from special offer last year – I tore a couple of inspo pages out for my pinboard and recycled the rest
88 half used bag of rabbit hay in back of cupboard – smelled of mould so binned
89-91 old email accounts with accompanying thousands of emails
92 another broken USB cable binned
All of my makeup and toiletries have now been organised together in one place instead of spread across the house, handbags, car, and gym bag I haven't been able to use since March. I'm using up all the half used bits and bobs before starting anything new, and not buying any new products until I'm on the very last one of each product - and even then I'm going to consider if I really need it or I'm buying out of habit. I'm not going to stop using deodorant but I don't really need lots of different types of body moisturiser! It should be at least 2022 before I need to worry about toiletries and makeup though, apart from sunscreen.
While OH is off this weekend I'm planning on getting a lot of cleaning done so a lot of the half finished cleaning products will get used up - we keep them both in the kitchen and bathroom, so have lots of duplicates. I've decided to organise all the cleaning stuff for the bathroom into one basket so it's just a grab and go when it's bathroom cleaning time. That will cut down on bathroom clutter significantly as products get used up. I also have the same situation with my home office, I have lots of stationery products in the dining room too as I tend to work downstairs about half the time to keep an eye on the rabbit, and it's more relaxed. So I want to get all my work supplies together in one place and use up the duplicates.

newlywed said:I read An interesting comment about decluttering and keeping things “in case”...
Do you think the world will run out of it and you will never be able to buy it if you need?Whilst recycling things is good, it has made me wonder whether having less clutter and more space that’s easier to clean is worth just buying certain things a second time - if I do ever find I needed it!
Plus very often we would re buy something anyway because the thing we've kept can't be found!!!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.15 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Thank heavens the iPad has the day & date on it 👏 otherwise I would have no idea when I am 😉😂 Friday is absolutely freezing but at least dry & all I have done since 10:30 (when I got up) until 5 minutes ago was clear a few more programmes from TV planner. However Earnest put in a very brief appearance - DH has emptied peelings into compost bin, emptied & refilled all the bird & squirrel feeders; I finally moved the last of the cleaned, filled & oiled garden furniture from the dining room to the shed (wouldn’t fit in garden box ☹️) + relocated a couple of other bits to shed. Weeded one pot but then retired to the warmth of the house 🤣
Oh well, something is better than nothing 😉
Battery is depleted so will come back later for cheerleading 😉MrsSDDecluttering Target: 2021 70/2021Savings Pot:Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £228.00

Well, that didn't last long! 8 days and I crack.
In, 2 new to me jumpers. So as penance a jumper and a top I have never worn out.
I have done nothing today also except have a bath and read.
I was woken when it was still dark by cat 1 who kept coming to complain that I hadn't turned the outside heating up for him.
I will shortly clean the bathroom and put some washing on.
I can't remember the last time I went out of the house, might have to take Mr V's job off him. He likes to take the recycling out so he can say hello to passers by.
