Bala that is amazing to declutter a car.Mothernerd you have moved mountains.Thank you all for comments about my imposter syndrome. I just sit here and babble. It really does help me organise my thoughts. I love to hear everyone’s chat too.
I have been out this morning with my Mum and Brother. It is his birthday today. This time 54 years ago we had snow.So far today I have given the garden bench it’s 3rd and final coat of paint and wrapped 12 chocolate oranges with smaller pieces of recycled paper. I have put the heating on and sat down and intend to write Christmas cards.Vx:10 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
Wednesday has been dry so far but dark, overcast & very windy. I am sitting here in my dressing gown & drinking my 2nd mug of coffee.
2220 - 2221 Kitchen recycling, newspaper - recycled
2222 Kitchen detritus - binned
I am going to make a concerted effort to catch up on the cheerleading now 🤞
What an absolutely brilliant post oceanspirit 👏 deserving of a Gold Star ⭐️ which is on its way. Your first two paragraphs summed up the ethos of the Decluttering Thread & very succinctly 👏 With your permission, I would like to incorporate them into the initial post of next year’s thread 🙂 Great work on the cleaning 👏 & good luck with sorting the kitchen before C Day 🤞
elsien, definitely NO imposters here ‘wagging finger emoji’ Maintenance decluttering & prevention of new clutter is important - oceanspirit described it perfectly 🥳 So well done in making a home 👏
Vascodakarma what a nightmare 😖 Surely the landlord/agent is not entitled to go looking into cupboards & photographing contents - it seems like an invasion of privacy to me. No wonder you feel unsettled & unsafe in your own home ☹️ Have you spoken to the Citizens Advice Bureau to find out your legal rights? Shame about your nice dentist returning to Romania ☹️ & having to switch to a private dentist 😔 We have been very lucky with our dentist - he is Serbian & has stayed here with his family 🥳 Glad the rubbish bits of your week are done & dusted and that you have such lovely things to look forward to 🙂👏 A spontaneous family get together, meeting up with your new ‘friend’ & trying out your gear for the Iceland trip 🙂 As you say YOLO & you can’t take it with you 😉
Well done on fitting in some ‘you time’ bit_by_bit 👏 I hope DH did more than comment 😉 & isn’t leaving everything up to you 🤔 perhaps he can take the bags to the CS? Great work on sorting out a couple of frogs 👏
Wow mothernerd, you have been busy 🤩 You are an inspiration to us all 👏 Very pleased to see that DS3 & Beloved are participating a bit more 🙂 However I am very proud of you for ‘sticking to your guns’ & booking a whole house clean rather than just the kitchen & bathroom 👏 It might be expensive but well worth it 🙂 The decks will be cleared and 15 minutes per day from 3 people should keep it clean, clear & tidy 👏 especially as you are powering along with the decluttering 👏🥳 Which reminds me - one Gold Star ⭐️ winging it’s way to you as you are already a quarter of the way to your target 👏
A bit harsh of your DDs to blame you TC77 ☹️ after all when a cat wants to get out, it will 😔 Fingers crossed that the cat will return soon 🤞 Excellent decluttering 👏
Ouch Floss 😣 Hope you can get a new boiler quickly 🤞
Thanks Blackberrycurved 👏 The kitchen mantra is currently the only one I am keeping up with 😔 Fingers crossed that the cleaner turns up 🤞
Good work EnergyShifter 👏 Hopefully the old padded jacket has one more winter in service 🤞You are tantalisingly close to reaching your target 🙂
Shame you are aren’t counting your decluttering by weight balabooberlies 😉😉 First a sofa, now a car 👏 21 years of service is amazing - your car was obviously well loved & well taken care of 😁
Now, now vulpix - not babbling just organising your thoughts & giving the rest of us food for thought 👏 Happy Birthday to your brother 🎂 Good luck with the card writing 🤞
P.S. DSis has just gone out & I am about to get dressed ……. finally 😉 DH has painted the bedroom door 👏

Good news that the cat was hiding indoors TC77 😉 Hope your DDs apologised 🙄 Good idea to concentrate on frogs 👏 as they prey on your mind until dealt with 😔 Which reminds me I have a couple of calls to make before they become frogs 🙂 Thanks for the reminder 👏

Yay, there’s going to be a thread next year. Thank you for all your hard work running the thread Mrs SD - it is very much appreciated - and thank you everyone for posting and sharing your ups and downs, successes and disappointments and future plans.I know I don’t acknowledge other posters very much - chronic fatigue amongst other things prevents me from thinking straight most of the time, but every post helps to keep me on track and I know I wouldn’t have managed to carry on and get as far as I have without the thread so I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you all.
Right, enough of the soppy stuff! I know I said I was going to keep the living room tidy but OH got the Christmas boxes down for me yesterday and I have made a mess. It is only temporary though - I wrapped his presents last night along with a couple of others. A few more to do tonight and I will put up some decorations tomorrow and write cards over the weekend. Hopefully the boxes can go back up on the shelf on Sunday evening.
One item decluttered yesterday - a birthday gift bag that I have never liked but was too good to throw away however I noticed that it had a sharp piece of metal attached to it that was going to be difficult to remove, so into the bin it went.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅11 -
Cats, bless em. TC77 they know which side of their bread is buttered. Within 2 minutes of me putting the newly made blanket and cushion on the freshly painted bench, long haired cat was asleep on them!
I have decided that I need one more cushion for my Christmas garden seating . DD1 gave me cushion pads and that will use up the remaining fabric. I will also make some covers for cushions I already have with Christmas fabric I already have. I hand sew, too much of a faff to get the machine out.
I have brought another wooden garden chair in to dry out to use as emergency seating. It has a lot of slats so not painting it. It would take too long.
You can see I will do anything except cleaning.
I spent all last night making clementine chilli jam. I will throw it out today. I was too heavy handed with the ginger and spices. It is nasty. I don't have the heart to do all that chopping again.
All the rain has given me a waterfall in my back garden. The stream from the wood should go into a culvert and then into the river (the source of the river Mersey). It is blocked somewhere and takes the easiest route through my garden. Next doors garden is lower than mine ,he has a large lake forming. Video sent to the council. Everyone is avoiding responsibility for the blockage. This is a very long standing frog. Our local councillor is aware and may get somewhere as she did get the dangerous tree chopped down.
Not a single Christmas card written, maybe today haha.
We have put a new shower curtain up. I have kept the old one, it actually MAY come in useful. I should put a time limit on how long I should keep it for, You can guarantee if I bin it I will find a use for it the next week.
Have a nice day folks Vx:12 -
I did more decluttering the past few days. I have found lots of things to donate or just to chuck away.
I also went through the storage boxes in the garden as the storm blew the lids open the other night and made a mess. I found some pet paraphernalia to throw away.
I have tidied almost every room and cleared the surfaces to a minimum and I am going to leave it like this in case we have to put our house on the market again in the new year. I cleaned the windows too.
I am going to do the last room which is the kitchen tomorrow.

I have done quite a bit yesterday and today but have left my notebook behind (it was upstairs and I was having trouble walking in a straight line so hauling myself back up the stairs was impossible. I did take 58 items to the food bank today - this is part of my reverse advent calendar, so keeping that separate (but reserve the right to include it, if I start to flag and need a boost to help me keep going). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8
