Back from a little holiday in Edinburgh with DD. Did some shopping, ate lots, spa time etc. Received a 'contact with Covid advice message' on the train on the way home. Fully vaccinated so don't think I have to do anything unless I have symptoms but totally confused by the rules.
1626 Some extra Christmas decorations gone
1627 Cardigan to CS bag - I did get 2 nice new ones
1628 Most of Christmas cards written on train and posted

Morning all. Glad to hear DSis is on the mend @Mrs_Salad_Dodger and another one here who loves the idea of your DH visiting all the tube stations, maybe something to add to my bucket list eventually. I do have IG @vulpix but don't really post, only use it to "stalk" celebrities really 😆
House was cleaned top to bottom for our honoured guests on Saturday - following Team TOMM really helped actually so all I had to do on Saturday was clean the bathroom while DH vacuumed again 👍 Had a lovely few hours catching up and entertaining the baby (still don't want one of my own though 😆). Then Sunday we went to help MiL clear out DH's godfather's house. After 4 hours and 3 tip runs it was sparkling and we even "dressed" the house ready for estate agent pictures this week. Brought home 4 crates of assorted model train related objects which are currently in our spare room. Need to go out at the weekend and get some proper storage bins for it all so it can then be packed away into the loft.
Tuesday is bedroom day so bed has been stripped and sheets are in the washing machine. Will remake it when I've finished work and then run around with a duster and some polish. Still have a few hot spots to declutter but not sure I'll get round to them this side of Christmas.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201711 -

No need for imposter syndrome - this thread isn’t just about getting rid of things, it’s about changing houses into homes, it’s about understanding ourselves and how we got into a mess in the first place and learning where we need to make new habits to prevent a rematch.
Mental clutter (frogs and long “to do” lists included) and electronic clutter as well as physical items contribute to holding us back from doing other things in life so keep posting for as long as you wish to continue. I for one love reading about your projects vulpix as it helps inspire me to continue to look forward to having both physical and mental space to get on with pursuing my dreams rather than moving things around all the time.
I agree with you about the tv programmes, I think if I had decluttered that fast the space would have felt terrifying and I would have filled it back up again. The slow speed is definitely working better for me and I think I am learning more about myself that way.
Chimney was swept yesterday so cleaning the empty living room and the sofa etc was where my energy went. I am determined not to put anything back in there that doesn’t belong. The clutter will have to stay in the kitchen until sorted and it needs to be done before a certain date and the cooking of a roast dinner!
Shower curtain and toilet seat not fitted yet as the bathroom needs a proper clean first. Hoping OH will help me with that at the weekend.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅10 -
Last night we did the Christmas decorations which led to a perfect decluttering opportunity:
351-355 - 5 packs of disposable cutlery. we never use it, no idea how many years it's been stored with Christmas stuff. Was Cardboardy type so in the recycling.
356 - Pegbag, a previous Christmas gift I kept in case I needed it, but already had one so not really sure why I did
357 - Fully used tealight which had been put back with the fresh ones
358-361 - 4 candles which don't ever seem to burn. they go with a 'Noel' decoration and i remember problems with them last year. so in the bin (without telling DH who seems to have an obsession with keeping candles justin...)
362 - Christmas tree lights - didn't work, didn't work last year, convinced DH to put them in the scrap pile
363 - A bag of 'moused' tinsel from the loftSo close to my target I can taste it

Vulpix, we can be imposters together.
I am working on the basis that although there's very little going out, there's also an awful lot less coming in so maintenace of the existing spaces is just as important.
And decluttering the headspace as well. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.10 -
