Evening all. Still following although not posting much.
Decluttered a tree from the garden which took most of the day and several trips to the tip. Weed killered the trunk in the hope I might be able to dig the stump out come spring. Also took a load of bags of spent compost down.
Not much indoors - a cushion cover, a broken HUDL and a garden hoe have now left the building. I was tempted to hang onto the cushion cover because it’s a nice silk colour and the material “might come in useful” but none of the bits of material I’ve accumulated over the years have come in useful so far so I let it go, I’m getting there! Also decluttered some work time owing into a spa day which was very relaxing,Main task last week - making an appointment for free will week. No idea what I want to put in it but I’m working on the basis that having an appointment will force me to think about it. That’s the theory anyway.Next job - sort out the back porch which I did earlier this year then backslid. Wilko’s end of season gardening sale is a weak spot - I do wonder how much rose food one small garden needs.Need to start a “it’s only a bargain if you actually need it” mantra. Still struggle to resist a bargain.Keep decluttering, folks. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.7 -
Hi all, not been on for a couple of days and so many posts
I have not read and inwardly digested them all yet but thanks to everyone for their support. The funeral service on Friday was lovely and was a celebration of my friend's life. Only 30 allowed in but the weather was kind and there was at least 50 outside so they left the doors open and had a speaker outside so we could all hear what was said. She had chosen her own music and planned everything herself. The thing that stays with me is to be so grateful she was part of my life. I think this is quite important and while I will always miss her my life was better for knowing her. Yesterday I was still quite down and did very little except empty the bins and clean the bathroom and toilet. Today I have taken advantage of the lovely weather and put a load of washing on and got it line dried. Then this afternoon I went to meet a friend who loves to windsurf at a local venue. I took a picnic and we had that with coffee made in her little van. I also decluttered some meals from my freezer for her, mainly various portions of soup and a veg stew as she is veggie like me and often can't be bothered to cook for herself, and a jar of pickled beetroot. We had over 2 hours of glorious sunshine before the slight wind got a bit chilly, there was not enough wind for her to windsurf, and had a lovely time. It really helped me declutter some of my down ness iykwIm so well worth it. We kept saying we couldn't believe how lovely it was for October.
I will go back and read all the posts again but I do want to say welcome @Blackberrycurved, you couldn't have joined a nicer group of people
Take care everyone7 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
Sunday was a mixed day weatherwise - dry, wet, bright, dull but thankfully no wind 😉 DH continued with the bedroom decorating - he put a 2nd coat of white paint on all the walls & glossed the window sill 🙂👏 I harvested 3.9kg of mainly green tomatoes - I see chutney making in my near future; cleared down a few programmes from TV planner & cooked a full roast dinner - roast pork with crackling, roast potatoes & parsnips, mashed sweet potato, sprouts, broccoli & carrots. Such a faff but it was delicious especially the crackling 🤤 DSis didn’t have sprouts, the mash or parsnips 😔 P.S. I love my warming drawer as timings on vegetables are my downfall 😔 Btw did anyone watch The Lark*ns? I was just about coping but then they introduced the new version of the tax inspector 🙄 Wudupa.
1905 - 1907 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, paper packaging - recycled 1908 - 1910 Kitchen detritus, used paint tray liner, plastic packaging - binned
Great work florianatwobob 👏 Hope you had a flurry of purchasers for your bay of e listings 🤞
Excellent work GrannyKate 👏 especially in the garden 👏🙂 On-line domestics are nowhere near as much fun to watch/listen to 😉😉 but easier to avoid getting dragged in 🤞
Good work TheMsTeale 👏
Blackberrycurved, weird things become ‘frogs’ - for me it is phoning financial institutions (other than my bank) As to your ‘frogs’ - bins & quilt cover - well done on dealing with them 👏 & now that you have written down how long they take, perhaps next time you will remember that the tasks are not massive 🤞🙂 You are hardly being profligate hiring a cleaner for 2 hours once a fortnight 🙂 (As an aside, Whenever I summon up the motivation to start cleaning I get distracted by other things or get bored 😑 so the cleaning doesn’t get done 😔 )
bit_by_bit, I agree the little wins keep us going & I for one am encouraged by everyone’s successes 👏🙂 Absolutely excellent work in the garden 👏 I have to confess I am rather jealous that you have a hedgehog 🦔 but am also very impressed at the care & planning so that 🦔 will be safe in your garden 🙂👏
Good work short_bird 👏
TC77 an eclectic mix of tasks completed, well done 👏
Nice to see you elsien 👋 You have been busy 👏 especially persevering with the tree & going to the tip 👏 Did you let go of a few more bits of material that were saved for Justin 😉 Good luck with the will appointment 🤞 I do like your new mantra “it’s only a bargain if you actually need it” 🙂 perhaps you should write it on a post-it 🙃😉😉 A spa day sounds wonderful 🙂👏
Liverpool_Anne, a lovely testament to your friend 🙂 a celebration of her life & so well attended. What a beautiful way to remember your friend 🙂 Well done on decluttering the washing & drying 👏 Sounds like you had a wonderful time with your windsurfing friend - a perfect way to declutter down ness 🙂

Hi,
Great to hear of everyone's progress.
BBC, I loved having a cleaner when I worked full time and had 3 kids at home. Thursday night was" tidy up, chippy tea" night. The kids loved it. I should bring that back for Mr V and me!
I actually think that I would do better if I had a routine, but I find it hard to have one recently. Perhaps now I have done a major sort out and everything has a home I can make a house routine. Cleaning, washing etc. I might even find some time to do some ironing!!!!!!!
Grannykate was the online row akin to the Jackie Weaver council meeting?
Well what a beautiful day yesterday. A lovely treat, and it sounds like you all got plenty done. As I was packing up at the carboot sale there was a butterfly fluttering about.
So, the remains of mine and DD1's car boot stalls are packed and ready for the charity shop. I have kept a dress, a top and a jacket. Everything else is going. Yes Mrs SD, the suitcase went with the donations to The Sally Army.
Already I am mentally earmarking things to go in the next round of sorting. I am giving myself at least a week off. Some gentle cleaning is needed now the mess is almost gone. I still have crafting things out in various stages of completion. I decided to do another quick blanket before they are collected on Friday, the Halloween bags still not finished etc ,etc.
I also need a garden tidy before the deluge of leaves from the wood at the side of the house fall. Sweeping leaves will keep me busy for several weeks to come. We are also going to empty the big shed so Mr V can build his studio again.
Today I have the dentist then off to meet an old friend from Mr V's clubbing days for coffee then onto another friend to drop off some foxgloves that I have potted up for him. I shall wear the rescued dress and biker jacket!
Love to all

Husband was filling up a container for Africa again with secondhand tyres, for a friend who sells secondhand car tyres. We always put some of our own old stuff in for husband's relatives, so out went:1 large plastic plaid bag full of dd2's and mine outgrown clothes and some toysa fitness bike (a gift from husband for my birthday 9 year ago; I hate stationary bikes and have only used it 3 or 4 times)a party tent frame (the cover was nibbled to bits by a rat and thrown out; the frame is still in perfect condition and will be perfect for holding up a mosquito net)Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.599

Hi all
@Vulpix - yes the on line spat resembled that meeting you mentioned although it was outwith of the committee meeting - I'm ignoring it as to do with egos mainly and I've had no part of what caused it. One of the most unpleasant voluntary meetings I ever attended was the Parochial Church Council - a bunch of very unpleasant 'Christians' attacking each other and the vicar - not exactly what you expect. Many years ago now. I left lots of things in last year of DH's life but have gradually volunteered for odd things again - I never understand why people need to be so unpleasant to each other when we are all giving our time and expertise free. At least at work you are being paid to be insulted.
Went early to do school run then straight back home. Doing some bits in study for an hour - went to make tea then realised my drive completely blocked in by roadworks. They could have knocked and asked if I wanted to move car. Good job I don't need to go out again. Did some random cleaning. Washing on line.
