@balabooberlies, so sad to hear about your childhood sweetheart, I think when someone we're close to or have been very close to and is a similar age there is an added sadness, I do hope you are being gentle and compassionate to yourself
@3secondmemory..how fantastic that you've made such progress, and I can imagine very frustrating but impressed by you powering through things

Had to find important document for DD1 and realise I have too many places I keep the same type of things - I blame it on too big a house but I think I just haven't got the 'like with like' system which I think I need to do. I really don't want to spend so long looking for things - although have given a 'home' for my key to patio door.8 -

TC77 I have had a Lidl pepper box as my office for about 10 years now ! Perfect size for folders. So much easier to have everything in the same place and easy to pick up and take in an emergency.
I have a day off today. I have wombled some gardening supplies. My friend is coming to visit so will share with her and what she doesn't want she can pass on at her allotments. I swore to stop taking on other peoples stuff but this offer was too good to pass by.

Had a good day yesterday
Cleared some admin frogs registered online for my new pension. (After semi retiring - they made me join another one, well I suppose its cheap savings and work is adding to it for me too
Did some sorting of online banking for DH & DS sorted extra for savings too and paybacks.
Did paper filing too and shredded rest.
Located expensive picture collage of myself and found a large frame and backing paper for it too from the loft. DH and myself put it all together looks really good. DH commented saying you couldn't see my frecklesShame its taken me 11 years to get to the point of displaying it.
Also brought out some candle holders that were expensive at the time and DH has placed them on an outside wall (at my request even though they are designed for inside) after removing a very large dummy alarm box.
WUDUPA by DH when I went to the hairdressers.
We found 2 tubs commercial hand conditioner with lanolin in it, in the loft, topped up one then fetched down the one with least in to be decanted into a suitable vessel from the bathroom which will be sometime next week. It smells lovely too.
A box of foot treatments popped up too when routing in said loft, so that is now down and started being used last night.
Hoovered up.
I had got DH to help move to very old/vintage chairs I had purchased with intention,( I have since changed my mind) from the back bedroom to take outside so I could photo them. They have been there at least 3 years so he gave them a good clean down they now look fab. He moved them to the workshop/shed as he said if they don't sell he'll keep them!! More space in the room now. There is also a large amount of laminate flooring in there also which was bought with the intention of doing the whole bungalow. 1 bedroom has been completed with it, as of this morning I have decided to sell the rest as I have other plans
Found 7777 emails on an account I don't use very much so just deleted 1100.
Have a great weekend all, stay safe

Morning all, hugs to all that need them and congratulations to everyone that's making progress.
Have sold 2 items this week so that's better than nothing leaving the house. Have had a busy couple of days with work so have fallen a little behind with cleaning but it's not the end of the world. Have written a little list of things to do today and tomorrow, namely return a library book and buy some more shampoo among some life admin type of things.
DH has made so much progress with the garage to the point where it is now watertight and secure so he's moved all of his stuff from under the stairs into there now. He even put an extra shelf up for me under the stairs so I can now start turning it into more of a pantry and move some of the lesser used kitchen bits into there, thus freeing up space! We've had a little emergency food stash hidden away in various places for a while, but now I can start organising it and putting it all in one place.

Morning all, had a busy day yesterday putting the spare bedroom back to normal after decluttering the DGD to her home. I cleaned everything from ceiling to floor but Demolition Dora (me) decided to snap a castor clean off the spare bed. I'm going to blame the manufacturer (DH made it from scratch) for shoddy workmanship 🤭 Now it has to be replaced but I shall buy an extra one in case Demolition Dora turns up again
I checked the spare store cupboard too for any OOD 's, sadly 3 items were really OOD and I'm annoyed with myself for missing those 😠
Anyway here's yesterday's decluttering list :-2 pot noodles OOD1 pkt mash potato OOD3 tins to foodbankSplit Ice cream carton ( used as a packet holder )Head set ( inner disintegrated )HM satellite dish bag for 'van - replaced by store bought oneGo local mag - read and recycledSeveral letters - all read and disposed of correctly2 med empty plastic crates to DH's shed ready for the big tidy/ clear outEmails deleted, not counted those but a lot.Sadly no big ticket items though 😒Hope everyone has a goodish daynanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently9 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILYThursday was a success. DH & I up & dressed before 8.30 a.m as visitors expected by 10.00 a.m. DSis up about 9.00 a.m. DH decided to get the wooden garden furniture out - hooray to battery operated screwdrivers 🥳 Got a message to say family we’re running late 😉 I washed the wicker type backs of the bench seat & 2 chairs which all dried in the sun 🌞 DH had to go up into the loft to get the garden furniture seat cushions 😱 The car turned up about 10:15 a.m. so they had a good run 🙂 After hugs all round, DH’s niece (S) & husband (C) used the facilities then headed off into the city. DH’s DSis (W) & DBiL (T) came in, tour of the garden as T is a successful gardener 🙂 whilst I made teas & coffees. Then the 5 of us spent 1.5 hours sitting out in the garden in the sunshine & ‘gassing’ for England 😉 Then I went in & started laying out the buffet lunch - everything put out on the dr table (as wind had started being the prelude to rain - which it did ☹️) everyone came in & made their selection then we cleared the table & all sat down at the table. Only 4 chairs (for 5 people 😉) so W who needs arms on her chair used a plastic garden chair with a cushion 😉🙂 - apparently very comfortable 😮💨 I was exceedingly happy that W & T were pleasantly surprised & impressed with lunch as they had been expecting sandwiches 😂 As if 🤣 - first guests in 3 years being my DSisiL & DBiL I was not serving sandwiches 🙄 W had a couple of G&Ts, T & I had cans of John Smiths & DH & DSis had soft drinks. Slice of shop bought coffee & walnut cake for afters. Took our time - probably a couple of hours - eating, drinking, chatting, laughing with W’s phone pinging as S & C sent through selfies & texts 😁 I also dd the wudupa & packed all the los away in the fridge. (the hard boiled eggs were a disaster - in trying to avoid the grey ring around the yoke I had undercooked by about a minute 🤢13.15 Friday - I will be back in a while to finish.14.05 back again to resume Thursday’s tale of joy😉
S & C got back about 4.00 p.m. & joined us at the table, teas/coffees, bit of cake for S & lots more chat & laughter. S & C had walked miles - started at The Tower of London & took in Horse Guards & everywhere in between. Had a nice lunch in a Wetherspoon’s & only got rained on a couple of times 😉 They had a marvellous time & are already planning their next trip 😀 Shout out to our ndn who let us use his drive 👏🙂 They left at about 5 p.m. with C doing the driving honours.A wonderful happy day 🙂🙂😁 The 3 of us then tidied up, I vacuumed, we put the table back in its usual place & breathe. Sat down with tea/coffee & caught up on the Olympics. Dinner was starting to use up los. Plenty for days to come 😉
1483 - 1491 Kitchen recycling, lots of drinks cans 😉, newspaper, 3 plastic bottles, small glass bottle, cardboard box, paper packaging - recycled
1492 - 1494 Kitchen detritus, plastic packaging, pair of cheap summer shoes that have worn through the sole (why were they taking up space 😱) - binned
Friday has been bright & sunny from 9:30 to now (14.30), I stayed in dressing gown until about 1.00 p.m. then got dressed & finally put away clothes from the washing marathon 😔 Another Gold medal for GB. Wrote menu plan, a shopping list for DH who has gone off to sm & have made space in freezer for the extra loaf of bread (too nice to feed to the birds if it went mouldy😉) DSis has just gone out so I am alone - bliss 😉😉 - for at least 40 minutes until DH gets back 🙂 I have also written a To Do list & will start on that when I have a spot of lunch & finished posting 🤞
Boo 😒 to BG GrannyKate. I see you making a mega complaint in the not too distant future 😉 Hope you have a lovely time with the DGCs & that they have a nap whilst you are doing your quiz 🤞Great idea from Floss 👏
So sorry to hear about your dad TC77 ☹️ What a worry ☹️ Hopefully the audiologist will be able to persuade the overworked NHS staff to take a bit of time to reassure your dad & make him more comfortable & less stressed. My thoughts are with you & your dad. Useful info about BG 👏 Good luck with the planned tidy up 🤞Off again, I have taken so long that I have no charge 😱 See you later 👋MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 🥇 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 1494/20212021 Savings Pot: £300.90 to end of AugustBe Kind.
