1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHTi2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉Monday was a dreary day, overhead thunder but only a light drizzle. DH filled the bird feeders - again, fed the worms, completely cleaned the garage blender & did a bit more garage tidying. Plus he tried to repair our ndn’s garden blow vac. Managed to get all the hardened mud out, changed the fuse then changed the entire plug but still wouldn’t work. He has now ordered some sort of switch at a cost of £2.55 as DH is determined to get it to work 😉🤞DH also cooked cheesy pasta for dinner 😋 AND did the washing up, drying up & putting away👏👏
Also had a call from the doctor + a text & can book his own appointment with the consultant. DSis got a call from her son & had a video tour of his new rented apartment.
My day was more knitting, folding & putting away all dried washing, sorting some paperwork. Then out to post letters & birthday cards then onto MrA. My intended tiny shop ended up being 2 full bags 😱.1325 - 1328 Kitchen recycling, 2 newspapers, drinks cans - recycled1329 - 1330 Kitchen detritus, garage detritus - binnedGrannyKate, you do realise that when the boiler problems are all sorted out you will miss your ‘conversations’ with BG 😉😉😉 Great work with the photos 👏 & as you say the internet can be a powerful tool 🙂 So pleased that you enjoyed your lunch with DS2 & home grown vegetables as well 🙂Welcome aboard the Decluttering Charabanc/s Finstickle 👋 I am very happy you have found us 🙂 It sounds like you have your hands full 😱 but although we cannot help you with the physical decluttering we can offer encouragement, tips & virtual support. You are not alone 🙂 It does take time to get others in your household on board with decluttering but when your OH & his 2 teenagers start to see the benefits of decluttering e.g. finding items immediately; seeing clear surfaces & most importantly seeing a happy Finstickle 😉 they might join in 🤞 - if that doesn’t work just wander around sighing & looking sad 😢 - only joking 🙃 sort of 😉 Btw you have got off to a great start on the decluttering 👏
So again welcome aboard 🙂Excellent work greent 👏 I liked no. 700 🙂You have been busy newlywed 👏 & I am especially impressed by sorting & tidying your kitchen cupboards 🙂👏Floss & Liverpool_Anne great advice for GrannyKate 👏Well done on tackling admin frogs TC77 👏 I have at least 2 which I really must tackle ASAP but am always finding excuses not to 😔MrsSD 🏅 🏅 🏅 🏅🏅 🏅 🏅 🥇 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 1330/20212021 Savings Pot: £164.80 to end of JuneBe Kind. I await developments from BG. I think the one who came last week was the person supposed to sort out problems made by earlier plumbers. Not a good start today as woke up late. 9 year old granddaughter was up and had made her packed lunch but didn't think to wake me and her brother up. Got sorted and was just leaving for school when the children rushed in glee to tell me kitchen floor was covered in maggots!!! A bit of an exaggeration but there were some round bin and elsewhere. I had them in outside bin last week but hadn't seen any indoors. Maggot massacre before school and bin and mat put outside. I think my problem is I have a large indoor kitchen bin and produce very little non-recyclable rubbish now I'm on my own. I am going to get a smaller bin that I empty much more often especially as we have more hot weather coming. Can't see any more at the moment but having a cup of tea then next job is to sweep and steam clean kitchen floor. I still have those admin frogs to deal with but floor will have to take priority.
1257-1260. cabbage, cauliflower, courgette and swedes dealt with. Blanched and frozen or in the case of swede mashed with potatoes and frozen in portions.
1261 Bag of plastic recycling to Mr M
I have more courgettes ready to pick. They have done really well this year.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Welcome, Finstickle, and I'm sure you will soon find your way amongst all our different ways of keeping the clutter in check. I'm a bit-by-bit person myself and although I set a target of 365 I don't let it stress me. It is just a way of keeping a tally.
Well, Mrs. SD, I've not gone completely cold turkey on the Charity shops, but I got the Marie Kondo book a fortnight ago, and it has gone back. I read it and basically I just translated some of it into more down to earth terms, like this from TC77- "I dont need more clothes that I'm not sure about". And of course, Bit-By-Bit. I did roll up my socks and found that left me more space so my mask packets and latex gloves now have a new home and it is easier to see the socks. I didnt agree with what was said about giving away books that you know you will never read. During lockdown I was so glad of those books with the CS closed and I read quite a few. I did look around for a few that could go and I'm trying to read more so that the total number of books goes down eventually.
I have decluttered the map drawer and much more room now - tha's the first time in seven years that it has been decluttered and then the next afternoon I did the small light bulb and etc drawer, again a first for it and now room for the operating instructions for all the appliances- some of which had been in the map drawer.
Totals now
2 piles old admin paper to shredding
7 maps to charity shop- all duplicates of what we had!
1 chipped dish to bin
2 tins lentils eaten up by me - not all at once - DH had gone off lentils and they took up space in the cupboard.
4 books to CS

Bon courage to you all and keep safe everyone.10 -

Welcome @Finstickle. Its a great place to be here, even when things aren't leaving the house.
@TC77. I am going to be sorting my admin frogs out tonight. You reminded me that they are being frogs as I would rather do housework than do them. 😂
Worked at the CS today. Not too busy and still nly managed to buy a book and a scarf. This is good for me.
I also dropped two bags off at a different CS. I am trying to share the load around the many shops in my area.

1254 taken weeks but DD1 has sent emails to get support from uni and placement re mental health, still more for her to do but big steps for her
1255-1257 admin frogs, a couple draft emails but as important leaving over night
1258 finished painting picture frame ( which hopefully is much improved).
Doesn't seem alot for the hours taken
1259 remembered another email with photos attached, sent immediately issue arose which is good.
Noticing the skirtings and house in need of spring cleaning , or may be autumnal /xmas preparation at the rate I'm going !8 -
Hi All, today I have taken pictures down from the wall in school and sorted what can be sent home with the pupils.
Face cream sample uu
Decluttered some money on some perfume from boots for a birthday present and was given 3 samples of other perfumes which was both good and bad. Good because I have nearly finished my current bottle of perfume but bad because it is stuff coming in. I have vowed to use my perfume every day, no more keeping it for bestso at least it should be used fairly quickly.
Take care everyone9 -

3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉Tuesday was a mixed day again - overcast, sunny, dark & threatening rain but not actually raining but warm. DH did a bit more garage clearance & also started digging out an old tree root. We have a cherry blossom tree in a pot which will eventually go in the hole 🤞
Made bacon sandwiches for DH & DSis, I had guacamole with tortilla cups. Lots of knitting & 10 minutes of weeding front path. I made HB Somerset chicken with boiled potatoes for dinner. One portion left which has been frozen. Kept back chicken & sauce for a pie for Thursday night. Wudupa.
1331 - 1333 Kitchen recycling, glass bottle, drinks cans - recycled
1334 Kitchen detritus - binnedGrannyKate everything crossed that BG finally get their act together 🤞 As the DGC were so happy about the maggots perhaps you could save them & send them fishing 😂😉 Horrible nasty things 😬 but at least you have a valid excuse for not dealing with your admin frogs 🙂 I have no such excuse 😔 You have been busy stocking the freezer 👏
Great work Finstickle 👏 Little & often is a really good approach - keeps you motivated & sets a good example to other members of the household 👏🙂My hat is off to you retiredinfrance - you read the MK book & have taken what you need from it 👏 I watched a couple of her videos on folding clothes & did that for a while but now I roll everything as it takes up less space 😉 especially towels & bedding 🙂 Excellent work on the 2 drawers 👏Great work short_bird 👏 I remember half crowns 🙂 - coins used to feel so much more ‘important’ now they are all small & flimsy except the £2 coin 😉Good work bit_by_bit 👏 Glad to see you are sharing the love 🙂 Very well done on restricting yourself to a book & a scarf 😉Excellent work TC77 👏 I do love the idea of bypassing spring cleaning & going straight toautumnal/Christmas preparation 😉😉Liverpool_Anne, useful items coming in does NOT count against you 🙂 Three samples of perfume could mean you find one you like & can add it to your birthday/Christmas list 😉😉MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 🥇 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 1334/20212021 Savings Pot: £164.80 to end of JuneBe Kind. 342. Cat bowl dropped and smashed this morning-binned. Thought I had just managed to save it but it wasn't meant to be
343. Deodorant of DDs, cleared out of her room-recycling
344. Empty broken CD case-recycling
345. Fished out more of DDs old schoolwork to put into the recycling
346. I actually managed to handout a birthday present on time. This includes using the last of the wrapping paper. Due to the cat attacking part of the roll that bit had to go into the recycling.
