I’m going to aim for that! I have 15 days before my daughter comes to visit and I’d like to have made substantial inroads by then. That’s 135 items. If I go for a walk today, I will take my glass recycling down to the bottle bank.10

MrsSD I hope your DH is ok, another one here who can worry for Wales so I understand, many hugs to you 🧡In the recycling box 4 plastic sm fruit cartons, wish I could reuse them but they're very flimsy and the bottoms are full of holes. Perhaps someone on here has any ideas ? Recycled lots of leaflets and letters/envelopes, kept the important letters for shredding. 6 orange skins in the food caddy, the oranges were stringy inside and inedible so they have been juiced. I was playing freezer tetris just to get a carton of ice cream in there so I took out a leftover stir fry and some belly pork which we'll have for tea, still no room in there again now though 😕Hugs to the poorly or worried. Remember every small thing out of the house is a win 🏆nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11

Just back from a week in a caravan with very little to do because everything indoors is still closed. Still, a break is a break, I suppose, as it’s a week without pondering my shed of a house.
Today’s question - after living in my house for 20 years, is it safe to get rid of the keys I haven’t yet worked out a use for?Today is going to be key sorting day; matching up doors, suitcases and keys and hopefully getting rid of the surplus of both.Slightly marred by buying some colour coded key tops then discovering I already have a bag of the blasted things. Who accumulates key tops?!
Mothernerd, had to smile at your description of freezer food Tetris. I know that feeling well. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.10 -
@elsien I recently ditched loads of keys (gathered over a lifetime of my relatives) and I often joke that I have inherited old keys but am yet to find the map or treasure chest 😂.
I hear vintage keys are quite the thing on ebay so perhaps I should have sold mine 😂 - I have no idea what all the keys could be for to be honest. I do have 2 for each door already so I'm sure the others can safely go.
Today's outs for me:
1 large holdall type bag sold plus packaging.
Disposed of the fat /oil from the chipper.
No other plans to declutter anymore today - now off work until Wednesday 🤗🤸🤸🤸🤸

@3secondmemory perhaps your son could help to get rid of his unwanted possessions rather than expecting you to do it? Why should you wear yourself out to get rid of his stuff (I know it has been stored in your home, but it's his stuff that you stored for him).
(Sorry, that sounds really bossy & grumpy, but my boys both sorted out their own stuff that had been left with me, so I expect everyone's kids to be the same!)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Seemed fair enough to us, we just needed the jolt to get our backsides in gear. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉Friday was a dreary, damp day & cold. Builder J on his own again - he stayed until 7 p.m. & has just 1.5 courses of neighbour J’s wall to build 👏 Then one more section of wall to rebuild. He is not coming Monday as he has an one day job to do for an elderly customer so we will see him Tuesday when everything should be finished - weather permitting 🤞🤞 DH took the motorbike to his new garage - fault identified & will be dealt with when he takes the bike in for its MOT in a couple of weeks. Luckily not as expensive a repair as he thought it would be 👏
DSis & DH arranged postal delivery of her medications - as one of her meds has been difficult to get hold of from her local pharmacy. It has only taken 3 days 😱 The website crashed a couple of times so had to be sorted out over the phone. Fingers crossed 🤞 that her meds will turn up in a timely fashion 🤞
I was completely lazy 😔😉 Finished the last of the hm soup for lunch. Dinner was gammon, egg & oven chips for DH & DSis. I finished the fish pie (added some slices of tomato) when reheating. As you can see I am determined to empty a freezer for defrosting - shame I cannot harness the same determination for the rest of the decluttering 😉😉
Saturday is a very wet miserable day - light showers interrupted by very heavy rainfall ☹️DH has made his weekly call to his DSis after watching the MotoGP qualifying.
983 - 988 Kitchen recycling, newspaper, plastic bottle, drinks cans, completed Sudoku book, notepad cover - recycled
989 - 990 Kitchen detritus, plastic packaging - binned
Good work GrannyKate 👏 Probably worth a letter/email of complaint to BG - may get a token apology payment 🤞 I am also seriously considering getting my ovens professionally cleaned - I just need to phone & book - possibly next week 🙂
A fellow comper GrannyKate 🙂 although like you I have had a long break & haven’t got back to it yet 😔 What a great win - A week in Rome sounds idyllic especially for the price of a stamp 👏🙂 Btw not limping along, it is called steady progress 😉🙂Great work vulpix 👏 Wishing you every success with the up-cycling & sales 🤞 Hopefully lots of £££s. Free furniture vulpix 😉 that is an excellent way to look at it 🙂👏 and btw Pembrokeshire tables are beautiful ☺️ Although you should remind yourself & be proud that this is as a result of all your hard work 👏👏
Good for you wort 🙂 If anything the last 14 months have taught us, it is that there is no point in keeping things for best 😉 We should use & enjoy 😊
Great work Wednesday2000 👏 Steady progress & you are seeing the fruits of your labours 🙂 I am currently too frightened to have a very close look at all my clutter - there is a huge amount of ‘stuff’ that my DSis brought from France which I would like to get shot of but depressingly my DSis is not on board ☹️😖 However, now that you are taking the bull by the horns, I am encouraged to try again 😉
Well done greent 👏 You deserve to use your nice toiletries - You are Worth it 🙂Great work villagelife 👏 Fingers crossed your garden is soon awash with flowers 🌺🤞May is turning out to be a very depressing month, mothernerd ☹️ The weather is miserable & still so cold 🥶 We keep having to put the heating on for an hour or so - lots of jumpers just don’t cut the mustard 😉 You have been extremely busy again - putting me to shame 😔 I would like to thank you for reminding me to write proper lists again 👏 I have lots of scraps of paper (like Frost 😉) & no clear picture of what I want to get done - just the vague notion of decluttering 🤔 Anyway, you should feel very proud of yourself - you have taken charge & got on with it 👏 earning yourself a medal 🏅 along the way to go with your feelings of happiness & calmness 🙂 You have also inspired me to gather together all my scraps & write a proper list. Please, please take care of your back. Great ideas for mushroom boxes, mothernerd 👏👏
I did smile at the description of a religious bra, boultdj 😁
EnergyShifter, it seems such a shame that the amount of work required to replace bathroom fittings only counts as 2 😔 Very pleased that your back is better 🙂👏 Being able to have a shared grumble is always uplifting 😉Thanks for the kind thoughts re my DH moneyonmymindsam 👏 The very pleasing thing is that DH has had no more warnings from his smart watch 🥳 so hopefully the blood test & ECG will both be clear. Good decluttering work 👏 & it is decluttering 😉 Items you won’t wear replaced with items you will wear 👏 Shame about the emergency tax, but at least you know you will get it back once the tax office get their act together 🙂 Who knew that vintage keys were valuable 😉 Fingers crossed 🤞 that the treasure map will put in an appearance 😉
Thanks bit_by_bit 👏 I believe that my DH has the same thought process as you - better to discover any potential problems early so that they can be dealt with 🙂Congratulations on more weight loss newlywed 👏 I had to smile at the vision of droopy skirts 🙂🙂 Btw, Great work on the clothes sorting, tidying & decluttering 👏“Listened to a decluttering video and they said to ask “what is stopping me wearing this item now?” And “if I have lots of go to items that I wear a lot, will I ever realistically get to my option B items?” 😮 I do like that - now I just have to be brave & get on with it 😉
Very succinctly put TC77 👏 Sounds like you had a great time with your friends 🙂
Well done on the gardening mothernerd 👏 Excellent numbers - over half way to your target in only 4.5 months 👏🙂
What a result 3secondmemory 🥳 Permission to dispose of 🤞hundreds of items 🤞and serendipity strikes as you will have your daughter to help you 🥳 I was beaten to the calculation by GrannyKate 😉 The next 2 weeks should see you well on your way to meeting this target 🙂
Thanks for the hugs nannywindow 👏 Currently it is a low level worry - niggling in the background 😔 but trying very hard to wait until there is some actual news. Good work on the decluttering 👏 and I like the idea of a prize cup🏆 which I think I should award when anyone hits their target for the year 🤔
elsien, keys are always such a worry but you are checking everything so no worries 😉 Ooh, key tops 😯 Good luck 🤞 Had to laugh 😆 take or tip 😉
Good point Floss 👏 not grumpy at all. I fear that 3secondmemory thinks that her son will be tardy 😉😉

On the subject of assorted leads and cables (of which I have many, despite one decluttering round) I’ve decided I’m going to label them as they arrive in the house from here on in.
Then when the gadget goes, the lead can go as well. That’s the theory, anyway.....
And Sod’s law being what it is, the only keys I don’t seem to have are those for two of the cases I still possess. Sigh. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
