I have also cut open the padlock to an old air raid shelter in my garden which is meant to be shared but which the previous tenants colonised. It is so full of junk you can’t get in the door.
I’ve given a ride on toy car to the new tenants but the rest is going to take some clearing and will probably need a scrap metal man. There’s also various bits I can probably get some money for, a new bike (karma it is!), car tyres etc.
The Jerry cans have been donated to the nice neighbour who cut the padlock off for me. The rest will have to wait till I’m feeling a bit more energetic. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.11 -
Not much decluttering but lots of cleaning and lots of walking.
some too big knickers to the bin
A summer top that was too small last summer, to the charity bag
a pile of recycling to the communal bins
walked a route today that I had been wondering where people were going... it’s actually a shortcut and lovely across fields, behind a school whereas I was previously walking the car route... what a donut I am, this was was much nicer though not as flat.
so this month I have walked four new walks that I have never done before... and I have lived in the same postcode are all my life!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10 -
Been a bit distracted since the swimming pool opened !! It’s my stress relief and I missed it so much.Cleaning has not really happened much apart from the essentials. Decluttering just happened in the last 10 minutes - I have booked a charity collection for tomorrow so filled a bag of clothes that didn’t sell first time on fleabay and a bag of books I bought for a course and then didn’t finish it.
I also sold a few bits since I was last on, a handbag I couldn’t decide whether to keep I advertised for twice the price I thought I would get and it sold straight away.... now I am on the lookout for a nice new one! And strangely found some maternity clothes hiding in the loft and they sold too so that’s fab.
been enjoying the weather and being outside, but the house really needs a spring clean at some point....11 -
I hit the local market and charity shops yesterday, but in line with new my one in one out rule, I will be identifying what’s going to be heading out of the door next week. That’s the plan anyway.
(Apart from the desk set which I didn’t technically need but kind of landed up in my bag anyway.)
Otherwise:
Computer monitor is going tomorrow - I’ve been donated a better second hand one but am quite pleased I’m not hanging onto it “just in case.”
Folding bike also going tomorrow.A bag of bedding for the local dogs home. Some cottons and various other bits donated to a local craft project.Frying pan, broken umbrella, 2 face shields, in the bin.And the car cleaned inside and out, and it now has slightly less resemblance to a shed than previously. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Well done on the selling, that's great news.
Glad you have a bit of relief with the swims.
Hope you find a nice bag.

11 items either in CS bag or binned
Lots of others put away in the right place and some things put with their category which will help with decluttering another day. Even managed some dusting in the bedroom and in so doing decided there's still too much on the dressing table. I think most of it can be put away rather than displayed.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅11 -
Good morning ,everyone has been so busy, very inspiring.
I am itching to start flinging stuff but You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs. I feel I can't start to have a sort out just yet because I can't do it without making a mess.
I listed 2 large planters on FB and they sold immediately. Too cheap but that way I guarantee that things go.
The "other" viewers came yesterday. They said they will put an offer in. I don't think they will get it. The woman wants to expose all the floorboards and knock the wall down between the massive kitchen and living room. Hmm, they are not local ,they have no idea what the weather can be like here. It would be freezing without some walls and carpet.
Of everything that has to be sorted for a house move, the garden is my biggest logistical challenge. I have no clue how many pots I have but it is a lot. Some are massive and very heavy too. Most of the furniture I will give away or sell and my dresser and table and chairs will have to have their own shed. I have loved them for over 20 years ,I am not ready to part with them just yet. The cottage we will move to is 18th C weavers cottage, its footprint would fit in my kitchen at this house!
I had a moment of insanity yesterday and wanted to buy a Methodist chapel to convert into a house. Unusually it is on a lovely country lane, not too big, just the right amount of land etc, I realised after a couple of hours I wanted it for the garden making potential not the living in a caravan for 2 years whilst the building work was done. The cottage has land which I will make into a garden. That will keep me occupied for a while, until the next "project".
Today I have my second Covid jab.

Morning all! Sounds so exciting vulpix - keeping fingers crossed for you that it all goes smoothly from here.
Finally got round to sorting the t-shirts at the weekend, mainly because the drawer wouldn't close otherwise 🤣 19 t-shirts off to the charity bag (some of them I've had for over 20 years 🤯 but have lots of life left in them because I probably haven't worn them for 15 years!) It made me realise that I rarely get rid of clothes because I look after them and they last me so long that usually they get turned to rags when I can't repair them any more. It's something that I learnt from my parents - when things looked a little worn they became your house clothes that you weren't afraid to get muddy / do the decorating in / use in your lifeguard classes and you basically wore them till they were then turned into rags for cleaning and eventually you had to throw them away. My problem is I keep hold of all these clothes and then add more to the collection! Really want to get that under control this year and I think the decluttering is the start of that.
I keep seeing videos on youtube of people talking about organising stuff and what they're actually doing is buying more drawers / cupboards etc. to house the increasing amount of stuff they keep buying and it made me feel a little weird. One girl I watch regularly did a re-organisation video a few months ago and then was doing another one last week because she had bought more stuff and now needed MORE organisation "tools" to hold the new things that she bought, like 4 new makeup bags that she loved but had no use for at the moment and I couldn't understand why you would do that. Not to say I haven't done similar things in my youth but now I'm seeing the problem that consumerism has played in my life - and I haven't even watched the Minimalist documentary yet!
Apologies for getting a bit deep there, I think the past year has (like many people) made me realise what is truly important in my life and the fact that I don't want to clutter up my house with rubbish.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201716
