1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Sunday was mixed - some sunshine but mainly overcast & very chilly. Of all the things we sowed we currently only have a few radish seedlings 🥳 not surprising as everything is outside & the weather has been cold. However the bulb planting has been more successful this time around - dwarf daffodils, narcissi, hyacinths are all in bloom 🙂 DH managed to make an electrical repair on his motorbike without causing any damage 👏👏
I vegged out all day: TV - including the final of The Voice UK (DSis & I agreed with the result), AB2 & a 4 day menu plan 😉 We watched the 1st episode of the new Line of Duty - fortunately I have recorded it so I can watch it again.
Hm soup for lunch, the other half of our Chinese takeaway for dinner. Wudupa.
630 - 640 Kitchen recycling, 6 plastic takeaway boxes & lids, plastic bottle, drinks cans, newspaper, cardboard packaging - recycled
641 Kitchen detritus - binnedNo problem balabooberlies 🙂 & thank you 😊You are very welcome TC77 🙂 Thanks for the info on blinds as I think I might be treating myself shortly 😉 So sorry that your DD2 is having such a stressful time ☹️ I think I agree with you that tptb are being disingenuous calling it assessments rather than exams 😖Well done for keeping the dining room table free of clutter 👏 Great work on the painting & decluttering 👏
Good work GrannyKate 👏

Morning Mrs SD and fellow declutterers,
Listened to short Andrew Mellon podcast reminding me that the purpose of decluttering is to make space for doing other things! Want to arrange for person to fit my blind and do a few other things but abit (very) embarrassed about the state of my house! Meant to be only working 1 day this week so going to try and work hard organising things. Hope everyone's monday starts well.9 -
Mrs. SD Thank you for my star

Hello Folks.
Thank you for my medal Mrs SD. Can anyone explain to me in idiot language how to add medals to my signature ?
I can only agree with everyone's advice about decluttering a whole house. It doesn't matter where you start, just starting somewhere is the first step. For me, I would start with getting rid of actual rubbish and recycling into my bins then just keep at it. Little and often. I am also a fan of putting like with like. Decluttering gets addictive ,the more you do the more you like the space and calm and it gets easier to declutter more.
I have had a productive weekend. I gave DD1 lots of stuff for her and her BF.
124. 4 houseplants
127. 3 planters
128. new tee shirt
110. 2 balls twine
111. fabric to make patches on clothes.
112. new pad of lined A4 paper

I managed to do some decluttering, finally.
I threw away a couple of "self help" (lol) books that I had written in so couldn't donate. I threw away a bag that came with my electric toothbrush. I've no idea why I kept that for so long.
I saw some cardboard boxes in the garden storage outside so I will rip them up and put in the recycling bin when I get home later.
I have been using up tops I would normally donate as pet blankets so I have gone through a few of them over the past weeks. The cats tend to shred and wreck them very quickly!
I am taking a book I started with me on the tube today to try and get through that.
Toiletries used up - deodorant. It's my last non-natural one as I wanted to switch over. I just used up the last of the face scrub on my hands and feet. I am dyeing my husband's hair today as well so that will use up a box of dye.
I am mentally collecting a bag for the charity shop in my head too for when the shops open.
I'm not doing so well on the cleaning front! I did vacuum upstairs yesterday at least.

Current total is 737/ 2021 including 4 for yesterday. Spent Friday working on my bedroom (couldn't find one of my morning pills and should have at least a week's worth left). Found them late evening and completed Friday's dose. Saturday did more including making the bed (took all afternoon). Have small collections to add to all the sorted stuff eg put away half a small drawer of ribbons but found 3 during the week and 2 more Fri/Sat. If I can do more purposeful pottering today I may be able to finish the room but it has reached a stage I'm happy with. Have been getting a bit down because I can see all the things that need doing, and the stuff that comes after that (like sorting all the add-on bits into their proper places) and then stuff after that (getting back to going through the paperwork and dealing with some non-urgent admin matters - should be easier to deal with than keep leaving them on the list/ transferring them to new lists).
Yesterday more digging was done then went back later to put clods into the bag and fill several buckets with loose soil (whilst checking out the fence structure - don't want it to fall down or damage next door's drive). Washing was done and line dried, assorted veg were put in a pasta bake which fed us yesterday and will do a meal today, census was done, rubbish and recycling went to correct bins (including tree roots I unearthed).
Feeling happier because the digging seemed never ending but now I can see the end is in sight (digging out is only the first stage) and hope I can do what I want without any complications. Happier with the room also (feels like a haven as long as I stay in bed - if I get up I can see the part of the room that still needs tackling) as that seemed to be going on forever with little progress. I went from a point last week where I was nearly ready to make the bed from scratch and then descended into absolute chaos which made me despair (stuff was falling onto the floor faster than I could pick it up).
The digging has taken a lot out of me, each day of digging (only an hour or so) has needed at least one full day of resting to recover/ not do serious injury. Just so frustrated with my physical limitations (and mum thinks I'm doing nothing if I'm in my room and hasn't noticed when I've been in the yard). Have sorted 2 small crises out this morning (mum's pills) and will have to go to town or put an order in because she's nearly out of something else (wouldn't have needed an order last week but for something she had run out of). Quite a lot of me aches this morning so not planning anything strenuous but purposeful pottering should work. Going to apply the next round of medicinal/ preventative creams and think about how best to tackle the next stages. Next door neighbour has two young men working in the yard so have to be careful to stay out of sight. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8 -
Been up and down the past month, but think that I'm finally coming out of the funk. Will be back to working more regular hours this week so that will help too.28 - 32: drinking glasses finally made their way to the dishwasher33, 34: mugs also moved to dishwasher35 - 37: cardboard boxes broken down for recycling38 - 49: beer bottles rinsed and into recycling50 - 54: plastic into recycling55 - 58: four sessions of shredding/junk mail pile into recyclingIn my 'to shred' pile (actually it's a box full) there's a few receipts from online shopping where some of the page is on a sticky label. I'm worried that this will gum up my shredder. Anyway to get round this? Or does anyone bother and just chuck the whole receipt out?11

Had a day off today & the sun came out which helped with my energy levels. I also started a new morning routine of getting up a little earlier than usual so I have time for meditation, journalling and stretching. I can't tell you for how long I've been intending to do this - I will be really pleased with myself if I keep it up.

I drove to coast today 25 miles away as my dentist is there and I needed some urgent treatment - 'trip out' of sorts within the rules. I saw the sea but didn't get a walk on beach. Decluttered money but not as much as I thought it would be. (I used to work in the area and NHS dentists are few and far between which is why I continue to go there, and I like the dentist, in normal times I could combine it with trip to beach)
