2nd money update in one day! Received £17.16 refund from car insurance so made a sneaky OP as per “free money” rulesMFW 2021 #76 £5,145

And another sneaky OP- £47.66 from council tax refund 😃
I spent the weekend decorating- the office is now a nice creamy beige rather than mucky lilac (paint left in the garage so freebie) and big lads bedroom has gone from sparkly turquoise to a bright white base coat waiting his decision about what to next. T did some plumbing and electrics jobs which is good but he’s been to the big box diy 5 days in a row 😵 How do people not 5 mins from a diy shop do diy?House saving money is now at zero but we have been told that we have just under £2k coming back to us from our sale, I’m going to chase the solicitor because I don’t understand why it’s taking so long.In non money news, junior park run restarted yesterday which was brill. We didn’t have the boys but I volunteer and it brought a tear to my eyes, even the sun made an appearance 🌤 it’s also a completely free activity as I no longer have to drive there or pay for parking!Have a good week wannabes xMFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Free money is always nice!
Must be a relief to see your stamp being put on the house.
Glad the park run going well.If it's not adding up, compound it!2 -
Congratulations on your new home and I'm sure it was worth the wait! Looking forward to reading about your OP progress once things calm down, moving house is always more expensive than planned for in my experience but it's important to make a new house a home!2

Porridge, it’s great! We had a clear of boxes in the conservatory and I sat in there at lunch today, exactly like a cat in the sun. It’s chucking it down again now! Hope everything’s okay with you, I’ve been a bit rubbish at reading diaries.Drum roll, I’ve made another overpayment in May! We had the money back from the sale, just shy of £2k. I put the majority in the house fund pot and tidied up the rest into the mortgage. £1k was the vendors contribution to the boiler. I think without that reduction or if the sale had gone through earlier in the year or the stamp duty was due (£400) we may have ended up owing money by the time the solicitors took everything. In the end fees etc including the estate agents were closer to £5k, I’d budgeted £3k! Ah well, we’ve landed on our feetMFW 2021 #76 £5,145

it’s my day off so we’ve done some admin jobs and had a really frustrating day money wise! We’ve finally managed to switch energy provider but the final bill for the old property is £300! We don’t know if the meter readings are correct as T took photos of the wrong thing and it looks like our dd wasn’t covering what we were using. 😤
We’ve also had our financial advisor out to try to sort out life insurance, I’ve been declined and T’s premium has gone up by £110pm 😱. We’ve been advised to give it a year as their risk thresholds have changed due to covid and by then a health scare I had a few years ago will drop off as well. In the meantime, we’ve pushed our current policy up to its limit but it would leave us a £30k-£40k shortfall on the mortgage if the worst were to happen. Not ideal but I’ll take the risk for a year. Premium for that is £50 more than we currently pay. I’ve not checked the whole market as I find it such a stress going through the preexisting conditions stuff - it took 2 hours today. Irony is I am healthier than T!
in better news, I’ve not spent anything and I’ve planted out my cornflowers 🙂 The plan for the weekend is to decorate E’s room and bake a wedding cake.MFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Hi wannabes!
Big lads room is looking fab, we need to gloss this weekend. T found an ottoman storage bed on FB for him which we need to see if it all reassembles.Today’s missions have been collecting my wedding dress (perfect!) and trawling the shops for a wedding ring for T (not going so well, going to try city centre in a bit).Money wise- we went out last night, my treat- £60 (but making up for 7 months since we last ate out) and I had some photos printed for £3.89.
The house pot is on £1200 and £1250 coming back in it next week. Not sure what we will be able to put in any savings pots this month! We’re both trying to cover smaller wedding bits out of our own spends so we can leave the savings pot to cover the bigger expenses- although the venue are unsure if they will do large wedding even if the government say we can- frustrating! Back up plan is to have a reception at home but we’ve not quite got that far in planning.Enjoy the rest of your weekends wherever they take you xMFW 2021 #76 £5,145
