Happy New Year Wannabes!!
We normally go away with friends for New Year but we’re not going until tomorrow. Instead, T and I had a mini adventure car camping up in the shire. We had sausage sarnies watching the sun come up and then it rained so we came home 😂 I’m hoping that 2023 has a lot of adventures in it.A round up of my goals for last year.We aimed to overpay the mortgage by £7200 and reduce it to sub £100k. This pivoted in the middle of the year as we decided to start on replacing the windows and doors in the house with modern double glazing. We’ve managed to save £4800 to pay for this upfront when they are fitted in February and have still made progress towards the mortgage. 🍌
saving goals were all met 🍏 one of my jobs for later is to book holidays so the holiday pot is going to take a hammering!
house progress- we did not prioritise the time to do this last year. We did sort out some of the garden and build some terrific log storage solutions though. It’s the first year in our relationship that I haven’t decorated anything! 🍋 I’d like to see more progress here, but not at the expense of living life.Eco swaps- being one car and plastic recycling are the big wins this year. I cycled over 1000miles which would have been diesal powered. We’ve also grown our own veg, composted and found a ver box that works well for us. I want to reduce the families meat consumption and aim for a less full recycling bin. 🍊
work life balance
At y th he start of 2022 I was burnt out and struggling with my mental health. I’ve come really far in the last year. I’ve started a new role studying alongside work which has required good boundaries and I’m still feeling really privileged to do. Outside of work I took on a huge challenge which really pushed me. I’m proud of what I achieved but I want to bite something a bit smaller next year 😝🍏🍏 for next year, I’d like to be more active and more sociable and nurture my adventurous side.MFW 2021 #76 £5,145

We’ve been away for the first week of the year, staying with friends in Wales which was really nice and rather frugal! Back home this weekend, trying to keep on top of the house jobs before back to work tomorrow.Progress on some fronts:
🏃♀️ Parkrun yesterday - 45:56 so nowhere near my target but the weather was foul so getting out of bed was an achievement
🚽 en suite progress today, we’ve been putting pipe work in for the sink and radiator
⛰🙋♀️ T and I have taken on roles with a friends scout group trip later in the year. It’s quite a big adventure and a financial commitment as all 4 of us are going. It was good to share some of my experiences from last years trip in the planning of this one
I’m hoping to make today meat free as we’ve been carnivores all week. Not sure what’s for tea as the fridge is bare…
enjoy your Sundays wannabes, I’m going back to pulling pipes!MFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Another run and bother meat free day 🏃♀️ 🥦 yesterday. It chucked it down so I ended up soaked to the skin.Money news is the car passed it’s not, needs replacement back tyres as an advisory but we haven’t done them in the 2 years we’ve had the car so that’s fair enough.I sat and booked holidays the other night- a train based adventure with T in a few weeks and a bike based adventure in May for my mums 60th. Spent £440 so far with another £300 due to come out so not to extravagant but I sometimes find it hard to spend on holidays even though I love travel.MFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Spends since new year:
£25 Chinese eat as much as you like which is currently keeping me awake. Tasty but not necessarily good value
£20 running club subs (til April 2024)
£17 a book that no one got me for xmas
£30.25 3 month prescriptions
£4.50 deposit for camping
So around £140 since payday. I think I budgeted £150 and I’m going out for sisters baby shower tomorrow which I’m funding with other sis but not got spends budget left for!! I’m not too concerned but need to keep a closer eye I thinkMFW 2021 #76 £5,145
