ouch gas is so expensive right now- I got rid of my car 4 years ago - i live in London and luckily with all the transport here I dont miss it. However for everyone who needs their car to get to work, shop, kids etc it must be really hitting everyones budget.
What with food, utility and fuel prices I am glad we all watching our spends.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Definitely! We’ve dropped down to one car and I do most smaller trips by ebike- a very good investment! T needs the car for work but he also does a lot of the running around for us as a household so I feel I should fill it up every now and then. I might not use the car very often but I certainly benefit from it. We were in a good habit of cycling the boys places but they’ve all been poorly so it’s dropped off somewhat.MFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Another OP! I owed T £100 and We’d agree I put it towards Common wealth games tickets. Ballot came through yesterday and we didn’t get anything!! So mortgage it is 😀 Tickets get a resale platform in Jan so still might get to go, but that’s another days moneyMFW 2021 #76 £5,145

A couple of achievements today- ordered a recurring veg box from a local farm, made a list for the refill lady tomorrow and sorted out my PT subscription. I had been paying £10pm during the lockdowns as I wanted to support him, he’s rejigged his subscriptions so I’ve dropped down to £5pm which covers the online content I actually want. Off tomorrow, phew 😅MFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Packaging reduction update-
been to the refill lady today, im really pleased and will make it a monthly habit- trying to stock up as she’s only in town once a fortnight. Spent £45 but half of that was toothbrush heads (comparable to branded ones) and shampoo bars (expensive!) prices were comparable if slightly more expensive than supermarket for shower gel, handsoap, washing up liquid and some cupboard staples. Also got toothbrush tablets as Youngest wants to try them.I think one of our swaps could be baking more as we do eat cereal bars, breakfast biscuits etc which are individually wrapped. The weekends weather looks grim so will have a rummage in the cupboard and get boys on the case.Have a good weekend wannabes xMFW 2021 #76 £5,145

Wow what a year its been for you!
Congratulations on your marriage and house purchase. You are doing so well on overpayments truly well done 👏
We got married February 20 a few weeks before the first lock down, and purchased our house in November 20, it needed every thing doing like yours. Its great but it does feel never ending at times! That said, coming up to a year here we've done OK 😊

Thanks Bellevie!! We’ve been married three months now and in the house six so we are getting pretty settled now. We’ve had a pretty much no spend weekend! Cleared out cupboards and had a baking morning yesterday, then the sun came out so tackled the garden. Today we’ve had Ts sister round, been for a walk and played board games. I’ve taken boys trick or treating for the first time as so many houses have decorated near ours, we never went where we lived before. Oldest was one of the bigger kids out so might be a first and last for him. Now trying to get the fire going 😃MFW 2021 #76 £5,145
