Looks like you have a high current shower pull cord switch used as a light switch!
Is that a bad thing?! Sorry, only moved in 3 weeks ago!

Only if you have light sleepers, they make an awful clunk when operated!  Does one set of terminals say load or is 45/50A marked anywhere?

Ah! Yes, makes a very loud clunk! Luckily there is a mirror with led lights in it, which turns on/off by waving your hand underneath it. Much better to use and night or early morning!
I took a variety of pictures whilst I had the cover off. I *think* I can make out the word 'Load'  where the live is connected in.

In that case it is a high current (shower) isolator switch!
If you want to install a smart switch, you will need to locate the junction box above the ceiling for that light.

Many thanks for that. When i'm off next I will have a look and see  if I can locate the junction box. Guessing all 6 lights will go into a junction box then connected to the pull cord. Failing that, it's back to the original plan of installing GU10 fittings!

  • Afternoon all!
Well i've been up in the loft today having a look the best I can. From what I can see, 5 of the led driver boxes have one flex cable going into them with the live and neutral (like the pic in my first post).
However one of the led driver boxes has two flex cables going into it. (Sods law it was the most awkard one to get to as its above the bath!)

Now not sure what the second flex cable will be as haven't turned the electrics off to open it up yet - However would this be what i'm looking for to add in the shelly1?

If it were me, I would strip everything out back to the junction box where the lighting twin and earth terminates. Then I would have a 'known good' starting point and install from there.

Sounds like the perfect plan, but not possible. Only 3/6 lights are accessible from the loft. The part where the other 3 are is all boarded over.

Can't you open the driver box? Most likely two cables are just connected together inside. You can do the same with any new light fitting.

I think @powerful_Rogue wants to install a smart switch module so will need to find the junction box for all the lights?
