The springs can be quite stiff but they will fold back with enough force. Any damage will likely be covered by the fitting's flange

Thanks. I think I tried a fair amount of force and then chickened out! Might try and see if I can get a screwdriver up there and help the spring!

No reply back from CREE. I've tried moving the middle white bit, however it does not move. No give at all.
CREE are manufacturers of LED chips for lamp and light fitting manufacturers to integrate into their products.  They won't be much help!

Rather than try to pull the plastic lamp inside the fitting, try rotating it anti-clockwise.

When you try to remove the fitting, you may find quite a bit of resistance with the spring loaded wings.  It may cause some damage to the ceiling when you try and remove it.  Watch your fingers.

Thanks for your reply. The lamp inside the fitting, i've tried turning clockwise/anti clockwise and pulling - it just does not give.
I shall try extracting the entire fitting again, with a bit more force and also wilth the help of a screwdriver to assist the spring!

It may well be a fitting with integrated (irreplaceable) LED.

I would tend to agree. The hole that the fitting goes through looks like it might be around 60mm. If so, that would pretty much clinch it being an integrated lamp.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • Afternoon all,
Sorry about the late reply. Finally got one out of the ceiling today. Took a tiny bit of plaster with it, however luckily it's pretty hidden when the light is in place!
Looks like they are non replaceable leds. I was thinking now I know how to get them out, I will replace th fittings with GU10's. However then I thought i'd look at getting a sonoff mini which I could place in the pull cord housing and have the lights controlled via the pull cord and Home Assistant. Still need to look into this a bit more!
However failing that, would these fittings be easy enough to swap over to GU10 housings?

What is the diameter of the housing and how tall is it?  For a GU10 compatible fitting, you'd remove the existing driver and wire mains directly to the lamp holder.

Not sure on the diameter, would have to measure up and check when looking for GU10 fittings, but plenty of space above. I went up in the loft after and saw the fittings - Going to be easier unclipping them and pushing them down from there!
So going into the LED driver box is the live and neutral  - That's what would just go into the new GU10 fittings?

If you have access from above, that makes it much easier.

With the power off, remove the live and neutral from the existing LED driver and wire them directly to the new fitting noting whether an earth connection is also required in the new fitting.
