‘Use in any shop with a card reader’. Brill - except! Tried to use it in Molton & Brown in the Boulevard, Banbridge. Sorry Sir, we can’t accept that. Fell at the first hurdle.
Any other non acceptors?0 -
On the BBC local news site seems a number of people have been unable to use the card in local shops. Card goes into the machine pin works then cancelled transaction.

As expected, the deadline to use the card has been extended by a fortnight - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-59139979 - so much for them wanting to finish the scheme in November, and then have people spend more money in December.
My card (ordered the day after the scheme started) arrived 2 weeks ago; my wife's card (ordered several days after mine) still hasn't arrived.
If only they had more time to organise the scheme they could have done it properly ... oh that's right, they only had a year

Now its just going to be money spent that was going to be spent anyway at a time of high spending, not helping businesses through the lean months as we were coming out of lockdown and before christmas.

It will still help local businesses as it can’t be spent online .motorguy said:

Has anyone had any experience of being able to use 2 of these cards in the same transaction?
Not sure if this is possible but was looking to use two cards from the same household for a transaction amount over £200.0 -
Answering my own question if anyone is interested...
I was able to use two of the prepaid cards in a single transaction and pay the remainder myself yesterday.2 -
Ikea knew how to handle that - split the bill into three transactions, two of 100, plus the remainder1

The point being, people are buying stuff they'd otherwise have bought anyway, so little or no extra revenue at an already busy time.Old_Git said:
