So this has popped up again.   They are not giving out immediately and want the rush to the shops to calm down.    You will get £75 or £100, but still no more info on where they can be used?    Shops only not online of course but otherwise nothing.
I fear it will be something that will be kicked down the road then quietly forgotten about.....

Apparently nothing will be given out until it can be determined if those on benefits who receive the payment will not be penalised  from the additional money and leading to some sort of reduction in those benefits...
No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere

But people on benefits are allowed up to £6000 savings.
So £100 is no different to getting a £100 for Xmas or your birthday from a family member.  Never heard anyone declaring that.
Those on serve disability got the extra £200 before Xmas last year.

It was PIP, not severe disability premium - and PIP isn't means tested.

Then it must be the high rate PIP.  As I know a few people on mid-rate, and they never got it.   One who got it for their daughter they are 38 and a rare health problem.   The mother who gets all the daughter's  benefits into her own account used the extra money to decorate the house.   Oh, the daughter would be unable to manage a bank account on her own.

Yep, it was the enhanced level of PIP (or DLA, attendance allowance or pension credit). I posted the list on page 1. Still not means tested! Only pension credit is from that list.
  • The whole scheme is an absolute waste of money anyway, but guess after RHI, we should expect nothing less…

Exactly what benefit is the scheme going to provide to the local economy when the majority of the funds will be spent in Tesco and end up lining the pockets of shareholders, the majority of which won’t live in NI (or maybe even in the UK)? It should be for local businesses only, so that the money remains in circulation in the local economy.

Well, it has been said no food or alcohol shopping with the prepaid card will be allowed.  It is based on the Jersey idea when last year they gave everyone over 18 a prepaid card to use.   So it seemed to work in Jersey made no difference if they were on benefits or not.

Oh, I do not shop in Tesco anyway.
