I'd imagine many have been caught in the past with "can you take £12 off this card, £4.20 off this card, £14 off this card and £22 off this card please?" scenarios (no doubt with a queue of people behind them) but i cant see any business declining the use of a £100 card like this, just because it splits the transaction, especially if you ask / confirm in advance.snowmen said:
We did it with both our cards, no issues at all.1 -
Yep, my oven packed in so I spent it on replacing that. I’d have had to buy a new one anyway but the upshot is that I’ve now got £100 more in savings than I would have had. So it’s pointless from my perspective. I did spend it in a local retailer rather than a chain though so at least it’ll make the statistics look good.motorguy said:
The point being, people are buying stuff they'd otherwise have bought anyway, so little or no extra revenue at an already busy time.Old_Git said:
It will still help local businesses as it can’t be spent online .motorguy said:
Usual farce by our "government".redped said:As expected, the deadline to use the card has been extended by a fortnight - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-59139979 - so much for them wanting to finish the scheme in November, and then have people spend more money in December.
My card (ordered the day after the scheme started) arrived 2 weeks ago; my wife's card (ordered several days after mine) still hasn't arrived.
If only they had more time to organise the scheme they could have done it properly ... oh that's right, they only had a year
Now its just going to be money spent that was going to be spent anyway at a time of high spending, not helping businesses through the lean months as we were coming out of lockdown and before christmas.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j1
