I agree it seems very unlikely a penalty for no insurance will be issued. If the car is insured then issues with the driver would generally only be investigated in a police stop.
Pay the fine and points, or go on the speed awareness course if it's offered. Inform your insurer, answer their questions honestly, but don't volunteer what car you were driving unless asked.
Consider yourself lucky and be more careful in future.

If they get offered a SAC, there is normally no requirement to inform your insurer.
Admiral used to ask for details of courses but they no longer do so and as far as I'm aware, no other insurer in the UK requires that you disclose this to them.

    I doubt they’ll check.
If they do it’ll be 6 points and a Band C fine (less 1/3 for an early guilty plea). Plus costs and surcharge. Some police forces offer FPNs for no insurance.
Keep quiet and you’ll probably avoid any consequences.

As car_54 states if its from a fixed speed camera managed by the local Casualty Prevention Partnership insurance won't be checked, that's not their role.

Fill in the form, sit tight and wait for your letter.  You may get a speed awareness course offer which diesn't attract points.
You are aware that for those partnerships to work there is at least one police officer working alongside them so there's every chance insurances are checked?
Are you saying every single one is checked?
If not, why would the OP's be singled out from thousands of others?

I can't see any reason why they wouldn't print the insurance page when they check for the registered keeper on the PNC.
Well, at that stage they don't know who was driving. They'd certainly spot a car that's not insured at all, but the DVLA already do that.
If the RK named another driver, they'd have to ask him to prove he was insured, and that simply doesn't happen.
Anyway, why do you suppose there's a human involved in the process?

You seem to have some inside knowledge of the workings of the speed camera partnerships so who am I to argue?
As what Car_54 stated is 100% correct, what is there to argue about?
Provided that the OPs girlfriend had insurance on the car, it would be showing as being legal on the insurance database so there would be no way for them to possibly know that the driver wasn't legally covered.
    How do I know?
Well, in 2018 I went on a SAC after being caught for speeding in my neighbours car and their insurance policy didn't cover me so I was driving it using my policy which included DOC cover.
At no time was I asked to prove that I was insured on the vehicle concerned.
  • Even if there were no insurance on the car at all it is unlikely to be picked up as the speed cameras managed by SCP are not set up for that.  It's a production line set up for speeding/red signal offences only.  It only comes up for manual inspection if someone thinks it's clever to put down Uncle Roger from Manitoba.

Given that the OP is not named on the insurance policy for said vehicle I'll leave you to work it out how they'll know.

But it's unlikely they would go to the bother of checking the OPs insurance certificate to see whether they did or didn't have DOC cover.

Don't worry about it - fill in the form and then go make sure you've got appropriate insurance (it sounds like you live with her and so the drive other cars cover wouldn't apply).
I've never had that exclusion on my car policies that have had cover for other vehicles.
From memory Admiral do have an exclusion along those lines (being the Ryanair of car insurance Admiral can usually be counted on to have every exclusion under the sun). They are very much in the minority however; it is nothing like a standard exclusion.

I've just done a bank robbery. Someone got shot. These things happen. Obviously I want to escape justice. I was thinking of fleeing the country. Is that best? Help I am really worried.
Hope I am posting in the right place. This is the forum where you post your crimes and others help you avoid the consequences I hope.

Where does the OP say he wants to avoid the consequences? And where does anybody attempt to help him do so (not that they could anyway)? As far as I can see he was asking about the possibility of his crime being detected. Not quite the same thing at all. Most of the responses I've seen (yours aside) comment on that possibility.
