Uninsured speeding

Points count for totting up for three years.
Points are visible on a licence check for four years.
Insurers ask for five years.
When your job title changed, did your policy change insurers - or have you renewed it since you last checked?0 -
To be honest mate I’m not entirely sure if it’s same company or not I’m guessing it’s the same as when I rang they said because your title has changed that’s why Its not included0

I'm surprised she's still letting you near her car at all, in the circumstances.Pezperry12 said:
It’s already been sent away with my details as I say my other policies allowed me to drive other vehicles as i had a crash in her car last year and was covered just my job title has changed and for some reason it’s taken that part of the policy off how long do the offences last for thanksAdrianC said:A lot of people assume that comp policies always includes driving-other-car cover. And a lot of people are wrong... You NEED to check before borrowing somebody else's car. If you think it's something you're going to need, you check when you take the policy out.
Do you live together? If so, then it may well be that DoC cover would not have covered you anyway, as members of the same household. Adding your partner to your policy as a named driver is usually very low extra cost, if not free, assuming they have a reasonable driving record.
As far as this speeding ticket goes, you've got two choices - assuming that she's received the s172 request to identify the driver...
1. She lies and takes the ticket. You both cross your fingers that they don't twig the attempt to pervert the course of justice.
If they do, it's a very serious offence - people have gone to prison for it.
2. You put your hand up to it. You cross your fingers they don't check the insurance.
If they do, it's a serious offence - six points, and an offence code that insurers REALLY don't like. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
What was the limit, and what speed were you logged at? If within the parameters, you'll be offered an SAC rather than the points (unless in Scotland or Dorset).Pezperry12 said:

A lot of people assume that comp policies always includes driving-other-car cover. And a lot of people are wrong... You NEED to check before borrowing somebody else's car.
Exactly this. From the company's point of view, you could have a Fiat 500 and your partner could have a Ferrari... (Generic "you", not specific). Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0 -
You are aware that for those partnerships to work there is at least one police officer working alongside them so there's every chance insurances are checked?daveyjp said:As car_54 states if its from a fixed speed camera managed by the local Casualty Prevention Partnership insurance won't be checked, that's not their role.
Fill in the form, sit tight and wait for your letter. You may get a speed awareness course offer which diesn't attract points.0 -
The car isn't really relevant crash into a brand new Bentley in a Fiat 500 or a Ferrari with third party cover and the damage costs would be the same.RobM99 said:A lot of people assume that comp policies always includes driving-other-car cover.
