It's vanishingly unlikely that they will check insurance. That's something that would happen if you named a driver from abroad.0

Considering that a Fiat 500 could weigh as little as 500kg compared to a Ferrari which would be at least two and a half times this weight, science says that the Ferrari would have far more kenetic energy when moving and as this energy gets transferred to whatever it hits, the chances are that a far heavier vehicle would cause far more damage to whatever it hit.williamgriffin said:The car isn't really relevant crash into a brand new Bentley in a Fiat 500 or a Ferrari with third party cover and the damage costs would be the same.0 -
Don't worry about it - fill in the form and then go make sure you've got appropriate insurance (it sounds like you live with her and so the drive other cars cover wouldn't apply).

You are aware that for those partnerships to work there is at least one police officer working alongside them so there's every chance insurances are checked?daveyjp said:As car_54 states if its from a fixed speed camera managed by the local Casualty Prevention Partnership insurance won't be checked, that's not their role.
Fill in the form, sit tight and wait for your letter. You may get a speed awareness course offer which diesn't attract points. Are you saying every single one is checked? If not, why would the OP's be singled out from thousands of others?

I've never had that exclusion on my car policies that have had cover for other vehicles.Herzlos said:Don't worry about it - fill in the form and then go make sure you've got appropriate insurance (it sounds like you live with her and so the drive other cars cover wouldn't apply).

I can't see any reason why they wouldn't print the insurance page when they check for the registered keeper on the PNC.Car_54 said:williamgriffin said:

They'd certainly spot a car that's not insured at all, but the DVLA already do that.If the RK named another driver, they'd have to ask him to prove he was insured, and that simply doesn't happen.Anyway, why do you suppose there's a human involved in the process?

You seem to have some inside knowledge of the workings of the speed camera partnerships so who am I to argue?Car_54 said:williamgriffin said:

I'd be astonished if the OP's lack of insurance gets noticed. Its an easy £100 for the "Treasury's consolidated fund, which is a bit of jargon that really means the Government's own bank account". On the other hand had he been pulled over by regular police they may have got around to checking his insurance status.
