EBay managed payment

You'll probably get the money in your bank account tomorrow. If eBay says the buyer has paid it is safe to send it. eBay will then send you an email to state the money is on the way to your bank account once it has cleared through their system.Coveredinbees!!!! said:I haven't sold for a while on Ebay, since before manage payments. I sold 3 items over the weekend and according to ebay the money has been received but it's not in my bank. I set up an account just for all things ebay and was sorting out posting but should I wait until the money has cleared in to my bank. I have a small 'float' in the account that will cover the postage costs but never previously sent anything until the money was in my account.

I echo this. The default payout is set to payments being sent to your bank on a Tuesday , although you can reset it to have daily payouts. Once ebay has your money and it shows as paid then you have received the money, it’s just the same as it used to be when it hit PayPal. Regardless of payout day you ‘must’ send within your stated despatch time as if you don’t you will get a late defect.jon81uk said:

It's funny how shocking this is to me when it's all in one place.
When I've sold things before Paypal have taken their cut, then ebay fees later down the line at the end of the month. I sold something last week for the first time since all the changes, and it was £100 on the nose. My total profit on that was £82 and a few pence. Now in the past I'd most likely not have noticed, but now the fees come from one place and I can actually see in real terms how much this is costing me to use, I probably wont be back. My fault entirely for blindly cracking on and never working it out, but I suspect a few casual sellers will also come to realise this is more expensive than they initially thought.

Where would you sell if you don't use eBay?pulliptears said:It's funny how shocking this is to me when it's all in one place.

I guess it depends how much and why you use eBay.

Bear in mind that I only sell my own unwanted items - shoes, clothes, bric-a-brac.
It's not a business to me.
I list for 7 weeks, then end the auction and donate the item to my local hospice charity shop.
I used to do that before I started selling on eBay.
I've sold less than 40 items since mid June.
The average item price is less than £10.00 but it clears out my wardrobes and gives me a little cash.1 -

Personally I am always worried about hidden costs, 'extra'charges etc so do research any site I use .Maybe showing the costs in one place is a good thing, I accept that some people don't really care about costs and just want rid of their stuff regardless- but it strikes me as a much more honest way of doing things if a seller can see the actual costs.

As a private occasional seller I wait for FVF offers that suit my price point before listing. If unsold I wait for the next offer.
It can save quite a bit.2 -
I get that and I do similar with sites like DePop and Vinted, read all the small print. But eBay, I guess I just got a little blasé over it. You're right, it is a more open way of doing things, but to people like me who've not really thought about the ins and outs of it then it's going to be a bit of a shock

I sell on Marketplace, Gumtree and Vinted with great success and with no huge fees. Unfortunately I was a bit hasty to list the item and as it was a bit specialist I went to eBay. Now I realise I could have sold it with no fees in one of the several groups dedicated to this type of thing. Live and learn.Pollycat said:

I've currently got about a grands worth of Funko Pops here to sell. Until last week the plan was to eBay them, but I've since joined a Funko group on Facebook and will sell through that and incur only Paypal fees.

The money did appear the next day after posting, I still don't like it but what can you do. What is annoying is to pay for the postage thru ebay you have to still use paypal!!
Nothing to see here, move along.0 -
How long do the "micropayments" take to turn up in your bank account?I'm a very infrequent seller, and recently went to list something for the first time in a while and discovered all this Managed Payments rubbish. Now been waiting 2 days for my "micropayments" so I can authenticate my bank account and receive payments.I don't mind the new system in principle, but it's so slooooooow! Like others, I used to always wait until the money was in my bank account before sending out the item - not an option any more because the payments take so long to hit my account (if the published timescales are to be believed, and if the "micropayment" delay is anything to go by).0

Can't comment on the micropayments authorisation, I didn't get asked to do it.Fingerbobs said:I don't mind the new system in principle, but it's so slooooooow! I've been using managed payments for six months and there was a slight delay to start with, with funds taking a few days to clear, but now it is clearing same day and paying to my account next day.
This week I sold one item Thursday 28th Oct and that was available for payout Monday 1st.
Sold another on Monday 1st Nov and funds available Monday 1st then paid on next day.
I am on weekly payouts so get funds on Tuesdays (the default is daily) so received both lots of money yesterday 2nd.
Most of the time it is coming next working day which is standard for most banking payments.
