Yep fell foul of this system just signed up read the loads of complaints about it. Paypal was instant regardless of whether it was good or not. This is a joke. Took advantage of the £1 fees this weekend all mine just about sold with "to complete processing 06/04/2021" and I am dreading how long it will take after this. Under Paypal would have had the money in my bank and that includes a BANK TRANSFER from Paypal to my Santander account !!

This business day transfer is as old hat as a cheque we all know its so each party can get the interest on the money whilst its going slow mo across the electronic airways. Been reading some people waiting 2 weeks and EBay does nothing just blames the sellers Bank.

Ebay has took 5 steps back into the digital dark age of 20-30 years ago.

So I will go and sell elsewhere in future I think and I hope many others follow maybe Ebay will realise its rubbish payment system is fit for the recycle bin.

IT-IS-JUST-TOO-MUCH-HASSLE-NOW and not slick as before

Well avoid Amazon and etsy as well as many of the newer selling sites as they all third party your money as well. I'm finding facebook marketplace is quite busy and you can use paypal on there.

One of my payments has changed to available funds and classed as completed. If you read the blurb now it says 0-4 Business Days to hit my account. Checked my account and its not there yet. I usually dont have an issue with faster payments its often there straight away. Thing is they may say its daily but I bet its not instant. I wouldnt be surprised if daily is scheduled at 10pm at night or even early hours of the morning and weekly done same time. This actually adds time on if you miss their scheduled time but they dont tell you when as in timewise the payment is sent. So potentially with mine it could be Friday latest thats 7 days since auction ended.

Problem with this is you dont know when it will hit your bank account. With Paypal you did know.

Just looked at my payments section again and another one has gone to completed. So I check the Payouts screen and it shows 0.

That to me suggests it doesnt go out instantly and that Ebay only send it to the bank account at a certain time each day.

It also says you get emailed a Payout ID so you only know that Ebay has sent it to yout account when you get this Payout ID. So even though it goes from processing to completed it still doesnt actually send the money. So be interesting to see what time I get these Payout ID emails!

I have thought about FB Marketplace but its not policed very well and there are a lot of dodgy ads on there and people putting in stupid offers. No BIN for instance and no payment protection etc.

I thought that would be ideal for you as you have control and don’t have a third party controlling how you manage your sales. In the UK we can still just list , we don’t have to go onto the marketplace managed trial (and very few people have). So just list your stuff, when someone wants it either send a PayPal invoice or arrange for item to be collected. Obviously this is a lot more time consuming than ebay but it solves your issue if you need the money instantly and cannot afford to wait. You get a PayPal payment just as you used to on eBay and send.

eBay aren’t using Faster Payments, it’s a refund via direct debit.

But I sold an item on a Sunday and got the money from eBay Tuesday/Wednesday so no real complaints from me. I only withdrew from PayPal every few weeks anyway.

When I've been paid on a Monday the funds have arrived in my bank midday Wednesday. Twice.

Am still waiting for the invite... my partner who never sold anything on eBay got the invite and me with over 400 sales last year still haven't got it.. so go figure. Worse thing is I'm missing out on the £1 Max Selling Fees.

Has anyone else had the threatening "final reminder" email that states "If you do not update your details, you won't be able to create and edit listings. You may also lose your eligibility for future selling fee promotions."?

If true that would be a bit harsh. Excluded from selling promotions because I didn't add bank account details by a certain date. I like the way they are resorting to threats to get people to switch.

That’s a standard email, since sellers don’t have a choice whether to switch or not it seems a bit un necessary. If you don’t switch you can’t list, end of.

  • I've just read through this entire post and I'm actually amazed and shocked that everybody has completely ignored this comment
    ......
Furthermore the terms of the system when you put your bank details in seems to suggest they have outsourced this to another US based organisation “ Trustly”. The terms are full of nonsense and if taken at face value imply you having over all your banking login details and granting them power of attorney to do stuff on your behalf. .....

Clearly all those linking their bank accounts have not bothered to even scan through the terms and conditions they have agreed to. To protect yourselves you really do need a completely isolated bank account, and I suggest you all go back and review the T&C's you've all agreed to. DO NOT link eBay Managed Payments to your main bank account!
I'm also quite disappointed that soolin who is a "Board Guide" is just advising people to "just do it", with no regard or comment on the T&C's.
