  • I have never got onto management payments because when I tried to register for it (having had one of their emails inviting registration)  it insisted on the ID first.

I suspect there are a number of previous sellers who have given up selling due to managed payments. They get hidden in the numbers though as ebay tend to sign up more people on a week by week than they lose, and I doubt ebay will ever say how many people have given up their selling rights.

Apologies if this has been discussed already. Does one need a business bank account of any kind to register with managed payments?

My main worry is that a high street bank may treat a payment coming from ebay as a business activity, and my bank account might be closed (by bank) for this reason.

They might and they might not- I'll worry about that when or if it happens. I'm very low key though on my private accounts so I can't imagine they will trigger any warnings- it might be different if a private seller routinely takes hundreds every week. As far as I have seen, no private seller has posted in any forum saying that the banks have started to ask questions- but then I suppose the banks were used to fairly regular paypal payments anyway, so the payments coming from Ayden instead shouldn't make any difference.

Sold an item yesterday, which is a bank holiday Monday. Buyer paid at 10.13pm. Money in my bank account around 11am this morning, so around 12hours later.

Managed Payments are no longer the massive wait they were being made out to be.

Something similar happened with me,payments are definetely getting quicker.

  • I haven't sold for a while on Ebay, since before manage payments. I sold 3 items over the weekend and according to ebay the money has been received but it's not in my bank. I set up an account just for all things ebay and was sorting out posting but should I wait until the money has cleared in to my bank. I have a small 'float' in the account that will cover the postage costs but never previously sent anything until the money was in my account.
Nothing to see here, move along.
