I suppose those of us who like petrol cars can take solace in the fact that Boris has never successfully managed to pull off, well, anything. He comes up with the odd slogan, but does anyone remember the Garden Bridge, Boris Island, Heathrow expansion, Crossrail even - which exists but is comically overbudget and behind schedule. The wheels are in the process of falling off HS2 and what does he come up with? Electric cars and ray guns in space. I'll believe it when I see it.
Plus, to all those worried, classic car owners are running 50 or 100 year old machinery without appreciable difficulty. I think petrol cars are safe as long as the know how, petrol and will to keep them going lasts.1 -

The law of averages says he’ll get something right eventually though!P.S. to be fair he has successfully pulled off a few things in recent times,...mainly knickers, bras and panties;
...allegedly!

Take a look at the crap cars filling up every car park in the country. Almost no-one cares about a fun driving experience, it's just a white box to get from A to B as cheaply as possible. EV's will be hugely successful in that regard due to cost and convenience.
There's also no reason an EV couldn't be a fun driving experience, once you get over the lack of engine noise. Have a look at some EV drag races on youtube to see how fast they can go in a straight line. Unless you've driven one you're almost certainly underestimating it.

In January 2009, the government announced it supported Heathrow's third runway. After the 2010 election, the plans were dropped. In September 2012, the government announced the Airports Commission to investigate the various options around expanding London's airport capacity, which delivered a final report in September 2015 endorsing the third runway. Boris strongly supported the Thames Estuary airport between 2008 and 2014 - the proposed budget in 2014 was three times the current Heathrow expansion cost projections.
Crossrail was given the final formal go-ahead in July 2008, with delivery the responsibility of TfL.
Boris was mayor of London from May 2008 to May 2016.
So, yes, I think we can.0 -

The law of averages says he’ll get something right eventually though!An overwhelming success by all accounts;...certainly made Boris’ covert nocturnal ramblings that much easier.

So, yes, I think we can.OK, maybe Crossrail.As for stopping Heathrow expansion, it's a rare example of him getting it right.
