MrsShazbat said:Thanks Sue - yes the exhaust pin-holes will last a while yet. Because it's the front part of the exhaust I thought it was the engine that was a bit noisy. But again, not using the car as much as I was helps. I've only done 1596 miles since last year's MOT!
DH and I are off work this coming week (only 3 days out of our annual leave as the University is closed on the Tuesday at each of the 3 main bank holidays) but unfortunately he isn't well at the moment. To start with, we thought it might be Covid and booked tests (lateral flow tests were negative), then as the day wore on I was more worried it might be sepsis. 6 years ago today he was in ICU with sepsis after having his bladder removed (that part went fine till the sepsis took hold). I rang 111, and it's a sign of how rubbish he felt that he let me do it without argument, and off we went to our local hospital for a midnight appointment (!). Fortunately it was confirmed that it was neither sepsis nor Covid so we didn't need to do the PCR tests, and he's on antibiotics although the skin just looks angrier but I'm hoping that it's just a case of it looking worse before it gets better. We had debated going away next week then decided we didn't want to fork out ridiculous money to stay somewhere, so were just going to do day trips and so on, but it looks like we won't be doing much at all now.
Fortunately what we did get done was a falconry day 2 weeks ago, which was his birthday present last year. The weather wasn't brilliant but it was a great day and we were in a large barn. We got to handle owls, a falcon, a harris hawk, a barn owl and a BALD EAGLE! Honestly it was worth it for that. It weighted 8lbs and you had to hold your arm fully outstretched. Just, wow! Highly recommended as something to do.

Good afternoon SPCers! I hope, despite the weather you all enjoyed the Bank Holiday, but what some rubbish weather after the Met's "Ten Day Trend" forecast 10 days of beautiful, sunny, warm weather!!!! 😡 I think we're already in autumn and chasing winter!! 😡To all those who might not be feeling so well or are a little low, please take care, and I really hope you're soon back with us. For now, look after yourselves ❤️Crikey MrsShazbat, that was quick! Tis a wonder they didn't want to have it done before passing the MOT.Don't forget to pop whatever you need to take out on your signature so you don't forget to include it in on D Day! Let's hope it won't be too expensive for you.Thank goodness your DD didn't have a re-run of sepsis! So nasty! You were certainly quick to act, and such a blessing it was neither that or Covid. I dearly hope he soon recovers and will be able to enjoy his time off, though I think you're wise not to shell out a LOT of money going anywhere. What prices they're charging us all, they aren't the only ones who lost out due to Covid, though I'm sure Joe Public will end up paying for that ruddy virus...in so many ways too!!I'm so pleased you both really enjoyed your Falconry day, it sounded brilliant.Good luck with the exhaust!Excellent potting Lost!! 😯 ☺️ As always, the year is just flying by, so see you soon.Have a lovely evening and a good Wednesday, folks, and keep SAFE!Sue xxNB Folks: Opening date for this year is 28th October 2021

Hello Potters, a big warm hug to anyone who needs it at the moment
We finally managed to take a holiday and jolly lovely it was too. We booked a week sun seeker cruise earlier in the year with funds from the cruise that was cancelled last year. I was a bit nervous about going I must admit as our interaction with the outside world has been miniscule over the last 18 months. However, everyone had to have 2 jabs and also had to be tested before being allowed on board. There was sanitiser everywhere and everyone adhered to the wearing of masks and social distancing so I did feel very safe on board. It was a most unusual cruise as we didn't know where we were going until the Captain announced that we would be heading for the Bay of Biscay because there we would find sun. Now, anyone who cruises knows that the Bay of Biscay is notoriously horrible to sail, but, thankfully it was calm and sunny so we just sailed up and down for the week. It was so nice to be disconnected for a few days, nowhere to go, nothing to do, a really relaxing holiday.
I have another £10.10 to pot today. Enjoy the rest of your week PottersSPC 16 - #09 Totals: 2014 - £264.51 2015 - £207.50 2016 - £396.79 2017 - £369.49 2018 - £484.24 2019 - £309.90 2020 -£282.06 2021- £1839.89 2022 -£1627.832 -
Siju, Thank you for the warm hug, I really feel I need one right now. My brother and his wife have both tested positive for Covid, despite being double jabbed and extra careful with masks, hand sanitiser and social distancing. It appears that sister in law picked it up and kindly shared it with my brother! The only place she could have contracted the virus is in the supermarket as they haven't been anywhere else recently. He is 67 and she will soon be 78 so more than a bit vulnerable.....
In addition, our move to the bungalow is looking less and less likely. We have a deadline for exchange of 7th September and our solicitor only returned from holiday today and there is still stuff outstanding. To say that I'm fed up is a massive understatement.
jakes-mum sending healing wishes to your hubby. Hope you are all ok.
Sue, hope you and T are coping and that you both feel better. Sending healing wishes to you both too.
Stay safe everyone. Not long to go until opening day! Where is the year going??Sealed Pot Challenge #012

Good evening Potters! I hope you've all had a good couple of days since I was last here, I have though a little chilly, but there you go. though....it's supposed to be warmer next week, we'll see!For all those not be feeling so well or are a little low, please take care, and I really hope you're soon back with us. For now, look after yourselves ❤️Wow Siju, I'm sure the last holiday on my mind would have been a cruise, in fact we'd said as much when feeding our next door neighbour's fish, it must have been the water!
They've had a few cruises and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, but they weren't going to risk it this time....so they've gone fishing instead!!
However, the Sun Seeker folk obviously did all they could to keep everyone safe on yours, and you both thoroughly enjoyed yourselves and I'm so thrilled for you. ☺️Excellent potting!! Please give my hug to little_sweetie, she's far more deserving than me for sure! What a real shame about your brother & his wife, little_sweetie, so rotten to get it at their time of life, a bit more vulnerable as you say.I hope they're not too badly hit by it but do please let us know how they get on. Very best wishes to them both. ❤️A huge hug from me for you & G too, not much time to go now before the 7th is here! Just hopefully if that one falls through, another which might even be better or the same comes along and you'll love it. I do hope so A xxMy heart goes out to you & G, so loving hugs from T & I too xx❤️xxOoh Hetty, you went to Gardeners World live??! 😯 Oh it must've been fantastic! I watched it on GW on Friday evening with Adam, Carol and whatshername and it looked amazing; however, DH & I are in the middle of making a rockery, so GWL was out the window! 😩 Still, we do love our alpines.Very well done with the potting!Well done Hicksy, I'm so pleased you've made a fresh start. From the little I know of your habits, Ant, I'd certainly say that potting your travel savings is most likely your best!! 🤩Have a relaxing evening and with a good Friday to follow, folks, and keep SAFE!Sue xxNB Folks: Opening date for this year is 28th October 2021
