f0xh0les said:Did anyone else get up at 3am to see the exit polls? I fear it may just be me...... I am such a politics tart . Aiming for NSD 2 today. I have an emergency food parcel request for DSiL who cannot get mice pies and Twiglets as she lives in foreign parts. She was horrified that you can buy iced pies. She even knew which supermarket she wanted them bought from down to which brand label (Mr M's Best' range.) She shops far too much.It is one degree outside in Le Shire, the cars all have frosty hats, so remember your gloves and scarves today Turtles, and a little bit extra time to warm up the windows if you are driving this morning and be prepared for frosty roads.I love it that so many of us have dug out the hot water bottles.Lockdown 2 : This time, it's WinterMy mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8

Bet the wotsit will get back in.Abundant - totally agree it's a real struggle to push yourself out for a walk when its cold outside. Wednesday- spend day today so still on 3/18 NSDs.
Riding and dog walking today so step count looking reasonable.
Hot water bottles are well used in this house, I often sit with one under my feet and DD often asks for one even when it's not very cold, so at this time of year they are used daily.
f0xh0les- I often get up at ridiculous times to watch election results but I didn't bother for this one and I don't regret the extra sleep at all.

Today I am grateful for a proper frost (not the namby-pamby sort we usually get down here...), for a good day at work, for a useful meeting after work, for dd having a great swim lesson, for my car, for a lovely moon out there.

Today was the first day I scraped ice off my windscreen this winter not bad for 4th November. Did extra volunteering, and will go again tomorrow, and then my weekend starts (well, apart from the school run). Missed taking a box of books to the c/s while they were open, which is annoying. Posted them on fakebook giving page, not sure people read books made of trees anymore. No takers so far. Lockdown starts tonight, but the school run continues, dh still teaches from the back room, I still volunteer, and the food shopping still needs to be done. So not much change really.Grateful we are all well, we are financially secure (as far as you can be these days). and that I am not one of the twits outside letting off fireworks on the wrong day. Poor squirrels must be terrified.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

We'll not have much change here either, f0xh0les. All still at our respective educational establishments. I know how privileged I am to have a job, to have nearly got rid of the mortgage (prob just a windowsill is owned by the bank), to be well.

The sun came out. The day brightened. I went outside and started digging/ sieving and piling up again. Helper arrived after lunch accompanied by daft dog - used the bins to fence her in a bit and shut the gate. Helper used the spade and I continued to sieve. Two rose bushes taken out and roots wrapped for now. Another shrub taken out but mum decided she wanted that one put back. Filled all the buckets. I fetched the large piece of plastic I used for painting (it came wrapped round a mattress) and helper carried on digging and piling soil and stones on the plastic (I did tell her to think about where she put it, in case she had to climb over it to go home). Remaining soil levelled out.
Went to bring mum outside to make sure we were doing it how she wanted it (she announced a change this morning but I said it was not practical or possible). I didn't want to finish and have mum say it wasn't the way she wanted it. All buckets of dirty stones put back. Tall composter filled with stones tipped over. I moved stones onto the bed using my wellies and holding onto the fence, helper used the garden fork to spread stones to the far end of the bed. Bins put in place, brought mum out to inspect it. Quick change round of bins as one was hitting the tree branches when we tried to open it.
I still have a number of buckets and a large pile of soil and stones to sift but will do them in stages. Felt like singing Wizzard Christmas song as had several deliveries. Postman actually checked that I was in before bringing my parcels. Good part of the Oxfam online order but the books have come from different shops so two towers of parcels held together with elastic bands. My orange and cinnamon scented candles arrived and my beeswax ones and finally my clothes order (t-shirt one) and box of craft stuff came. Think I've made a mistake, thought I was ordering small snowflakes (bauble size) and they are small dinner plate sized. I can use them (will be covered in either glitter card or glitter felt).
Darling d-i-l tested positive for covid (DS1's came back as 'failed') so they are all confined to the house until the 14 th. DS1 is already struggling to explain to the grandpuppy why his 'mummy' won't come downstairs and he can't go upstairs to her, now he has to do games in the garden instead of walks. They have a food order on the way. Cannot find out if Ryman's will be open (they have a post office section and I thought it would be easier than going to the general) so unsure whether it is worth the effort of going into town. Logistics of getting presents to people are hurting my head. May just buy scarf and gloves online and jumpers and other items. Don't know whether to keep back enough back for a second hand laptop, battery keeps overheating and games and videos are slow to load (some will soon be unavailable as they run on adobe).
Resting for now, will do a bit of pampering and try for an early night. I am grateful for getting a really awkward job done and for a young healthy person to help, for lots and lots of parcels to open, for bacon butties for tea (on toast bread with tomato ketchup), for communication with DS3 - bit garbled and frustrating but at least he gave me a gas reading that makes sense. To be fair he's using a mirror on a stick with a light so the reading is upside down but he thinks he must have read it backwards as well.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage4 -
Oh mothernerd! Stress ye not! Have you heard of this one? https://www.royalmail.com/collection they will collect from your door - I think it is 75p more expensive than standing in a queue for an hour, and you can send up to 5 items at a time.
