Hi all, welcome to all the new faces. I'd like to try again, please, for £200 for the month, for eight of us, (including 3 little ones), 1st to 30th November, for all groceries. Will manage this one day! Cupboards and freezers all full and nothing needed but milk until at least after the welsh lock-down is over (8th November?). Be back on 1st, mumtoomany.Frugal Living Challenge 2025.
Grocery challenge, £1300 food plus £200 cleaning materials etc, for the year.7 -
Hi, I've not been around for a while, but I really need to get a hold of the food budget now, it's where all our money goes, and I would like to start sinking funds and emergency savings.
A couple times I totalled our grocery spends in the last year it was around £800, which is mind boggling, last month we were pretty good, no pop no booze, but with two birthdays and a post-defrost stock up it was still £645. :-/
We are a family of five, toddler still in napppies for now, all food, most cleaning and toiletries etc. and I'm aiming for £400 between now and Nov 27.6 -
Hi would like to join for November pls. Been away from MSE for a couple of years now (lost my original log in details
). Food shopping has always been a big area of overspend for us and found these challenges helpful in getting it under control in the past.
Aiming for £450 for this month away to do an audit of the chest freezer in preparation ...................CC Debt

Hello, could I join as well please? I have taken part previously but I am another one who got locked out when the forum changed. Could I be put down for £200 please? That will be tight for a family of 4 nearly adults but I have done it on less before. I am concerned about how Brexit will affect food prices so I figure I might have to get used to managing my budget properly again. I have recently been about to get the £3 wonky veg boxes that have been amazing and not in the slightest bit wonky. The uncertainty of being able to pick them up and of the contents has made it more difficult to meal plan but I have enjoyed having to challenge myself in the kitchen even if some of the meals have been a little bizarre.SPC #046 2021- £293.26

@Black_Saturn I have to ask if you are the same Black Saturn that has been around for years on the old forum... there were some amazing super frugal meal plans...

Can I join this month too please. I used to post to MSE when my kids were toddlers but since my eldest left for Uni in September I ought to get back on the wagon.
Normal spend for 5 (with dietary constrictions) plus pets would be £180 per week including all toiletries as well. Really ought to get used to cooking for one less adult so I am aiming for £800 for the month starting this weekend.

First spend of November duly logged as even though I don't officially get paid until Friday I took advantage of having to go to the vets this morning to go to Morries and it will all get eaten in November anyway.
10 Omega 3 fish fingers on offer this week (should be £1.20 now 72p i.e. same price as value ones. Own label Hash Browns also on roll back and now only 75p rather than £1.20. Lots of other roll backs instore at the moment.

Hi all and thankyou for the new thread. Im going to put down £400 for November. Month runs 1st-31st and budget is for all groceries, pet food, cleaning and toiletries! Still finishing up on October and have come in over my guessed first budget. I know £400 is achievable if I stop buying so much rubbish!
