we had a takeaway last night and the kids had school dinner, plus I grabbed a few bits in home bargains. which has taken my total spend to £393.35. I am going to need to go grab some bread, milk, fruit and yogurts to get us through the week but I think I should manage ok on the £56.65 for the rest of the month (my new budget starts on Friday)
    DEC GC £463.67/£450
    EF- £110/COLOR]/£1000
  • More spends due to daughter being home and elderly cat needing different food - £550.74 spent out of £800 so far with big shop again today.  Hoping to be £100 under the budget even with the bumps life has thrown in, should act as a buffer for Christmas, anyone else doing this? Roll on Friday (pay day for the first time since July)

Oh my, that is hard - good luck. I have done some pre-Christmas prep - I clicked and collected some Christmas chocolate (the red Lindor balls look lovely mixed in a bowl of walnuts!), some alcohol ( B)) that was on offer and a vacuum bag of cooked chestnuts (to avoid the Christmas Eve panic) and I have my order in with the local butcher, with all my meat and cheese coming from there. My mincemeat is made and we might have that instead of cake this year, with apples in desserts or as a substitute for dried fruit in a saucepan pan based cake mix

Made the cardinal error of going into two shops today and came out £12.80 lighter so I now have £18.33 to last me until the end of the calendar month.
That means that my current tally is £101.67/£120 with £2.61 per day left in hand and 6 batch cooked lunches and 4 dinners in the fridge as well as all the ingredients for my next week's meal plan.
This looks as though it should be cope-able with, so my fingers are crossed that nothing goes wrong!
    Night all, goldfinches.

OH accompanied me yesterday, so I could actually get more than I would normally fit into a biddy shopping trolley, which was handy.
Spend of £70.89, only going slightly off-list, but nothing that would ruin the meal plan. Just a couple extra tins tuna and passata. We considered the cheese advent calendar, before realising this probably wouldn't a) help the weight loss b) be as nice as eating one or two cheeses we really liked at Christmas.
Plus, most importantly, it's not even December and we have our Christmas goose! And a load of spuds. Pudding and mincemeat and lebkuchen, all in the cupboards already.
One problem, Lidl didn't have the decaf teabags we normally have. I have the caffeine ones, but we need caffeine free for a gut-friendly diet, so may have to go spend a couple of quid more before the weekend. But otherwise, we are done for November!

Edit: oh heck, thought we were under. Bust again! £166.74.

    But declaring that.
    Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge budget £150, £90.14 spent in total - £59.86 remaining.

Top up shop this morning at The F*od W'house of just over £22 which leaves me with £36.36 for the final shop of the month later in the week, probably Thursday so should come in under budget for the month (fingers crossed!).

  • Not posted much this month.
    £474.98/£500
I don't get paid until Monday and have step kids for the weekend which means I'll have to shop Friday so will be over this month, but should be able to take off next month - except that's December so will be up anyway 😱😱

OH well. Really pleased with this month, currently eating the freezer so I can defrost it and start fresh.

Top up again, mostly butter, also found a Tesco receipt that I hadn't added in. Total now at £180.55/£200. Might make it this month! Knew I'd get there in the end. Let's see how I fair in December.
