Thanks @quintwins and @PipneyJane that might be an idea as I have that app on my iPad. I've decided to start my month from 20th (my pay day) instead of trying to budget from 1st - 30th with two payments. I'll start using this new method then 😊 Second time lucky hopefully!5

Hi
On 12 November I went to the local shop where I spent £6.98 for bread, milk and cheese.
Now my groceries spends are £43.58.

Zoom birthday quiz night last night, timed nicely with my shopping day, so I got me and OH some lovely booze as well as a couple of bottles of pop, with the best of intentions of drinking mainly pop. Ha ha! Went to Asda for that, and also picked up some yellow sticker kale. Thence to the Aldi, along with it seemed, the entire population. It was Crazy Busy. I stuck to my list apart from a little pack of dark chocolate lebkuchen (how did that happen!) and whizzed round as quick as poss. Just me and the shopping trolley, so couldn't buy too much anyway.
Lebkuchen now ensconced in the cupboard, awaiting the official season of Chrimbo nomming! £1.16 in Asda, £25.77 in Aldi.
Just done the week's meal plan, and next planned shop is Saturday again, but no way am I waiting until 2pm. Too flipping busy in there!
Breakfasts next week: defrosting some crumpets to have with marmite; porridge with berries, apple or pears; poached egg on toast; couple of pancake days (healthy wholemeal ones with fruit).
lunches: a few veg soups, cheese toasties*, a veg fritatta, veggie cous cous, and Quorn sausage sandwich on Saturday.
Main meals: had roast pork today, so sweet and sour pork with rice tomorrow, and pork ragu with penne on Tuesday (amazingly have some leftover wine for that). Got one basa fillet in the freezer and some prawns so I'm going to make a sort of brodetta (rich fish stew with fennel and tomatoes, I have fennel seed, this will do), served with warm pitta; lamb mince stuffed peppers and rice; fish, chips and mushy peas; cauliflower cheese pasta (I grew the cauli!); and of course the Sunday roast.
*I'm hopeful my cheese will be nice as I saw Aldi do a 50% lighter cheddar. I normally buy the 30% lighter one.Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge Budget £150. Spent so far: £109.32. Remaining: £40.686 -
Only tomorrow to go then pay day for us. Ive not spent any money on food since Thursday or was it Friday? I need to look and check. Tomorrow i will be checking the cupboards and both freezers and make my list of food needed after working out my meal plan for the next 4 weeks. Possibly get a turkey crown and a few other bits this month. I'm going go to a click and collect this month then that keeps us all safe, we have 2 vulnerable adults that live with us and my job is to keep then safe too!! Will total up tomorrow what I've spent for the month and add it on here

It's really nice to see others working out a budget and sticking to it. It doesn't help if your family isn't supportive. Does your partner support you in your challenges?

I've spent a lot on household stuff this week, including a big pack of toilet rolls and wash pods which will last into January and February. The freezer is stacked with HM soup and leftovers so hopefully in the next two weeks I will be needing only fruit and milk. I'm £79.48 over my predicted annual total.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget5

Morning all, Doing well with the budget so far this month, helped by the fact I've just picked up a couple of food collections through volunteering on the Oli0 app. Means I go to MR T's and collected the food that is expiring that day and distribute it to the local community. I get to keep a small amount as a thanks for organsing the collection. It's usually mostly bread and bags of salad leaves but sometimes the odd chilled item is given.
Need to start eating from the freezer as they are completely full, and I'm wanting to start getting some Christmas bits in.
Currently the budget stands at £280.76/£400, got 2 more Mr T deliveries this month, which I'll try to keep around £40 each and then any odd top ups.Grocery Challenge 2024

Needed to go shopping this morning as run out of fruit and eggs - neither of which I like being without! Also bought some alcohol for Christmas but that comes from a different budget. Bought some cheeses for Christmas as well which I've frozen but these were paid from the Grocery budget. Now have £92.31 left for rest of the month so should be doable as only another couple of shops to do and don't need any meat apart from sausages for weekend breakfasts from the butchers.
