"Shopping" at home again for my meal plan - sausage casserole with some wonky veg and a long slow cook for this evening. After no shops for a week and a half, the fruit bowl is looking a bit bare and butter and yogurt are starting to run low. I will almost certainly need a second SM visit this month, but I want to leave it another week if I can. We are near a town in Suffolk with a concentration of Covid in one of the care homes and lots of staff are affected. I'm not comfortable that they will all adhere to the rules strictly enough (the "I was just..." group) or that they can stay away from their families enough to stop it spreading within their own homesSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Well...this is a lot harder than I thought!
Haven’t been very good at keeping my receipts from small shops so I’m afraid I’ve definitely missed some spends. Spent £25.73 at Lidl on Monday evening (going to start going then instead of Sunday, much calmer) and £11.10 in Home Bargains for toiletries and cleaning. Total is currently standing at £86.21 / £320 but I know it’s realistically more than that.
How do others work their budget when their partner buys things? I do the majority of our shopping and that comes from the shopping budget but sometimes I’ll ask OH to grab a couple of things from the shop on his way home (many times he grabs stuff we also don’t need and I wouldn’t have bought). Do others add these in or keep them separate as it didn’t come from the original budget?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get my head around the best way to work this!7 -
We use YNAB to track our spending so if DH buys stuff which is for Groceries then it will come off the grocery budget. However if it's stuff for himself then it comes from Personal spends; but I think it's up to you how you want to deal with it.

Have updated YNAB now having spent £13.26 in Mr Ts and £5.14 + £7 from bulk fund for 10Kg box of onions. Now have £146.42 left for rest of the month so looking to be on track to come in under budget - which would be good as haven't really managed it for the last few months!

My DH also just picks stuff up randomly at the SM. Unless I've asked for it i don't include it in the budget as it's coming from his money. My DH isn't really into food frugalling, so i do it on the quiet. But he seems to get food anxiety when the fridge isn't full declaring loudly 'there's no food in the house!' even though the cupboards and freezer is bulging! So I have to get extras just for him to feel better!! 🙄Grocery challenge:

Thanks @joedenise and @Frugalistamama
Considering the free trial of YNAB to review everything. Might be a better way of sorting my budget!
I'm glad it's not just me whose partner buys so much random stuff! 🙈5
