I took it, as if we can still private message people, just not in a 'group' chat.

Otherwise we would have to tag Board Guides on posts to ask for merges or updates or like you said, unnecessarily bump posts.

For those that don't know, you can get someone's attention by typing the at (@) sign and then their username, it should give that person a notification.

@Misslayed do you know if it is all private chats that will be removed or just group chats?
Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

  • Hi all!

Thanks for your questions around our announcement regarding private group messages that's on the site today. As part of ongoing changes to the Forum, the private group chat function is being deactivated. This is to help us crack down on abusive and bullying behaviour, and to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment. As well as the feature being removed, all existing private group chats will be deleted on Monday 16th August.

To clarify, this only affects group chats ie: three or more participants. Direct one-to-one messages between two users will continue to function as normal.

    All the best,

    MSE Laura

I can often only click on the comp title if it runs to two lines.  Only one and it states Permission Problem enable JavaScript when I already have it.  Very frustrating.

K9lara, if you think this might be an MSE glitch, rather than something to do with your own set up, might it be worth posting in Site Feedback, so that the MSE team will see it?

I am sure this has been mentioned several times before. I believe that it only happens on iPads in Portrait mode and/or on mobiles. One answer given was to use Landscape mode instead of Portrait. I can't be sure of this as I don't use iPad or Mobile but it certainly does not happen on my Laptop.
Yes - thankyou.  It works x

Sadly we've been failed again with the 'by end of July' search being sorted out!!!

Unless they miraculously sort it today, which I doubt being a Saturday  :(

Cornish, you may have missed this comment from MSE Laura F on another thread in CCC, on 28th July:

    "Hello Compers,

Thanks so much for bearing with us while we work on improving the search function. We can certainly appreciate your frustrations, but rest assured the end's in sight.

Our tech teams are nearly there with the updates, and now we're waiting for a definite go-live date, which could be in just a week or two. As soon as we know, we'll let you know.

    Thank you,

    MSE Laura F"

I'm hanging on to that 'the darkest time is just before the dawn' thing. Though it's been a long flippin' night.

Sometimes its a couple weeks between visits for me and I can't remember which ones I got up too, unlike on the main page where we can determine by the entered/not entered flags.

Probably wishful thinking, but on the old forum we could see which posts we had liked to give us an idea of where we got up too, and the compliment button here doesn't quite do that.

on the take a break I find (in Chrome) that if I have done it the answer I put will come up when I try to do it again. Also if you have complimented and compliment again the total will go down one ie take off your compliment so showing you have done that. Hope that helps xx

I keep a note of the date I last entered and any comps posted after that date I have not entered.

I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus
