  • Just send them a scan of the V5C for the vehicle listed on the original PCN, that would be enough to prove your identity matching the vehicle, your name, and your address (as long as you still are RK of the vehicle in question).  Don't send more personal info than you have to. I certainly wouldn't trust a parking co with a scan of more invasive identity docs.

If they refuse with the V5C, then it will be time to complain and then get the ICO involved and/or quote relevant ICO guidelines about being proportionate with regards to amount of identifying info requested to prove identity.
  • I'd send them a copy of my driver's licence but with the photo suitably redacted. Something like this:

Surely it is their letter of claim that is due to expire? Since you won’t be paying, you don't need a payment plan!  This looks like a debt collection frighteners rather than a formal LOC.  Did you respond robustly to any previous LOC? If not, advice on how to is in the NEWBIE sticky. Do not fail to respond to a N1 claim form if/when they send one.

Thanks!. This letter has followed their LOC which is why I was puzzled. I assumed it would be the N1. They asked me for progress a week ago and I said I was still awaiting SAR [2] and was preparing my defence for potential court action.

OK.  So while your case is quiet, a favour please ... we need specific car park evidence photos this month!

We sincerely hope that you are au fait with the need to respond to the private parking draft Impact Assessment by mid-September?

The Government released a 'draft Impact Assessment' 14 days ago and it has some useful analysis about the fake added £70 'extortion' that enhances claims.

    All discussed here:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6463361/dluhc-private-parking-code-government-launches-call-for-evidence-discussion-thread/p6

That's page 6 where I summarise what evidence is needed.

Go to the final page to see what people have been posting in terms of evidence for me to use.

We need YOUR photo evidence please...but not of the car park in your claim.  Nope!

You want to help us change the law?

To be clear, we are nearly there; it's not a petition or some weak campaign, it's a final push on a law already passed, to cap the £PCN levels and ban the fake DRA fees.

The Government has a Call for Evidence open right now.

We are wanting photos of unmanaged car parks, Hospital car park signs near you that show £50 or £60 as the deterrent, and Aldi, Asda, Tesco or Sainsburys £70 signs please.

We need photo evidence of low or no deterrent car parks near you, please!

    NOT £100, NOT £90 or £80.

Just signs that are less - or places with no PPC.  You will see everyone else's examples in loads of photos later in that thread.

Please help, think of this when you are out & about in August and grab your phone. Thankyou!
