Were_Doomed said:A tangential question ... how many people were listed on the hire agreement as being able to drive the vehicle? It's unusual for another person to be able to drive a hire vehicle if they're not listed on the agreement ... even if said person has their own insurance coverage which allows them to drive other vehicles with the owner's consent - if they're not listed on the agreement then there's no consent. (The hirer has no authority to give such consent).
Just raising this for thought and deliberation ... if you were the only person authorised on the hire agreement to drive the vehicle then by default you were the driver at the time of this PCN incident - unless you can prove otherwise.3 -
I remember that one.1

Coupon-mad said:Apart from going to BVRLA and requesting a chargeback from credit card, is there nothing else to be done?Well no, because those are the two ways to get the charge removed! Not sure why you don't want to try those (credit card is easy).
And if PPS never actual send me any notice to hirer or anything at all then I can't appeal, so Europcar's offer ro reverse the car if appeal is successful is a moot point.1 -

since when has the company issuing an invoice been a relevant organisation. , and I would query debt collectors under data protection
What do you mean by "query debt collectors under data protection"?0 -

I think I would point out to Europcar that they don't appear to have transferred liability anyway, by naming you as the hirer, because the parking firm has failed to send you a Notice to Hirer, so can they please send you a copy of the letter or transfer slip they say they sent. You also wish to check they nominated the correct current address for you (maybe they have an old address or got it wrong?).
Add that they appear to be extremely muddled about the process and have no idea of the difference between private parking charges and actual penalties/fines.
Add that if they take the money you will do a chargeback and report them to the BVRLA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If you disagree with it then please explain why - I am not going to regurgitate what I've already written.1 -

Please can someone just help me clear up timings. I'm confused as there is a lot of different info out there.
I will follow the Newbie thread to the letter from plan A on down just as soon as I receive a NtH.
But it has now been 55 days since date of the alleged incident. Does that mean anything at all? It seems a long time.
Various people have said that the hire company have 28 days to send name and address of the hirer and then the PPS have 21 days to issue a Notice to Hirer.
Does that have implications for this if I ever receive a NtH?
Thanks for all the help so far.0
