I try to stick to  LC because I'm addicted to sugar. If I eat one sugary thing then I'm lost and I will binge on it. So I avoid it altogether. But I hate almonds and anything that contains them. so I miss out on LC cake. Apart from that I can do it easily as I dont eat pasta or rice or bread. But I think being too strict and rigid in any diet ruins it and you just get fed up with it.
I wonder whether they sell Jelly Babies in single servings?

I'd probably hijack a car and demand to be taken to a shop for the rest of the packet. >:)

  • Wow so wonderful to have so many people looking to manage their sugar. Perhaps that should be the focus, as so many have quiet rightly said "low carb" is relative and what works for one will not work for another. I did Atkins years ago and I generally bounce between LC and Keto and I have no time for diet police telling me I am doing it wrong. I applaud everyone who is trying to make their lives better.

Tomorrow is my meal prep day, I am working towards using up jars and random ingredients for my menu inspiration till the end of the year (and likely beyond!) to help with food waste, space and forcing me to be creative. This week I am making salmon fillets in a cream sauce with artichokes and spinach. I have a half jar of capers to use up so that was the inspo for that. I was able to grab 4 portions of frozen salmon from JS for £3.25. I should get 4 dinners from it and totting up the cost is gonna be about £2 per dinner which is not too shabby and I reckon around the 6g carb range but I will see when I plumb it all into myfitnesspal.

Also gonna make 2 portions of thai chicken curry using a random curry paste I found in the cupboard, and some of those small coconut milks. I also have a quarter bag of stir fry veg in the freezer, some chillis in the fridge that are starting to wrinkle and some fresh ginger. I won't use it all so I will grate and freeze the rest.

And lastly, I have some LC strawberry jam that I got in a subscription box and I don't quite know what to do with it - LC bread seems to make me stall weightloss. So I am going to give making some LC strawberry no bake cheesecakes a go. I have no electric mixer though so I expect my arm to fall off... still it all burns the calories  :p

If you meal prep, what is on your menu for the week?

  • Hello all
I am a low carber on and off for about 4 years now.... I started for weight loss and discovered I felt great. It is hard to continue, especially if you are a sugar addict. Sugar triggers me.
i am back on the wagon. Weekends are always a struggle.... I always feel like I deserve a treat. I am a total carbaholic.
i have loads of resources on YouTube which are inspiring. I do try to limit sweet stuff tho.
I shall watch you all with interest. Might join in also 😁

I'm terrible for sugar craving and addiction. Always thought I'd grow out of it but not looking likely now!

  • 6 dinners done for the week, used lots of old tat from the cupboards and freezer which is what I was hoping for.

Next Sunday I need inspo to get rid of some tahini paste. I also have a lot of half opened jars of mustard that I’d like to shift. I may do some variant on satay chicken maybe with the tahini? And possibly beef if I can get it at a good price. I also have some half bottles of Nando’s sauce which are rather too carby but I might grab some chicken quarters and make those for the hubs one night.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

I tend to stick to a very simple approach to low carb/Keto so don't have recipes as such apart from using cauliflower as rice or mash substitute.  Towards this time of year I batch cook a lot of Keto friendly soup for the weekend which is very frugal and the usual work lunch is always salad bits, cold bacon/ham, cubed cheese and boiled egg. On the days I'm at home its usually eggs with bacon or sausage. If I want something sweetish I like 85% dark chocolate and breakfast is always my own version of bulletproof coffee.

I've done Keto for almost 3 years now but put a little weight back on due to some sneaky carbs creeping back in over the summer months. I did try the (almost) zero carb Carnivore diet for a couple of weeks and dropped 8 pounds, but it was just too boring to stick with.
I'm now off to check out your youtube channel. :)
