Ok I don't know what's worse; questions and chat in the 'Codes only' thread, people complaining about the posts, or people complaining about the complaints (and hence defending the original posts for no reason). Actually I know, it's definitely the latter. I promise this is the last rant but I had to get this off my chest too!You guys need to chill!!
This is a friendly forum for people to get to go to the cinema for free, and I swear I get more email notifications for you lot telling people off for accidentally writing the wrong thing here than I do for anything else.
Stop being so hypocritical, does it really take that much time out of your day when you look on here and it's someone who's just said a thank you?!
And just by writing 'I will delete later' doesn't justify you doing it, the whole reason you don't like it is because you get an email to say there's been a new post, well, hello, wake up, that's exactly what happens with your millions of postings of complaint!!
People shouldn't be made to feel nervous when they're doing us all a favour and posting a freebie, incase they get told off for doing it wrong. We're not in school here.
Thank you.
If they're posting a freebie, they shouldn't have to feel nervous as they're not chatting or asking questions in a CODES ONLY thread. It isnt possible to "do it wrong". At the very least all you'd have to write is: [film, code] and it'll still be correct, so your last paragraph berating people for making others feel nervous isn't valid.
Your second paragraph, while at first sounds perfectly fine, falls through when you consider what would happen if EVERYONE decided to post just to say thanks instead of using the thanks button (hello? why else is that there? - not talking to you by the way, but the people who post as opposed to use that button). And if no one did anything about that and let people post willy nilly then where do you stop? Soon a question or two creeps in, then a comment on a film, then discussions, etc, and soon the thread would turn into the discussions thread where its over 30 pages long in about a month.
Actually, if you remember that far back, that is the whole reason why 2 threads were created, one to chat and ask questions, and the other to post CODES/OFFERS ONLY, like it says in the title, and in posts #1 and #2. People who don't read that are just being lazy and breaking forum rules. Yes, the forum is friendly, but if you're not going to read and obey the forum rules then don't get all cranky when people correct you.
While millions is a bit of an unfair exaggeration, a complaint is more than justified, although I do agree that a PM is better than a post, and I definitely find it annoying when more than one person says the same thing. By the way, no one's being nasty or anything, mostly it's a kind post telling people not to chat/thank people/ask questions. If anything, that will deter future posters from doing the same, so is rather helpful. webkami and gemble's posts (both on different issues by the way) were perfectly polite and reasonable, so it's perhaps you who should be thinking on being kind and reasonable in your response.0 -
Yeah some people obviously do it to annoy. but if you step back and think this is the only thing you have to rant or stress about then you are a very lucky person.
On the vast scale of annoyances, chat in the ticket thread should come in pretty low down.
I always feel sorry for them because I know someone is going to blast them for it. When it gets to this stage, posting on purpose and massive rants it's actually quite funny. Put that down to my strange sense of humour.
Try not to get angry folks, it really doesn't matter that much.Just looking to save a few pennies here and there0 -
Hi, everyone,
Like everyone else here, I get the emails informing me of the new posts in the TICKETS thread and I can understand the ranting... This morning I have received about 7 messages with new posts and it is pretty annoying none is for new codes!!!
I suggested the use of colours at the end of messages and of a common message to warn people off and just saw some have adopted this and it looks great!!
However, someone has just posted a "chat" message and it has really annoyed me!! After so many posts about being polite and tolerant to others and how to create a rule to avoid unnecessary visits to the thread after yet another email... someone posts a comment on the use of filmfirst!! I believe some people are deliberately annoying everyone else. I know in internet forums some times a few people try to be funny at everyone else's expense. So personally I think the forum should be moderated and one option could be for a few people to have power of erasing posts, or simply moving them to this thread.
Sorry but today it is getting on my nerves.
Apologies for the 7 emails (or at least, apologies for the one resulting from my post) - that would annoy me too.
The no-chat thread is actually already moderated and the less useful posts are erased or moved as necessary. Of course, as anyone can appreciate, you can't keep an eye on the thread every minute of the day.
MeanManc - It is rather funny how people post to annoy:rotfl: in a kinda pitiable way. And I agree with you, life is good if silly posts on the other thread are all one has to worry aboutAye, look - I got a siggie0 -
I agree with MeanManc - havent people got more important things to get so stressed about! If it annoys you so much then take of the notification emaisl and check back periodically thro the day!
The rude posts about where to post annoys me more than the thanks or questions! And the rude posts about duplicate codes! People are only trying to do everyone a favour - give them a break!0 -
How often do the mods go through and delete the chat posts? They seem to be on the thread for ages before getting deleted.0

You won't like Steve_xx's post then! But to be honest I don't see why I should take my email notification off so I don't get alerted to codes instantly anymore and therefore lose out on tickets just because chat posts get on my nerves. That would be punishing me for something idiot posters do who clearly should know better by now!Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Thank you for comments. (if it was for me)
I am posting the colour coded footer that should go on every code posted below.
I know it would not stay there. Every body is free to copy/paste it from here.
Please (politely) do not post thanks, click THANKS button.:)
Please (again politely) do not post comments or questions here.:)
There is a dedicated discussion thread for all your comments and questions

do not post thanks or comments if you agree or disagree....0 -
Personally I would mind less if the email notification included the posted message, or at least part of it- being able to quickly glance at the email to see whether it was chat would make it feel a bit less hassle. Again, don't know if that's possible...?0
