Hi guys
Well today was just as frustrating as Sunday. We had lots of people in buying loaf cakes and bread ( stuff that lasts ) but the shops in town are taking the mickey, one of the jewellers was open, also the photo shop, the key cutter and believe it or not a busker. We’re never going to see our families at Xmas, there was a small hope but people just don’t care. My boss phoned the police and they said there’s nothing they can do. We rarely see the police ( they just haven’t the manpower ) and these shops are taking advantage. Also one little old lady ( late 70s ish) came in no mask, saying how great it is that there’s now a vaccine and we can all go back to normal. When we tried to explain she still needs to be careful she just kept saying no, no everything’s fine now. We tried, I just hope she’s stays ok.
After that I needed stodge for lunch, so I had a frozen lasagne. I might just have a piece of fish and some veg for tea.
Tomorrow is my day off, we’re looking after DS2s dog tomorrow, he’s having his internet worked on and the workmen really don’t need a big dog barking at them all day. She’s a rescue and a big soft lump once she’s used to you, but it takes a while with men.
I managed not to spend anything today and don’t plan on it tomorrow either. The more no NSDs I can do the better.
Any keep safe everyone

Cuddlymarm, I agree some businesses are complying by shutting or working hard to create a safe environment for staff and customers by following the rules and some don't take it seriously at all. It's the same with people - the vast majority where I live are taking this seriously but as soon as the sun comes out we get hoardes of people descending on the open spaces and there are definitely multiple households mixing together without a care in the world.I work in the NHS and some of these selfish people should do a 12 hour shift in full PPE and see the sheer number of poorly patients before they decide it's ok to break the rules. Anyway rant over!I hope your budgets are coping ok in these difficult times - mine are doing ok because my big spends are usually on eating out so an enforced saving there. I'm planning one takeaway this month as a nice treat for us but also to support the lovely family run restaurant nearby.4

Hi guys
Today has been quiet and relaxing. We’ve had DS2s dog with us all day, she’s been very good.
Then DS2 has been for tea, it’s always nice to see him.Today is the first day of my diet because my work pants are getting tight so I need to do something. I am determined not to buy bigger clothes but the last few months have not been good, Too much sweet stuff, bad, bad, bad.
I’ve managed another NSD today, tomorrow won’t be though because my weekly shop is due. We’re getting nearer having our holiday in February cancelled. The cruise company has suspended cruises from Australia until the end of January now, it will be a miracle if it goes but we had to pay the balance or lose the deposit. It’s frustrating but we booked as a package so we’ll just have to decide what to do next when the decision is officially made. It’s a bucket list holiday we’ve been saving up for for the last 3 years for 6 of us so we’re hoping to come up with the same or very similar at a later date.
I know it’s a small problem with today’s problems but life will get to go on again eventually.
Anyway bye for now
Look after yourselves

Hi guys
Its quite chilly here today, the wind is lowering the temperature too I think. We still haven’t needed the heat on yet, my knitted throws are earning their keep.
I got up early to book my Xmas week delivery slot with T@scos. I pay for a delivery saver but after waiting in a cue for nearly tow hours all the midweek slots have gone. I’ve managed to get a slot for the Monday so that will make life easier Xmas week. Did anyone else have trouble getting on the site, apparently they apologised for people struggling to shop.I’ve got my feet up after a lovely tea of steak pudding and veg cooked by my lovely OH. It was really busy at work, you wouldn’t think it was lockdown so I was shattered.
I knocked a chunk off my credit card again this morning when I got paid. I’m feeling virtuous too cos I didn’t bring any cake home with me.
Now to snuggle up in front of the tv.
Keep well

Hi, I waited an hour and a quarter and eventually managed a midweek Tesco slot, my friend signed on at same time and got one in ten minutes!! but we both had trouble signing out, took an extra twenty minutes!! we are both vulnerable so no complaints we are just grateful we don't have to go shopping. Have a lovely evening and weekend, stay safe.3

Hi guys
Ive had an organised day today. Washing nearly up to date, tea cooking ready for later, menu plan for the week done (I’ve been doing that since Wednesday)
I’m not sure how it started but OH and I started reminiscing about when we were kids and the way we ate and shopped. None of this 5 a day planning, meals were organised by what there was or what needed eating. No big freezers, just the little freezer at the top of the fridge. Seasonal eating and not a lot of snacking or sweets. We were both village kids, the shop shut at noon on Saturday and reopened Monday and were shut half day on Wednesday. We had an icecream man that came by a couple of times a week in summer and stodgy puds were winter things. Then we got on to the coal miners strike. In my village you had to dash home from school because the electric went off at 5pm so you had to be washed, in pyjamas, any homework done. My mum had a really sooty pan that she warmed food in and a kettle. Luckily we had access to wood so had an open fire to cook and to keep us warm. Toast was so much better made on an open fire ( well that’s how I remember it) I’m sure lots of people suffered but I was a kid with an organised mum so we treated it like an adventure.
We’ve started downloading Xmas films already but will only start watching when we get into December. Our little flat has still not needed the heating in yet. It’s blowing a gale here but hasn’t rained yet. I let the flat air out for half an hour, and the bedroom window is open but the door closed to air the bedroom out. Weird weird weather this year. I think it’s supposed to go colder at the end of next week, but I keep getting told that and it’s not happened this year yet. We shall see.

Hello Cuddlymarm - yes, yes - I agree with childhood food memories. I would go "down the shops" for my mum to buy a pound of mince, pound of carrots, pound of onions and 2 pounds of potatoes - which could only mean shepherds pie for tea. We usually had roast on a Sunday with cold meat and mash on a Monday. The ice cream man came by on a Sunday and I would run down the road to get a brick - raspberry ripple or neopolitan. A brick would fit in the tiny freezer box. Tinned fruit and evap was a favourite pudding. And yes I remember the power cuts! My parents main priority was to ensure we had a flask of tea to get us through the evening. I think the government talked about a 3 day week which I naively thought was a good thing 🥳.4

Hi Blackcats
We always had a good supply of tinned fruit, evaporated milk and rice pudding because my dad worked for a lorry firm that was based next to and delivered for the Libby’s factory. It was quite an adventure because the cans rarely had labels but we weren’t picky 😀
Tonights tea was butternut squash cut in half and baked in the oven along with 2 jacket spuds. Then I scraped out the flesh of both mashed with butter and pepper then put back in the squash shell. Covered with cheese and then popped back in the oven to malt the cheese. So yummy, proper autumn food 😋
It felt more like autumn today, cold, windy and fresh. I like it when the weathers like this, I can snuggle up in my duffle coat, scarf and gloves. Hopefully it will be dry tomorrow because OH won’t be able to give me a lift to work. I’ll walk there and back if it’s dry, I avoid public transport if at all possible and it might help with my weight loss. I’m aiming to lose 7lb before Xmas, the last few months have been disastrous, I’ve comfort ate my way through the COVID pandemic and I need to stop.
Anyway time for bed, keep well and warm people 🙂🙂🙂

Hi guys
Today has been cold and dry, proper autumn weather. We’ve finally put the heating on, not bad though, we usually have it on by mid October.
Work has been really busy again, luckily I’ve only one shift left to do on Saturday and then I’m off for a week. If we don’t take our holiday entitlement we will lose it anyway so I might as well. It’s not as if there’s a chance of holidaying anywhere anytime soon.
Part of me is excited that there is a chance that we able to have Christmas with family, but then there is also the worry of the COVID cases growing again. It’s a difficult situation. I’m trying not to get my hopes up in case it can’t happen.I hope everyone is keeping well and warm
