  • Mildly tipsey sounds good.........................now where is that gin..............here it is.............................slurp
  • as long as you put a notice in the window saying "anyone with the right of legal access to this property can call the following number" - this proves you are not locking her out, but offering her another way in.

That is exactly what Im doing - thanks so much
  • Let's hope it turns into 'All's Well That Ends Well'

For what its worth I think you are acting entirely correctly.

Good luck with clearing up the flat and better luck with your next tenant.

  • Awww thanks so much silvercar!

I feel that I'm a catastrophe with spectacularly poor judgement of character.

I tell you - Northern Rock and I would be a dream team. Together we could start offering...........get-away-from-it-all-for-five-years canoe holidays!
  • Thanks so much ts_aly2000.

I have learnt that just because I may have an understanding with their predicament, I know my limitations. I can't deal with poeple who are a very real threat.

    Thanks

people i feel most sorry for is the neighbors, they had to live next to a dangerous mental case and had their houses burnt down, bet your popular.
  • I don't think anyone could have forseen anything so outrageous and dangerous.

It has been a huge shock to everyone.

luckily no one else had their flat burnt out except me.

The flat above has major smoke damage and anyone else who suffered will be able to claim off our insurance.

I wish I had a crystal ball - but you don't always know what will hhappen next.
  • I need advice.

Police and insurers have required that I secure the flat - the front door was left wide open on Wednesday.

So I have had locks replaced and door repaired today. This was overseen by the freeholder, who has also left a note with my phone number on front door.

Freeholder says everything black inside. Fire started on floor by bay window at the back. He says tenant's furniture still there. Also ornaments - which I know she was fond of.

I will be at the property on Friday, meeting freeholder, loss adjuster and council.

I have no address for my tenant and she has not contacted me.

Should I text her on Sunday - her section 21 ends today - and tell her she can collect her possessions on Friday?

Essential services need to be restored to the building - that means repairing water pipes, gas and electric. So floors need to come up and the place has to be emptied out.
  • sounds like a right nutty tenant, hike up the rent and evict her for rent arrears.

i find it more concerning that you colluded with her to evict her so she could get a Council property. In light of the shortage of council properties for you to do this is rather immoral, and if a housing manager found out they should remove any priority she gets for being made 'homeless'
