Excelled myself, put it down to me procrastinating about sorting out the heap of suitcases that is the landing. So to avoid that job, I have dusted and vacuumed the entire house. I know, unheard of, and definitely not at the weekend. I am now going to do HHI, then it will be too late to start anything else 😉7

Kids in Pjs already. Fire lit (to save on CH costs MSE people who are watching 😜), laundry drying near it. I need to meal plan for the week but I feel somewhere near caught up. See you all on the new thread x9

Happy Sunday, everyone
As Himself was off work all week due to his puking fit last Saturday, he's been actually doing things whilst I've been at work - on Thursday morning, having vaguely noticed things had been moved around the night before, I realised the TV unit was bare and the posh record player wasn't on the sideboard anymore. I peered around the corner wondering whether we'd been burgled overnight and spotted my stereo and laptop were the only things left, so decided against waking him up, as they are both worth significantly more than his tut.
When I got back, yes, he is reducing the amount of detritus I have to look at when I get home each night. So I gave him a job - to measure the size of the usuable room so I can order a rug, as it gets very cold in winter; great in summer, but laminate on top of concrete floor on top of an underground river (despite the most expensive underlay I could get) makes for a cold floor - so much so, the pipes for the radiators are detectable when the heating is on; usually because there is a cat sound asleep on a random point of the floor.
Got home Friday to find that instead of measuring the space, he'd decided to tape out what he thought was a good size for a rug and measure that. I've now taped out the actual space I want covered and the standard large size area rug will fit just right. So I've ordered a nondescript 'taupe' rather than 'fawn', 'dark beige' or 'mocha' like that's going to make any difference that should be here by Wednesday. Forty quid. And I found a seller doing industrial - type runners for £3 a foot, which might be the next purchase.
Mind you, I also managed to order a mini rice cooker, some wooden utensils and other kitchen related gumpf in the process, so it wasn't actually as cheap in the end.
Flying wise,
Cleaned the countertops
Hob
Sink
Drainer
Fronts of appliances. I work damned hard for the money and I want to feel as though they're being looked after.
Posh frying pan, wok and slow cooker rewashed properly. Same reason - it would take me the best part of a week to earn them, the least that I expect is that the product of that work is respected.
3 loads of washing, 2 airers worth of drying plus 1 TD for bedding.
Swept the living room and hallway.
Emptied clutter out from under the coffee table, then pressganged Himself into dismantling the table, as it's just a crapmagnet. I've now repurposed the top into sitting over the WM and freezer, so it looks more like a real counter and keeps the cruddy stains from building up on the nice, white tops. And it gives about 10cm extra space compared to balancing microwave, steamer, slow cooker and toaster on the appliances.
Scrubbed the butchers' block. I think it was over oiled at some point, so I suppose I need to sand it down and start from scratch at some point, as it's a bit sticky.
Stuck a slab of chicken drumsticks from the freezer (why put the entire packet in like that? Divvy them up into portions, you muppet) into the SC and leaving them to get on with it. At some point I'll work out what to do with them other than cook 'em.
I think that the super stingy (as in like two angry wasps, not Ebeneezer Scrooge) and expensive medications might be beginning to have an effect on my idiotic immune system. As I've actually moved for a change.
Looking forward to tomorrow and Tuesday, though. Got a 2 day accredited training course to attend, which means getting up at a reasonable time instead of stupid o'clock for a change. Trying not to think about the backlog that'll be waiting for me as a result of two days off, though.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll9 -
Hi all
Back to the paid stuff tomorrow ... deep breaths, will go into the office and hope there haven't been any dramas. Washing has been out but needs putting through the tumbler, downstairs windows have been cleaned, budget for October done (not allowing myself much leeway as I need to keep throwing money at the debts), lasagne made for tea, mealplan done for the week. I am trying really hard to minimise my social media scrolling so need to read or watch a bit of mindless telly instead. See you all on next weeks thread!8 -
DW run through twice and at least another 2 runs to go since we had dinner.. tuna pasta for us normal people and dippers with pasta for the rest.
TD on
I have a basket load to go on the airer.
Hob wiped over
Recycling out.
Uniforms half found but no bread to make sandwiches for pack ups so threw some sausage rolls in the oven.
Took a bunch of pain meds so I am a dribbling idiot and my head still hurts but my leg feels a bit better. thinking I might dig out uniforms and do pack ups and go to bed... may have to trot to the garage and buy bread.. or sainsbugs.. or just send an offsprung.. DS2 might go.
Dot having a crazy hour.. she has been a nightmare the last few days screaming and shouting and being loud and fast, so very fast..

I've had a really lazy weekend but I have been out to Hardwick Hall this pm. Stupid QR code wouldn't scan into phone though.
(I think because they had laminated it but who am I to criticise). So the grand plan to cathc up on myriad little boring job hasn't been carried out, though I have cleaned out the hutch.
I shall knock up a list at some point...
I rather think (reading between the lines) that as this has never been a specifically money saving thread we are ok - I hope.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
