No house hunting for the mo Taff. Neighbour has requested he park just down the road when doing the 5am thing.I said I was ok with 7 or 8 heaven help me. Aparantly both his uncle and brother did the 'go back to mum when things get tough'. I know I'm being judgemental but none of them do anything. Don't clean windows, cars, gutters, garden or cook. That's why I've no sympathy. There's a groundsman next door who's worked till 10 last night and 4hrs today with ulcers on his legs from the job to give his family what they need.Anyhoos, cleaned and polished the car today, mowed the lawn and hacked back 2 massive climbing roses. As you sow so you shall reap............the biggest rose is now full of the Christmas Clematis which has gone everywhere and totally out of my reach. Sheesh it hangs on tightly!Yup Bluey, love things mixed together but this has gone berserk considering I thought it wouldn't live. Why can't they just climb where you want them to?Mowed the lawn and edged too.Taff, good on the pots. Fingers crossed for them. I've yet to dig out the bulbs I thought would be less trouble in the ground but didn't bloom well. I'll pot them again for next spring. The joy of bulbs in pots is that they can be left to dry out somewhere and pop up next year.Agree about the fragile chairsHow good to have a neighbour with a sense of humour.I'd guess the puss cat has been going through a small gap in a fence or gate where he shouldn't be going. Happened to my much loved part time cat.Les, still don't understand Occrams razor.....I've read but it looses me almost immediately yet I love a philospher.Farway you got lost in the wierd 'missing posts' thing that seems to happen now.Yes, it's going well but going to take a while to retrain the muscles. And who knows what winter cold will do. I have the summer to get it right. It's a beggar not being able to look after yourself. But lovely for nowNoticed my cuttings were being nibbled so had a look under the pots and guess what I found! Look away now if you're squeemishThey've gone on holiday over the fence. I don't have Blueys stomach fo dealing with them.

I'm just in! It's too dark to see what I'm doing properly.
The promised sunshine didn't materialise until about 18.00, and then we had the sunny day as a lovely evening instead.
I laughed at Ockham's razor being used to slice weedsand felt sorry for His Holiness.
What's up there, Bluey?
The gravel in the sitooterie was a faux pas, being golden and not local, but at least it wasn't rounded. Gravel here ought to be granite or dark grey to reflect nearby geology, though I've seen granite and the golden stuff mixed, and that works OK, if the grey is thought too dull on its own.Our pigeons and collared doves are well-behaved 2p, though they don't have much chance to perch on our set-up. Along with the sparrows and dunnocks, they do the essential job of cleaning-up.Mrs Dusty has just returned from locking up the chickens. She watched the barn owl scanning the top field....until a noisy motorbike passed and it moved on."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity6 -

I don't know what's happened to his Holeyness pp, but it's not from squeezing under my gatepost. Lovely Neighbour said he's had a reaction to the flea stuff she put on him the other day, but I really don't think it's that. He's got a couple of patches on his arms too. So no touching allowed (he loves being carried around and himself loves doing it) but I don't mind feeding him still.
I suspect running round like a mad thing before visitors arrive is an Irish thing then? I know it doesn't matter how much I do, she'd be happy with nothing done (but would notice) and be equally happy with a few bits done (there's plenty left to notice), so it's a futile exercise really. But it's the way of thingsThere's a Dunelm in Posh Town so I'll get new bedding tomorrow when I'm out. I reckon I'd pay good money for that mug
Ockham's Razor 2p - like Less says - when you've a few options and can't pick, go with the simplest option cos you'll nearly always be right. Eg if you hear hooves, think horses not zebras. Your pigeon story board made me smile, sometimes they manage something clever and then ruin it by being dumb  Striking colour of your poppy too (sorry, I forgot to say that before). Will it self-seed all over the place do you think? I'd be happy with that. Hopefully the son parking down the road will make it a bit quieter :fingerscrossed: And be brave about snipping slugs to death! Honestly the stuff that comes out of them is so interesting (if you can conquer the ick factor). All kinds of colours and hues and marbling gently seeps out. It's almost mesmerising
That's a bu99er about the motorbike scaring off the owl Dusty, hopefully he came back. I'm not sure about a gravelly sitooterie at all, even if it is local stone. No good really for us barefoot ones. A bit of fancy work with some roof tiles would look betterGetting a bit obsessed with roof tiles, it's a rabbit hole and no mistake
OT raining. Well, drizzling a bit now with more/less/no more rain to come, and it'll set in just for the morning/keep going 'til mid-aft/stop entirely in 22 minutes. They all agree we'll have a nice evening though, and I quite like them.I oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. I support freedom of assembly.5 -
Here's some happy pics cos I haven't posted any in a while.
The used-to-be striped rose is now identifying as a daffodil -A bee bum on the last bit of my lupins -An ixtapa (or whatever it was called) has opened on the shady side of my garden. Slightly less fragrant too -I know it wasn’t called that, but I've forgotten it's name. Ixapa is a song by a couple called Rodrigo + Gabriela. Brilliant album, worth trying if you like very quick and jolly Spanish guitar music.

Forgive the length of that link!
Edit - and overlook the fact that that song isn't Ixtapa. Diablo Rojo is my fave on that albumI oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. I support freedom of assembly.7 -
Beautiful plants Bluey! You're garden is looking amazing now. Must have been a lot of hard work.Nice music (I love spanish guitar) but too busy for me.I wonder if you'd like Dave Brubeck Classical Jazz though may be too laid backLight and bright today and warmish. Supposed to be all day but they said that yesterday and dark with constant smattering of rain. We'll see.Ordinary boring stuff today. Well dancing too while my bits are working. Garden will have to wait for the weekend and I'll just enjoy looking at it while its half tidy but I thought I'd post while I could still keep up

Thanks 2p
It was hard work to start with but I'm really just keeping up with weeding now. And hoping something heads for the fjords so I've room to plant whatever new thing I bought when I really only went for a bread loaf
I like a bit of Dave Brubeck when I'm driving, good for bringing the blood pressure down ha haa. If my one was a bit quick + busy you might like Ixtapa - same sort of deal but slower and more ...melodic.
The drizzle has stopped to give the rain another go *sigh* Mild and clammy and humidI oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. I support freedom of assembly.4 -
Well gee thanks for the slugs 2P, I think I preferred the bird stories though
I'm working my way up to bulbs and stuff, normally I'm a plant just before they die kind of last minute person [ maybe Greenfly really is for me] so that's a level of preparation I'm not at yet..Good that's he's parking a bit further away though..and it's a thing with some people, they just don't see what's to be done, basically they've never grown up.
I had cotswold stone gravel int hef ront garden for a while but after a few years it turned grey and dirty looking, so a quick replacement with some of the ridled gravel from out the back and it's now sandy coloured and much less dirty. So my vote is go with what looks nice and won't look horrible after a few yearsNo ybe, it's not an Irish thing, it's a worried about what relatives will say when they see your place thing [or friends]. I always did it when my parents visited..I remember being worried about the tiniest things I thought they would notice and then blitzing the life out of everything like a whirlwind. Lovely flowers! And that was some jolly guitar music...Sunny so far, going to take advantage and wash two loads because I know how to have fun but while they're washing, it's mow the lawn time before the 3ft high grass attacks the cats...I did see a ginger one making love to the nepeta this morning too, he went proper crazy over it, sticking his head in, clawing, basically getting off his chestal appendages...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi8 -

Did you get tootling about your garden Farway? What you potting on...?and to say sorry Farway, I’ll not be giving tickles to his Holeyness cos look at the state of him 😳Lovely Neighbour is getting him to the vets in a couple of days. Poor wee soul, there’s always something.Tootling completed yesterday when it brightened up, potted on my battered surviving coleus wot I knocked on the floor when they were seedlings, I'll get a picture once they perk up from the potting on.Also, a posh but bedraggled poppy now in a larger potDuring my tootle I noticed my seed sown lavender have come on a lot, I think I'll need to !!!!!! them out sooner than expectedPoor old cat, hope the vet gets him sorted without any problemsNice pics as well.If my back stands it, I may get out & prune a shrub that's taking over. I did know the name of it but forgotten it, but I do know it stands a good hacking back, so may spend a few minutes on that later. My climbing beans, runners & French still have no flowers, healthy enough & growing well, just no flowers yetMaybe it's the cool weather?
What does have flowers are my broad beans, feeling happy with these, only sown because the runners were all eaten, and seeds were on offer at the timeSown onto damp tissue end May, potted up early June, planted out end June, and here they are, in flowerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7 -
Definitely not an Irish thing, YBE. My house is in a permanent state of CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) so when visitors are imminent I'm running around like a mad woman. Your flowers are lovely and I see what you mean about the rose masquerading as a daffodil
Btw, my DD and her boyfriend had a pussycat who reacted to certain flea treatments - he went patchy bald, so your neighbour may be correct in saying that. And WAAAY too much information about the slugs
We had more sad news last night so my DH is off to see familyI think it'll just be a quiet day for me.
