The thing with our National Parks are the walks are very well signposted and lots of maps online and because it's been a much used area for walking for centuaries accommodation along the way is plentiful.
As for accommodation you will find sites that include suggestions along with the walks. You could email the Information Centres and see if they can suggest a site that combines the two as well as searching yourself.I used lots of blogs about walking the SW Coast Path to see where people had stayed, distance and difficulty of the path, views and such like.My house is always pristine. When nobody calls round. As soon as it's left to it's own devices sure as eggs is eggs, someone arrives unanounced.BTW my friend always said - you should have visitors every 6 weeks. That makes you give it a top to toe cleanBeautiful hot summer day out there.I've sharpened my secateurs. Seems I don't need a new pair after allSo I trimmed my little tree while I had them to hand.Farway you really work magic with your seed bargains! I've still so many seeds - in the garage still, so many plans not done. I also found MORE bulbs! How I missed so many goodness knows and not sure there's an inch of ground left

Dusty I have the hydrangea with black stems and blue heads , my sisters bought it me ,unfortunately even though I planted it in ericaceous compost it turned pink!! It might be called black steel. I did get 2 out of the plant when I repotted it though 😁
I like the curved benches, and alstroemerias are a fave of mine they last ages when in the house too.
YBE there are 2 climbing hydrangeas, 1 is evergreen but I find the deciduous one gets more flowers. Glad the concrete is down. You are really get stuck in now.
Im doing ok now and due back at work Monday. Thank you for all your good wishes.
PP hope the lurgy is improving, take care.
all shades of grey here including virtually black, with rain every so often.😏🌧️☁️

Pigeon shenanigans in my garden now...
I'd just put a fresh suet block out - the pigeon looked ridiculous sat on top of it taking up the whole swing seat.
Good luck on Monday, wort, hope work gives you time to settle back in. My lurgy has gone now, thanks, it's just worse than usual partial deafness/tinnitus I've been left with...'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
That is hillarious!I do think they have more intelligence than we credit them with. Here's a pigeon pic from a while ago but relevant. It was a heat wave so it sat in the bird bathGlad you're on the mend.Yup. The lurgy has left me with a touch of tinitus. Thankfully mostly gone now.

Don't think you should give up too soon on the runners Farway - my best ones are only just showing signs of flower buds, and last year I noted that they were starting to set at the beginning of August... We got a great crop through later Aug until early October... (and that was in a fairly rubbish damp cool late summer - much like now, actually. ..)

If it works, I know what to do next year.Managed to cut back the thug shrub, looks untidy, but at least the other plants can now breathe, and I found a sneaky bindweed making its way to the skyHard to believe, but even after all the rain, one of my outdoor toms was wilting a bit, so I've had to give those a drink.

Brilliant pic of the pigeon, twopenny - mine was taken through a mucky kitchen window so not very clear The little so and so has been back a few more times and I've had to chase it to give the other birds a chance.
Bindweed - I have always assumed it was grass - decided to google it today and it's not what I've thought it was all these years!! Anyway, I don't think I've got it in my garden... phew...
Farway, I was going to snip the top off my indoor tomatoes, but they've already got flowers growing up there. Should I still give them the snip?? I've got loads of flowers on both plants and some tomatoes growing (at various stages) so could probably sacrifice a few flowers if necessary.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
Re your sig, Bluey, I'm sure the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education used to be called The Reading Reading Centre. That was back in the days when academics had a sense of fun.I've scrapped the 4x4 and spent the rest of my time playing catch-up mowing , so I've missed out here today, but I've read everything, I think. Like 2p, I sometimes 'lose' posts and they pop-up later.I'm sorry you've had more bad news from DH's family, pp. When that sort of thing happens, taking a quiet time out seems right. Pottering in the garden or going for a walk in the country are ideal ways to do that.I think you're right about the ID of that hydrangea, wort. Mrs Dusty has her set on one now!I wish I'd planted some beans now. Flowers or no flowers, I'm way behind you, Farway. I might go for an autumn broad bean sowing in the poly when the toms are done. Never tried that.A pigeon on a swing beats anything I'm likely to post today , but I'll have a dig and see what pops up....Ah, yes, a lovely little Oxalis spotted in a shady corner. Looks like it seeds around. Accidental bee bum too! Yay!Glad you maybe won't have to move, after all, 2p. Your slugs, might be Red Slugs, but then again, they might be hybrids. They're apt to be a bit promiscuous, slugs!
Things happen when enough people say, "No."6 -
I've definitely been in whirlwind mode taff, and I'm glad it's not just me If you'd seen the muck that came off the windows/conservatory, jeez the neighbours must think I'm a right slattern! Chestal appendages made me laugh Nepeta - I'll have to remember that to make sure I never buy one.
Bluddy 'ell, your beans are goers eh Farway. Pretty flowers too, not sure I've ever seen a bb flower in real life. Are they fragrant? Hurray for more lavenders in the world How are your carrotty carrots doing?
I’m hope the bad news is bearable pp :fingerscrossed: No more slug info then I would agree about the flea stuff causing the baldy patch but he's got a patch on the front of each arm and now one under his chin too. Look at the state of that pigeon! Aren't they swines comical. Hopefully the tinnitus s0ds off soon too. And I'm not at all jealous how lovely and lush and full your garden is :grimace. I've too much soil here, I wish I could make things grow faster...
Visitors every 6 weeks, that's pure brilliant 2p. It's funny because it's true! I'm glad I'm not the only one with seeds and bulbs galore, and I'm even gladder when a proper person says it I'm just lucky I don't have a garage or it'd be stuffed with them ha haa. How's your tooth btw? Love your wallowing pigeon, I'd have that on a calendar
Good to hear you're back on your feet wort, even if that means going to work  Thanks for the hydrangea info, I'll keep my eye out. Are climbers something I'd get in the usual cheapo places or is it a swish garden centre thing?
The Reading Reading Centre There's a lack of fun in these things now eh. So are you replacing the 4x4 or making do sharing MrsD's car (if the crows have left it in one piece)? Oxalis - that's going on my list. That'll look well in the rockery I don't have by the wall that isn't built yet. I'm carefully going through your links 2p, pintrest is a good source of inspiration and I'm mashing a few different things together in my head as I go along. Just need the weather to turn bad in the Algarve and we'll be off!
Cooler than it has been out there now, I've had to put socks on, and I had to put a jumper on yesterday The weather folks all lied - it was not a lovely evening at all , it was more of the same cool cloudy nonsense. The rain did stop mid morning though, so one of them got that right. More cloudy coolness today, northerly wind getting going soon. Julyuary is continuing apace. Possibly good weather next week, temps in the low 20's and gentle breezes. They say.
Have you tumbled into a raised bed chasing bindweed roots @ArbitraryRandom? Do we need to send help?
Oh and I'm doing swopsies with wm - pile of soil for a load of tiles :clapping: I can happily confirm that she isn't a mad axe murderer and that her handsome dog is indeed handsome. A really cheerful little chappy . I did tell him he could stop here with me if he liked but he wasn't having itTruth does not change according to our ability to stomach it.6 -
Now I want a swing for my pigeonThat would be such a good chuckle of a morning.Taff hope work goes ok and they treat you carefully. Pace yourself and have a rest/relax when you get home.Bluey that Oxalis will find you if you give it the right conditions, ie the directions to your gardenDusty that looks like a proper one and not a blow in?Farway I thought you'd sworn off BBs? I seem to remember it had your really wound up last summer. I haven't checked my beans but I think they and the poppies are covered in bugs. I'll leave it for another time.Dark, cloudy and very cool out there. Sheesh this is the time I'm on the beach swimming and picnicing usually and boy could I do with some fun. No sign of change all day. Some activity and some gardening this weekend. The sort of hard work chore that you hope once it's done it won't recur till next year.No sign of my bees this year which is very strange. The honey bees could be from a hive that's been moved but the Bumbles? I had loads of them. Not a one, just the odd passer through.I'm having trouble with this site. Stuff's not loading well and not copying etc.
