Cissie is my heart's beat, I'll be pure destroyed when she goes. She's 91 this year and still makes me feel like a 10 year old!
The docs rang yesterday afternoon, I've got an appointment for bloods first thing 2 weeks on Thursday. Quite a good system, they send you a link and you get to choose an appt time that suits you so I just clicked the first available one. If Cissie's on a one way ticket she might still be here then, gawd help me.
I don't know about your weed... I think it looks a bit strawb-ish? I know it's the wrong time of year for new leaves but mine is still producing them and throwing out runners. Bet it's that global boiling or the new govmint or somethingI oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. I support freedom of assembly.5 -
Looks like something I've got Poppy. Long tap root that comes out easily with a 2 pronged weeder. It would be worth moving Dusty as I've spent 7 years with this pain, couldn't stand at one point and had to give up all my activities. I'm getting better but it all depends on rest and relaxation expecially sleep.I posted a greenhouse like that but back to back like a house - you thought it was made from window frames.Been studying wildlife today. So adult blackbirds chase small birds away from food.Young blackbirds are shy and intimidated by small birds.Bluetits come one at a time in an appologetic way when sparrows are about.Sparrows young and old come in sociable gangs.Weather here is warm and humid under dense cloud with spotty light rain. It's exhausting and stuffy. Everything is too wet to deal with and I had a look at a garden round the back of our road and it's immaculate but burgeoning with bloom. Wonder if she'd come and have a go at mine?Roof tiles -Loads of ideas but the lovely patio done in circles I can't find cause the net is keen to sell you stuffI remember a lovely one but not a sign of it. Good luck

Oh they are fab 2P, I've seen some of those before and I really like the ones made up as walls [ if I can't have gabions...]I've just told OH today that I want the ones they'll be taking off the toilet roof...That's a very impressive rose Dusty, I'm sure 2Ps looked like that before the storm. That's a very mediterranean sitooterie too, love the pots going up the steps. That's what I'l be using the roof tiles for, to make some steps for pots. I did laugh at you PP, for hising from the neighbours, I do that too, but then one of them is always really negative about everything and I can do without that. and yes, me with the roof tiles out the front around the beds.I'm glad your cissie is coing ybe, you need some extra mother henning in your life
Having seen a couple now I've also got ideas above my station about sitooteries that are enclosed by walls, but loathe as I am to dig down, i don't mind building up instead. Another use for tiles...when are we having our roof done then?
Looks like a new obssession is forming...
It's still raining here, my waterbutts are nearly full, so that's near enough 1000ltrs in a few days off the garage roof [ 1930's concrete thing asbestos roof etc] , not that I'm complaining and the cats are happy, they like drinking out of buckets or my wheelbarrow in preference to the tap water..'ve just realised my rosemarys needs a severe prune but those little insects are still living in spit on them and I don't want to make them homeless. We've been moving things hither and thither today upstairs and downstairs, OH has taken himself off to his working mens club so I'm going to stir myself after this cup of tea and plant some stuff out before it drowns.

I'm better on 'proper' plants than weeds, pp, but it might be Herb Bennet.....maybe!Gallup is much the same as Roseate, and available in litres on the big river site @£17ish. Used to be just over a tenner. I stocked-up with weedkiller a while ago. Might see me out!Ah, it was you with the grow-house picture, 2p!
Perhaps they made a freestanding version and yours wasn't two wall houses pushed together. Possibly they supplied them painted too, as it's unlikely two people miles apart would choose exactly the same shade.
I didn't realise your pain was quite so lifestyle-related, but I do understand, having noticed how my own aches are exacerbated by skipping sleep. The problem is how to guard against similar experiences at a new property."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity6 -
Indeed it has been Dusty. Couldn't stand to cook my dinner, wash up, iron etc at one point. Had to give up dancing, tennis, walking even and 2hrs a morning in bed. Getting breakfast to take back was dreadful. But in the last few months I'm pain free in the morning and can now walk 2.5miles on the flat, alone. Working up slowly.I used to do walking, swimming and dancing or table tennis in the one day only last year. But slowly I'm getting back and pain free. Have 50% more movementSo here's a blast from the past! These purple poppies were planted by neighbours daughter in their garden when she was about 12.They seemed to stick around in my last garden. Seems they survived the move somehow, somewhere and are appearing in the most unlikely places in this new garden.I've decided if they want to be with me so much I'll keep them. They do no harmTaff I made a whole folder of 'Dream Garden' using photos from the net. I don't have one of the things but it was real fun doing it.I always wanted to make a patio with terracotta flower pots inside each other as a centre and cobbles or tiles making patterns outside.

Ah so not strawbs then ha haa!
Thanks very much for those links 2p, I wouldn't have known where to start looking for stuff like that. We'll see what quantity and shape the tiles are in and go from thereOoh giggidy! Himself text Bob the builder last night, he'll be home in a couple of weeks ish so I’ve time to plan. Have you started looking on rightmove etc for another house then? Any good candidates coming up? I know what you mean about sleep - considering it's so important and affects so much you'd think they'd be all on researching it 'til we'd cracked it, but we know more about the moon than we do about sleep...
Woohoo for full water butts taff. You having a rejig of your house then? What are those insects that live in spit? Don't any of you funny bu99ers say cuckoos, I'm not that bad
Did you get your paperwork done Dusty? Or were the weeds loudly germinating and laughing at you cos you were stuck inside?
Arb must be working hard, I wonder if she'll come back with more cracking photos....
Aye Cissie will have me mother-henned enough 'til the end of the year, but I need to straighten meself up first. Give up smoking, give up coffee (which she says is an "american affectation"), and wash the windows inside and out. Back bedroom is mostly done, just needs all the extraneous nonsense humping up into the loft. I ought to clean my car too really. And weed the front.
Anyway. Warm - 17' -and cloudy and humid hereNot a bad day today, they say. If the humidity drops I can get my windows open and have a good blow through.

It could be that. The drunken forecast for now says I'm having intermittent sunshine, so I'm wondering why I have the lights on, and it's still tipping down! At least it'll be watering-in the squash and cucumber, which finally went in yesterday, later than normal.Pictures can be a little deceiving, taff. That Mediterranean-style sitoouterie was in the sunniest part of a very large garden, most of it shaded by huge trees. In another bright corner, was a second one, by a wildlife pond. This one wouldn't have had sunshine in the evening. Indeed, it was losing it when I took the photo at around 15.00; hence problems the camera had coping with the difference in light levels. Did you get your paperwork done Dusty? Or were the weeds loudly germinating and laughing at you cos you were stuck inside?I've watched 2p's area, and it's expensive compared with mine.It does have good access to many cracking walks, though, whereas here, we often have to contend with obscure tracks and barbed wire where it shouldn't be etc.
It's the difference between tourist-orientated and farming-focused. However, since the Big Lurgy, there's been a marked increase in moneyed people from the Home Counties, Sussex etc, buying property here and doing it up. I've lost track of how many of the open garden owners we've met who've arrived within the past 4 years or so. Looking around just now, though, the market seems to be dead.
Half my Rightmove feeds are reductions, and that's early in the selling season.
I got the important paper work sorted. We're using a consultant for the next phase of our 'activity' here, as it's too complex for yours truly.
She's keeping me busy.
I also found someone who'll take our 4x4 off our hands for a sensible sum. It might go on for another 6 months OK, but chances are, it won't. I'll get the 3.5 tonne van serviced and use that for a while, having just obtained a ticket for 12 visits to the dump recycling centre. 'They' won't let it in there without that now, and I've a feeling we will be making many visits in the coming months!
